It's the last stage today, and it's the mountain TT. Can Reichenbach hold his 6th place in the GC?
First surprise of the day was when Keller arrived at the finish line, setting a new best time. He managed to keep his best time for a while. This result seemed promising for the upcoming Tissot reiders that would fit todays task better than Keller who is neither a good Time Trialist nor a decent climber.
Next up was Gross who finished as a good 4th. Meanwhile Keller was still positioned as 8th, he made up a lot of positions today.
The next rider from Tissot was Fumeaux, he crossed the line as 3rd. Followed by Schelling who finished once again as 4th.
Only Reichenbach was left now. He knew if he could perform well today a top 5 in the GC was possible. But the concurence was fierce.
Garzelli (VIN) who started right behind Reichenbach set up a high pace, he was almost catching up to him! Reichenbach finished as 6th, but Grazelli (VIN) just demolished the concurence, finishing 37 seconds faster than Reichenbach.
Reichenbach keps his 6th GC place and takes home the youth jersey. All in all a good week for Reichenbach and Tissot.
Welcome to Hungary for todays race. This hilly race could be a good chance to show of the teams strenghts. We'll see...
As usual a breakaway got away and the peloton chased them back.
30 km to go: Th breakaway is just 2 minutes ahead as the peloton to start upping the pace once more. Reichenbach looks very relaxed today as he seems not too worried about the outcome today.
10 km to go: The breakaway gets caught. It's all even now again. Reichenbach is well placed up front.
8 km to go: Golcer (TIR) attacks and Reichenbach tryes to follow, but he can't catch his wheel. Looks like Reichenbach is paying for his long season.
3 km to go: Golcer (TIR) will take home the victory. Reichenbach managed to take the wheel of Steensen (GLU).
He'll be sprinting for the third place... Steensen (GLU) takes third, a close call tho.
Bienvenue for the first stage of the tour trough the pyrénées. Todays stage will finish going downhill, so the peloton will most likely end up together.
As usual a breakaway got away. But with the peloton controling their lead it was no big treat.
20 km to the finish: Just 1 riders is still up front with just 2 minutes. He probably won't make it. So it looks like Hofstetter will be sprinting for the stage victory today. He's been conserving his energy during todays stage and hopefully he can show a good result in todays finish.
5 km to go: Tissot is moving ther train up ahead.
1 km to go: Hofstetter launches his sprint. He's well placed but he can't keep up with the best, finishing as 9th.
Day 2 of the 4 day tour. Today we are in the mountains, so it'll be the terrain for Pache. Can he compete with the results of Reichenbach this season? Let's find out:
The race started out really fast, as the peloton descided they didn't wanted to let the breakaway go. After several km of hard fight the situation calmed down a bit and the peloton started to slow down.
20 km to the finish: The peloton just reached the final climb. Pache is well placed and seems still in a good shape. Let's see if he can keep up with the best.
5 km to go: Pache hast lost some places to the stage favourites, but he is still looking good as he keeps his pace. He might still have some reserves for the final sprint in him?
2 km to go: Pache tryes to catch up and attacks, but he can't make up any ground anymore.
The second mountain stage of this tour. Today the stage will end up in a downhill, might that help Pache to place well? We'll have to see...
As usual a breakaway tryed their luck. Buth with todays race profile it was doubtful for them to get trough.
The peloton took it rather slow and seemed to enjoy the ride, prepearing for the last big mountains that would follow.
60 km to the finish: The peloton upped their speed and many riders had their problem with that high pace, falling off one by one.
20 km to go: Having been surprised, Pache lost a lot of time to the leaders, now having to chase on his own. Not looking good for Pache today...
15 km left: He manages to pass many riedrs, but the distance between him and the front group keeps getting bigger. Pache will have to let them go and try another day.
Question: Have any key ratings for the main riders changed since the start of the season? Like Reichenback is still a 73 MO or improved? Pache MO 68? Tschopp MO 64? And Oliver SP 68?
With the team eager to show a better performance than in France, the race would promise something.
Top 10, that was the teams goal for today. Right from the start there was a breakaway of 4, containing Bierli . They rode well together, expanding their lead.
100 km to go: The breakaway had a lead of almost 7 minutes, but the peloton started chasing them down now...
60 km left: The breakaway was still up front with a little over 4 minutes.
35 km left: With just 2:30 both the peloton and the breakaway started to up their pace. The goal so close the breakaway didn't wanted to get overtaken anymore. Bierli was doing very good so far.
20 km to the line: Bierli breaks down in the last steep climb. It's now that the favourites attack, Pache in the peloton can't follow their incredible pace.
10 km to go: Every man for himself. Pache can't keep up with the high pace up front. He tryes to follow the wheel of Schleck (RLT), but those WT guys are just too strong for Pache as he follows behind.
The race was quiet for a long time today. The breakaway got ahead and the peloton slowly chased them back down.
20 km to go: The pace is very high now. Pache manages to stay in it. Can he show his talent today?
10 km left: The leaders attack, Pache can't follow, he's trying to catch back up to them, but it doesn't look too good.
2 km to the line: Pache managed to stay in it for the top 10. If he can outsprint his 3 opponents he takes 10th place...
Close call! He just got beaten for 10th place on the line!
