Always confuse the teams Boonen and Bewley ride for, or at least it's not the first time. It's fixed now.

Hmmm, Gautier deserves a nomination for his massive turnaround from 2013, but not sure who else to nominate. Great initiative by the way! |

Had to nominate the CT surprise that is Eduard Beltran. Don't think he'll win, but he deserves to be in the running.

Can't see beyond Trofimov for mine, exceptional this year. Might nominate my own Dan Martin for punching above his weight at Paris-Nice but I don't think I'd actually vote for him when it came down to it.

Its really hard to look past Trofimov here. Great idea even in this casto reflect on some of the surprises/over performances of the season.

Haha I just came in to nominate him for a most improved award
I might nominate Zingle for this later given his price to points ratio and the fact that he came closer to a win than most of my leaders.

All the love out there in MG-land for Snr Beltran is appreciated, but I see a couple of PT riders that would get even my vote ahead of him.
Funnily enough, Beltran isn't even Nutresa's most succesful rider of the season; for a return on points/wage, please step forward our trusty samurai warrior Nariyuki Masuda who won that award at our end-of-season party! :0.
Hard to see past Trofimov or either of the Schlecks as this seasons head-honcho from where I'm sat.

Anyone else considering to nominate Michael Ford (6 stage-wins plus Duo Differdange and several TTTs) or ain't it worth to give him my vote?

Beltran has had 3 nominations, thus being added to the list. No need to nominate him anymore.

He would deserve the nomination for sure and maybe even my vote, Metinvest saw his dominance from the close up.
So will you nominate him?
Great initiative Selwink. None of my riders deserve nomination this year i suppose, so i will just enjoy voting for some of my favourite stars of 2014 season.

24 hours left to nominate. As it looks now two nominations will be enough to be added to the eventual list, but if nominations flood in that might change.

Voting has now been closed, so we can jump to the results.
I'll work up from the bottom.
13: Andrei Kaschechkin - 0 points
12: Janez Brajkovic - 2 points
11: Maxime Monfort - 3 points
10: Azzeddine Lagab - 5 points
9: Fabian Cancellara - 6 points
8: Jan Bakelants - 7 points
7: Damiano Cunego - 12 points
6: Vitor Rodrigues - 20 points
5th place goes to
with 22 points
4th place is for
with 24 points.
3rd place is for
with 25 points.
The battle for first therefore is between Andy Schleck and Yuri Trofimov. Trofimov got most points in the beginning, while in the later votes Andy took a massive haul.
Eventually second place went to
with 57 points.
Therefore the winner of the inaugural ManGame Rider of the Year 2014 is
with 63 points.

Trofimov is a machine, so that is a fair result, actually forgot to vote, kinda embarrassed about that. I have a feeling that the only one that can really be disappointed is Vitor Rodrigues

Trofimov is obviously a great winner - but to me he is a bit like Valverde of 2014, a bit of a point grabber and was on the bottom step of the podium a wee bit too often rather than an absolute winner.
Andy Schleck won the big one in a great manner and won other great climbers races to boot. Jose and he perhaps splitting the climbers votes perhaps unfairly at the end of the day Alarcon is a poor mans Schleck.
