Okay, thanks everyone for the replies, but it's too much to reply to from my side Grin

Garmin is definitely being considered. Also Feillu is moving there, which may be the perfect man to pull the sprint for Stijn!

Anyway, Classic Hamburg coming up, and it's hell Angry

I looked it up, this Ian guy you're talking about has twenty-freaking-seven posts per day here. Must have no life or something.

Nah, you know I'm just kidding Wink I'll just leave a late congratulations for an amazing Tour, a good comeback for Stijn and for almost 100 pages. I'd say keep it up but I feel like I'd be charging an open door Pfft

Ian Butler
That guy Ian sure is a no-lifer. I wouldn't want to be him, to tell you the truth! Pfft
It's almost my PCM.Daily-anniversary here, by the way Grin (May 1st)

Anyway, here's Hamburg Angry

Stijn: With my sprint from Veenendaal, I should be able to sprint for the win here. A podium would be good, though. These are World Tour Points that are valuable for the team. Though we'll be leaving the team, we still want to win the UCI Team Rankings!

The Race

Stijn Van Gent

Omega Pharma - Quickstep and Team Argos - Shimano. Nobody else lifted so much as a finger today.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/hamburg02_zps5db31e00.jpg

And then I got bullshitted. I don't say it much, in fact this is the first time I used the past tense of bullshit, but I'm saying it. So many strong teams here, and what do the sprinters do? They brought down the pace and forced me the lead, I've never seen anything like it!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/hamburg03_zps643e3784.jpg

A 2km sprint is too much for me. Still I was holding the lead.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/hamburg04_zps063b2569.jpg

But one man was able to catch me from behind. Before the race I said podium would be good, but this way, no. I'm not happy.

Aftermath

I'm not happy, certainly not. They forced me the lead, highly unsportsmanlike, if you'd ask me.

Willy has let me know he wants to join me in my schedule in either Plouay or the World Port Classics. He made the WC TT selection so he wants to get in a racing rhythm. He also saw I wasn't too happy today and he wants to help me in the sprint.

Overijse is a special race for me. Two starts, two victories. I'll be happy to start there,
Stijn

You didn't get BSd. You got strategized against and beaten.

Ian Butler
baseballlover312 - If you had been there, it was BS. Stupid sprinting bug so everyone stopped riding and Stijn suddenly in front. Really annoying that bug at times.

krisa - Indeed! That's the good news.

Stijn: IT was one of my first professional victories, and last year I returned to make it twice in a row. This year I return to make it three on a row. Looking at the relatively weak field, I should pull it off. If I do, I probably won't return next year.

The Race

Stijn Van Gent

The field is weaker than usual, strangely, so I'm the absolute favorite. We took our responsibility as a team.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/over02_zps0716ed5b.jpg

The combination of the weak field and great legs made me feel superior today, with more than 50 km left to go, I just went. Nobody had any answer.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/over03_zps14884083.jpg

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/over04_zps2195a32d.jpg

I kept gaining time on the chasing group. I make it three for three.

Aftermath

Well. It's a victory.
This race last lost a lot of its prestige over the years and apparently it's not an important race anymore, looking at the list of starters. To give riders from continental teams a chance, I probably won't return here next season. However, I'd like to return here one day and break Roger De Vlaeminck's record of four wins! Also, it's nice to be undefeated somewhere!
Either way, any victory has to be fought for and this has given me the confidence I need for Plouay!
Until then,
Stijn

Jesleyh
Wow, that was... Easy.
Nice to see Stijn grabbing a victory now, only getting 2nd and 3rd can get annoying Pfft

I know I might be late but: Congratulations with you podium in Paris Grin
Stijs seems to ride in a league 3 place higher than the rest of the field Wink
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

Jesleyh - Very true. Even if it's at a much lower rated race, it's good for the confidence. Now he can finish his season relaxed, and riding relaxed might bring in more victories Wink

SSJ2Luigi - Well, almost 6 minutes Pfft

alex valceanu - Competition will be much tougher, but Stijn's not afraid of anyone!

krisa - True Wink

Miguel98 - I like that definition Pfft might make the Urban Dictionary one day Grin

PCM rulezz - Thanks a lot! Stijn reminds me of the young Boonen! Hope he can race a palmares like him, too!

I'm going to have a Sopranos - marathon now, but you can expect Plouay tomorrow before noon! I'm very excited about the final 10 races of the season, hoping to get Stijn maybe a couple more wins to enter the winter happy Grin
