39 José Angel Gomez Marchante Café de Colombia + 3'19 - not a great position to be in going into the mountains. |

He might be quick to attack. I reckon that will be very important in this pack. Otherwise there will be some 15-20 riders going over the top together...

Seeing how shitty Contador coped with his injury in the Vuelta I had no hopes of seeing him among the best here, so very pleassant result. Hopefully he can keep up with the best in the coming stages, and stay on his bike. I still have my doubts.

Fothen in yellow is fine since Pearl did do a lot of work during the stage. If you're going to have the work, might as well get something out of it
Also, Mondory

Hmm, that might be the first fall of my leader in a race. But since Pedraza managed to gap his "first attacker" companions I guess he's not injured. A positive note from a go all out and fail attempt.

This is becoming more interesting as it develops. Domenico's top10 and the teams' classification would satisfy my expectations. I think Pozzovivo can even reach top5 but that would require a luck bonus.
Let's go boys. I won't tolerate you losing to little girls like Nespresso's riders!

Contador lost the wheel there. Will be interesting to see if he can do good in the next stage. I expect Spilak to win this race though...

Great win that for Gomez Marchante. Makes up a bit for a washout on the GC. |

Good stage from Contador. Looks like he could be in for top 5 if he doesn't fuck up that last stage. Ricco will take him out for sure, but I don't quite know the others hilly strength

Contador did quite OK here. Not the race perfectly suited for him, and with a super strong peloton a 5th place here is quite good. Seems i'm taking back points on La Gazzetta here which is good, but losing on Pearl, Lipton and Domina is bad... Will be interesting to see just how close the top battle is before the Tour de France.

Wtf? You've got to be kidding me.
Pozzovivo dropping from 7th to 15th wasn't bad enough as it was we also had to lose the teams classification??? Camon, this is supposed to be Christmas!

Rankings
Of the Dauphine scorers, Sella is in 3rd, Intxausti 5th, Plaza 8th, Nibali 12th and Spilak 23rd

Fothen leads Pearl Adidas up to 3rd place, while Nibali has helped Domina to 4th, and Lipton are up to 6th - Festina fall 2 places, while Auber fall 3 - are they starting the fall back to where they where expected to be this season? Its still all very tight from 2nd down to 12th though, plenty can change.
In the relegation fight, even their biggest score of the season cannot lift Warner Brothers out of the danger zone, they will desperately need a good TDF, as do many others - Philips included, who now drop below them.
