Is Contador or Froome first in the race?

Is there any particular stage that caused a big part of the gaps?

That's probably not enough for a huge gap o Froome, my only explanations is that:
a. He is still tired from the Giro.
b. He crashed.

It's pretty normal in PCM to have a sizable gap from 1st to 2nd and down (it's pretty normal irl). In PCM14 the TDF has an early cobbled stage which massively shakes things up and can hugely benefit the human player.
It's such a key stage i can easily, and regularly, place Geraint Thomas inside the Top10 GC at the end of the race.
Giro can depend on the startlist, but if Nibali turns up the nationality bonus makes him almost unstoppable and can lead to big GC gaps.
Vuelta is always kind f*cked up. Never an issue to do well in it with a decent GT rider, take a good one in form and it's a cake walk. Especially a Spanish one like Contador.
Turn the difficulty up if you are always winning by big margins. Otherwise it's just use weaker riders if you are winning. If it's the AI beating you then turn the difficulty down or use better riders.

In giro Won Nibali with 12 minutes to Pozzovivo (which I drove with) and with 13-14 minutes to Rodriguez. Also there were not many to number fourth |

How does the nationality bonus work? Is it better daily form or? And does that also count in multiplayer? |

It's a column in the db (dyn_cyclist) that regulates how much a rider is helped when he races in his own country: the scale goes from 1 to 3

It's a shame that the poor AI wrecks PCM14 in places. The fact that there is a difficulty level adjust is a cheap trick for the devs really. I reckon looking for a more difficult game should mean that you choose a team in a weak position (for example a bad WT team) and use that for challenge, as you might in Football Manager.
Having said that though, the TdF in my last game played out quite realistically between Froome and Sky (me) and Contador - the PCM Focus DB has both of the riders 83-84 in Mountains stat, but Froome has far higher Resistance, Contador higher Acceleration. So when Contador attacked, I just had to let him go and hope I could just pace up the mountain to catch or pass him. Usually I crossed the line with the same time or managed to take a few seconds. In the end it came down to the final TT and I won it easily with Froome.
Not keen on the PCM Focus approach to the Flat stats though, I'll prob switch after this career.
