I would be very surprised to see Cavendish win tomorrow, even just seing him in the top 10. This isn't some weak prep race, it's the Tour de France and I am pretty sure that he will be dropped before the final kilometer or being left too far behind in the peloton. |

Sagan or Gilbert for me but with an aside that Cavendish will be interesting to keep an eye on to see what the weight loss has done for him... |

Do you guys reckon that Gretsch and Grivko will lose positions in the GC tomorrow?

Prediction for today. Hoogerland will be in the break.
Favourites for the stage: Sagan, Gilbert, LLS. |

Well, Grivko stayed in the main field on the similar climb to Saint-Félicien in the Dauphiné. Would surprise me if he gets dropped on such easy climb.
For Gretsch, I'll just say I'm not familiar enough with his climbing capacity.

Fabian to stay in yellow. I hope Sagan doesn't win, so I'm saying a surprise like maybe Cav or Goss, or a Chavanel/Valverde type.

So the climb begins very steep for few hundred metres. Then it eases out completely and then rises for 700 metres to average 6-7% gradients with 10% at it's highest and eases out at the end.

A pure sprinter won't win, I'm pretty sure of that. Maybe Sagan actually.

That's interesting. The profile on the Tour's website makes it look a lot easier by just showing that the average percentage is about 4,5%.
Can't see past Sagan now. Gilbert and Cancellara to join him on the podium.

Like I already said, I think it's pretty perfect for Gilbert.
He showed that he's finally getting in shape, yesterday.
Sagan will have to get past him if he wants to win.
And if Gilbert would win, I wonder if he'd take yellow. Cancellara is getting good but he's not his regular self yet, he's not in the best shape. |

Imo it isn't steep enough. Either Sagan or EBH will win this. I'm just not sure if Goss and Cav will have a go as well.

No way Cancellara loses 13 seconds to Gilbert (or anyone for that matter) there. It's just not hard enough.

Here are some pictures from the steeper parts of the final climb I took from Street View on Google Maps. There are some cobbles as well, to make it even harder.

Btw, apparently they won't race all the way to the top of the climb you posted, Alakagom. They're finishing at 204m, which means that the second hard part with ~10% won't be climbed. So just the first, very steep part, then basically a flat finish.
I'm still going with Sagan, but with Cavendish for a Top 5.

It's a stage perfectly made for Peter Sagan. |

Well, the "flat" finish is still like 500m @5%, so not really flat.

Yeah, I noticed that. Still easier than if they'd ridden the whole climb.
