Tour de San Luis
Stage 2
Stage 2 is a bit more undulating, with an uphill sprint for the line. We are hoping that Bozic will be able to repeat his performance of yesterday and steal another win.
The day starts with 5 riders hitting it off the front, including Golcer and Edmonson again from Sky. They weren’t there long though before being reeled back in.

Not long after, 1 rider of Eichler (NetApp) gets away. Looks like he might be staying there for now, too. 2 Riders try to bridge the gap, and they make it too. Now, Pineau (OPQ) and Kurek (CCC) have joined the lead. With 100 km to go, the three have a commanding lead of 6.40, while our riders are keeping near the front out of trouble.
With 90 km to go, Katusha and BMC start working on that gap. With 40 km to, Vacansoleil start to help, as do we.

With 15 k’s to go, there is still a minute to the break. All the lead out trains start getting themselves sorted, including ours.

Still 10 k’s left to go, and 30 seconds to the lone rider of Eichler. It started with him, and now it ends with him.
Unfortunately, Bozic was boxed in with 2 km to go, and struggled to find a gap. He punches through, is it enough?

No, it isn’t but 5th is still a strong result. Just not the day today… Congratulations to Blythe though for the win. This puts him in the Leader’s Jersey, but Bozic still has the points to keep him king of the sprinters for now. Blythe probably won’t hold his jersey after tomorrow’s stage, where Kiserlovski is expected to go head to head with Chris Anker Sorenson. We need to stay as close to him as we can, as we are expected to lose time in the time trial in 2 days’ time.

Tour de San Luis
Stage 3
A hillier stage today, with an uphill finish awaiting us. This stage is going to pave the way for the time trial afterwards, then onto the mountainous stages. Add a high wind to the mix at 50 – 60 (kts?), legs sure will be sore this evening.
Kiserlovski is one of the favourites today; let’s see if he can perform.
There were many attacks in the first few kilometres, but they were kept under control. Bozic eventually got into the BOTD in an attempt to get some more points for his jersey. He was unfortunately not successful in this endeavour. BMC, Sky and Saxo controlled the race for most of the day.
It was a good day for Marycz (CCC) today, as he won both mountain points. This put him into the jersey. Just after the second climb of the day, 2 riders tried to bridge the gap to the break away. One of these was Di Luca, a favourite for the finish. They were chased back immediately.
With 60 km to go, Saxo took the reins completely, with the break having 3.30 at 50 km to go. Doesn’t look like they’ll be there at the end.
With 30-25 to go, there was a flurry of attacks. Our guys were at the front controlling it. One of these attacks contained Vandewalle, and Kiserlovski decides it’s time to go. The 2 opened a small gap, and continued to ride. Unfortunately the bunch wasn’t content, and bought the 2 back.
By the looks of it, Sorenson has form and opens up a gap in the bunch sprint. None of our guys can follow, and consequently none in the top 10 for the stage.

Thanks to the break, Bozic is fourth overall, with Kiserlovski in 12th. Bozic has also lost the points jersey .

Tour de San Luis
Stage 4
Today’s stage is a 19.2 km individual time trial. It doesn’t really play to any of our riders’ strengths, but our main goal is for Kiserlovski to not lose too much time. The stage is pretty much flat.
Eichler (NetApp) starts today, after a bad day in the saddle yesterday. Pavlin is the first rider from Mobitel – Optima off.
Frapponti hits a car:

Koren takes 5th in the intermediate check as a provisional position. He is 5 seconds down.
Kiserlovski checks out a spectator. No time for that now!

It was a bad day for us today, with Kiserlovski now 31st, 1.33 behind. Lots of work to be done over the next couple of stages!

Ian: He is
Sutty: That wasn't all. Spectators, trashcans and benches all had to be ridden through on this stage. It was quite funny!
Selwink: He's alright, just wish he wasn't winning at the moment...
Luigi: I hope she was worth it...

Tour de San Luis
Stage 5
The first of the mountain stages, with this one finishing on a plateau after a major climb. The rest of the stage is rather flat, leaving it up to the final climb to sort the men from the boys. Kiserlovski is looking for time here.
Lots of attacks from the front, with Bozic going with them to try and get some more points to claw back some ground.

However, every time the break looks to be established, more try to bridge the gap and this claws the break back.
Eventually, 8 riders get clear including Bozic. At the first sprint, Bozic is caught napping and missed out on some points. He however gets the second sprint and moves up to second on the classification.
Once the break gets caught, Kiserlovski, Kluge and Vandewalle decide to go.
However, Sorenson takes off. Kiserlovski and Kern chase. Siutsou joins just after Kiserlovski gets dropped by Kern.

Eventually they are joined by 8 others. All 10 now are chasing Kern who is chasing Sorenson.

Sorenson gets the win, with Kern second and Kiserlovski not in the top 10. He did receive the same time as the other 9 in his group, but it is looking to be too early in the season for him.

There is still time however for Kiserlovski to get some time back, and we will be trying everything to get him back towards the pointy end of the race. And thanks to Sorenson winning, Bozic is back to third in the points.
