Haha, that Oomen. It's entertaining for sure, but I'll be cursing so much when there's actually points on the line.
Spilak is almost there, I don't see him collapse now.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well done by Spilak to defend on what didn't look to be his best day. The final mountain stage looks a lot harder though, which means Herklotz should be given a final chance. Though, no question Spilak has looked very, very solid after he claimed the pink jersey.
Thank you for the report, roturn, and nice to see Olivier deliver something to celebrate for your team too. |

Hopefully Aru didn't waste too much energy and can go again tomorrow even though it will be pretty hard for him to get the KoM jersey since he doesn't seem to be the fastest in these mountain sprint for points.
Gesink is having an amazing Giro! Very close to complete his record with podium in all three GTs.

That result by Gesink does put a big smile on my face! Great Giro for him and triumphing in a stage I wouldn't expect him to is a big plus. Not to jinx anything but if he catches a great form tomorrow he does have a chance to mayyyybe very potentially aim to perhaps threaten the 2nd place with that closing TT. But it's the toughest stage after all so I'm only asking him to hold onto that sweet podium.
Thanks roturn for the thrilling report!

Well, that is where the hill stat still matters, I guess. With Spilak's weakness, we really should've won that to make him doubt himself tomorrow. I'll take the 40 points and 12 seconds gained at the moment though.
What I will NOT take is the awful performances by Arndt and Vasyliv! They didn't chase at all today and STILL finished 6 and 7 minutes down??
Besides losing the teams classification to Gazelle for good now (Kruijswijk should be illegal), that's just pathetic. They both might not even make the Top 30 overall.
Considering even having strength in numbers doesn't mean the teams are interested in chasing the breaks late or in preparing attacks, maybe I should just start focusing the TTT GTs.
Congrats matt! Definitely not who I expected to win that sprint.
Surely a Top 10 overall is possible for Generali now.
One thing is very clear for tomorrow: we need to reel in the break! And then go full gas and leave it all on the road.
It doesn't look like Spilak will lose enough time on the road, but even if we only manage to take 12 or maybe even 20 bonus seconds on him again, we could bring the gap down into a range that a great TT day could make up.
I think at most there are 20 seconds in it considering it'll likely be a 50/50 TT/PRL ratio, which puts both of them on 76. The descent obviously helps Herklotz.

Another great day!
Formolo: no shame in having to let go of the favorites. Winning time on riders like Haig and Konig is great because we need a buffer for the TT.
Kruijswijk: mister breakaway is actually adapting very well to GC riding. His ability to stick to stronger climbers is impressive.
Kangert: we needed him to have a good day for the TC and he delivered by cleverly going into the break. Nice job Tanel!

Oh Spilak what are you doing? Hopefully he doesn't fade away. He should've finished this a lot better.

Smith again in the break, good stuff. Haig dropping to 10th, as somehow expected, given his struggles over the past mountain stages.. GC 7th place still possible though, if he delivers according to his TT advantage over those guys ahead of him. If only the course was a few kms longer.

Yes! What an Important win by Spilak! Time gal to Gesink is now sufficient, let's hope he can hold of Herklotz on the final stage...

So close for Oomen, but I'm certainly happy with the performance he and Gaviria gave me.
Spilak did what he had to do, I can't see him lose it now.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Great to see Henao trying at least, but all in all a failed Giro for us

Darren "The Barbadian Beauty" Matthews steals last place overall! I don't think he'll move up now, although who knows what can happen in a GT finale...
That said we might break the 11hr mark, but ending in double digit hours is a real achievement. Good work lads!

A calmer than expected last mountain stage means that the podium is pretty much secured! Hopefully Gesink can top this Giro off with a top performance in the last stage which would truly be the cherry on top of a perfectly ridden GIro.
Spilak's still got it as it turns out, congrats Croatia! I'd say that last stage is merely a formality now.

Great to see both Iturria and Nesset in the break. Would have expected better from Nesset, but guess he just suddenly ran out of legs after over Passo Manghen. Iturria fought good on the other hand.
Looks like we'll have two guys top 25 in the end, so happy about that! A little pity that we lost Peng on the stage, but oh well. Congrats to Croatia on the stage win. Looks good for Spilak now!

Disappointing last few stages from Yates there, though in truth they weren't bad results - he just finally stopped overperforming
Looking at the profile and length of the TT he should have enough in hand over the stronger TTers behind to hold onto 6th, which would be a fantastic result. Chances are we won't score particularly highly still as bar a few good results for Kemboi we've been nowhere on most of the stages, but it's useful points to ensure we aren't as good as relegated by the end of April. |

Congratulations on the Giro win Croatia! Again, moaning yields results!
A worthy winner, and a great duel on every stage besides the very first one that mattered.
A single moment of hybris decided this Giro, and our unwillingness to risk it all by chasing breaks and making bonus seconds available whenever possible kept it that way.
One more chance for a stage win! It'll be hard against Gesink, but this is basically the stage 1 TT we won with some additional descending, even better for us.

Good try from the team putting both Tvetcov and Lunke up front. That was also why we brought them here, to try for such things.
Congratulations on the stage win, Croatia! And with that, the overall GC should be very safe as well. I struggle to see Spilak lose that much time to Herklotz in the final TT, if any time at all! |

Nice to see Spilak still on top of things. congrats croatia! Would be cool to see him defend the gap on the final rest day.
Pretty disappointed with Vosekalns. He should have gotten more out if this race.
Thanks for the reports. It was a cool race to follow
