A Video On mountains Never can hurt... Also one on hilly terrain would be much appreciated.
I usually get stuff faster if I see how it's done compared to reading about it
As I said before, my team had the same stats and the same fitness as the other riders, that's why I don't understand this huge difference in power...
I eventually made one. Hilly stages are usually the same, just be first to arrive at the last hill and go
So if I got this right (after seeing the movie) you keep your best climbers on 'hold position' untill they are planning to ride away from peleton/group?
A few weeks ago I bought PCM and I saw on this forum that using DOT is the key to victory. But I think I used it too much. As soon as I start the climb I put my best and 2nd climer on DOT and protect them with climber 3 and 4. The big problem is... my 2 climbers just go out the peleton while I don't want that. If I put the DOT on 30 - 35% they stay ahead (but not the same for every climber)
So my main question is: I guess that's not the way to start a climb? Should I hold position? and how much % I give them to hold position?
2nd Question: For example 4 riders escaped and I want to catch them, I put 2 - 3 riders on relay for about 80%? Will it affect my climbers when they are at 'hold position'? Or isn't it a problem as long as they are protected?

If you use the dot, then you can define exactly how fast they should ride.
If you don't want them to ride "out of the peloton", then reduce the %.
It is very easy and you can even pause the game if the game is too fast for you.
For the most part I only use it on the last climb, yes.
Hold position works in relation to effort and heart rate by the way. If you have it at 70% the rider will put an effort in up to 170 bpm to remain at his position. If more effort is required he will drop his position. So what I usually do is increase it when pace start to get high towards the end and on climbs, but I rarely put it above 84%, and never above 86%. On the final climb, gaps might start to occur on 'hold position', so I usually close gaps with dot effort, or even better set the tempo with a team mate. When my leader starts to go depends on the length and steepness of the climb and his energy level, but usually around 6 km is good to start.
You might save slight amounts of energy using dot on all climbs, as the rider will not be pulled in any which way by the peleton, but that must take a lot of time for little gain? I usually arrive at the last climbs with my leader in great shape to win.
