Nice podium for Degenkolb. Puts him in great position to challenge the overall. |

Thanks for the comments. I'm making a couple changes to the format. The flags will stay though as I like them... |

Santos Tour Down Under
Stage 1: Mt Barker - Rostrevor 113 km

John Degenkolb - Will Clarke - Tom Dumoulin - Simon Geschke - Cheng Ji - Koen de Kort - Tom Stamsnijder
In the second stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, Bakelants, Wurf, Tjalingii and Dumoulin escaped and quickly took 4 minutes on the pack. Since it was a very short stage, the pack did not let the gap grow much more.

Bakelants took the Jayco sprints at Echunga and Onkaparinga road before Tjalingii and Wurf, and Dumoulin and Wurf. This brought him to the second place in the point standings after Gallopin. With only 10 kilometers to go the escapies were caught by the pack. Gavazzi and Ventoso immediately attacked, and also Geschke showed his face in front of the race.

Gavazzi won the Skoda King of the Mountain sprint but due to the energy that it costed him to get away from the pack, he lost all chances of an excellent finish. The pace of the pack was too high in the downhill section for any of the riders to get or stay away. The pace in the downhill section was also too high for the sprinters to get all the way to the front of the pack, and it mostly were climbers who competed for the victory today. Eventually it was Kocjan who barely took the victory before Geschke and Lowe.

Nice second with Geschke. Surely after a third in Stage 1 and second in Stage 2 you will manage to grab that win in Stage 3. Though I don't see many of the top sprinters here in Tour Down Under. |

I'm going to quit this game and restart with another team and another database. Taking victory in OZ was too easy, partly due to the poor lineups of the other teams and partly because "hard" is not hard enough. I will switch to extreme with another team. This will be a team which is more competitive in more races than only the flat sprints.... |
