FIFA was dreadful till '09 and PES was the leader by a mile, in terms of gameplay and realism (relatively speaking). FIFA improved dramatically in '09 but '10 was a big evolutionary step forward and at that point it really became the better product. Noting this was largely because it tried to clone PES gameplay in many respects. It did so very well and has improved upon it by now. FIFA 12 is the best soccer game out there right now. It's a while since FIFA was an arcade style game.
I'll pick them both up - at some point PES will rebound, perhaps. It's lost such a big share of the market.
It was eleven more than necessary.

Fifa is better by miles i was a PES man but wow that got so arcady the last 2 years i thought i was playing on an old international soccer superstars.
Fifa now controls about 80% of the market too so Online is very hard on Division 2 and above which makes it more attractive to me. |

I was a fan of PES for many years. Always preferred that game over FIFA ... until the day I gave FIFA another shot (08, I think) and actually game to like it.
I tried reverting to PES two years ago, but it felt like a step backwards of 2-3 years. Nothing seemed right - it even seemed arcade-like to me, in terms of psychics, shots and more that I don't remember right now.
Add to that the missing licenses and the fact that all your friends play FIFA, thus you can't play online with anyone you know ... well, it's an easy choice, at least for me |

I'm gonna picked up both again. In the last 2 years i'm been buying both, beeing FIFA for PC and PES for PS2. I loved PES since I was a kid, and I am still a PES fan. In the last year tough, I foung that FIFA is as good as PES in terms of gameplay, altough I hope that PES evolve in quality of gameplay for others platmorfs without beeing PC or PS3. |

In Fifa, the ball is glued to the footballer completly, unlike PES, where the ball jumps depending on the impact spot, same with shots.
In Fifa you can also make a simple 50 metres long air ball centres, like it was the easiest thing to do, in PES only few players can do that, rest can be unprecise like in real.
In Fifa there are like five ways to score a goal and you can do that again and again, nothing more than that.
And licences? Guys , i thought we all play PCM to know, what is a megapatch that changes everything. you can download PES EDIT patch in an hour an everything is fine with realistic names, balls, stadiums, stats and many more. Also with the official licensed Champions and Europa leagues.
But it is choice of every one of us, however i feel some people are a bit driven by the EA massive hype every year and their online mods, that overshadow the flaws of the game.

Once, I went to a friend of mine and we played FIFA on the Playstation. After that I went home and I played PES on the PC. I must say that PES wins by a mile for me. FIFA is too predictive and I don't like the faces of the players. They look horrible.

Your first point, has actually been fixed this year. Players aren't glued to the ball, anymore and its quite fun to play. The passing can easily be fixed by putting it on Manual, which is usually better anyway.
I find that in Fifa the game is sorta the same, but there are much more than 5 ways to score, and online its a whole different game. This year, on the demo of Fifa, the game players pretty well.
Plus you cant forget ALL the flaws with PES. Sure the gameplay is alright (I used to prefer it, until I started to notice its pretty weird as well) and of course the robotic animations, lack of stadium atmoshphere, less teams, a much worse offline career mode, and so less replay value. Online less people play it.
I at one point thought PES was the better game, but I was just too used to Fifa, until I started to work on playing Full Manual controls, and now its a lot more fun.
You should obviously give both demos a try. I think PES is getting better and better once again, but Fifa is still my pick.

FIFA's CARIEER MODE IS EASY. And boring :/ But in FIFA you can play be a goalkeeper in normal mode
PES's CARIEER MODE IS VERY SIMPLE. But new races or something.. so its diversionary.

I've played both games and my choice is FIFA by far. PES seems too robotic I don't know... FIFA has an incredible Gameplay. They took a giant step in comparison to PES this year. |

what have they done to PES it feels to have gone backwords:/ been playing the demo and to be honest it's a backwards step hopefully the release will be better while fifa is the same game few more animations and you now can't pass the ball stupidly fast as they will take a bad touch.
