He did not get fired just indefinitely suspended..
I assume that suspension would last until he would apologize or take back what he said. I guarantee that won't happen. Duck Dynasty will definitely move to a new network.

They already filmed the next season, so he will still be on the channel for now... but they are no longer filming new episodes with him in it..
Does anyone have a link to watch the remarks he made or was it not on video?

I think the $$ they will lose from no DD will outweigh having a bad rep for showing people who disagree with gays on a TV show.

Christianity doesn't disagree with homosexuality. I can't understand why any person could claim someone else is wrong for being who they want to be. And before you claim that I'm an ignorant atheist, I go to church regularly and went to a church school. And not once did I see anything to substantiate claims of Homosexuality being wrong. |

It claims it is an "abomination." Which does not make it a sin, or wrong in that sense. But it is wrong in the fact that it doesn't work to serve the purpose of sexuality.
But anyway, what the hell do we need this debate for. Christmas is in 5 days. Everyone just be happy and play PCM. Peace.

Well, under the former popes sex was meant only as a mean of human reproduction. Not sure with the current one who seem more open-minded on a lot of topics.
Anyway, that's why they forbid or discouraged the use of condoms, and why gay sex wouldn't make sense to them, etc. I guess that's more or less this guy's stance. |

Times have changed. What was true of society when the bible was written is not true. Why can't people accept that people have differences and laws from a book written a long time ago can no longer be used as reasoning? I don't care if people agree with homosexuality or not, its when they say it is wrong. What is wrong for one is not wrong for all. |

Finally back to the site after some busy days, first attending the European Championship in swimming (covering it for TV 2), then straight on the World Championship in handball (although from "home", not on location in Serbia).
With Denmark being eliminated today, I'm now a free man. It's Christmas time  |

Simply put, sure they might lose money in the short term but it beats having a bad image and/or long term ramifications. You are seeing the side that he gets suspended. With the media these days, if he were not suspended the criticism would've been perhaps even greater.
Hypothetically, had I been homosexual, I really wouldn't have taken offense to the statements though. I would just think of it as wrong and ignorant...but with the issue so big nowadays I wouldn't want viewers to think: "Oh, Phil's that guy who hates gays" (and it's not like he hadn't had some controversy over religion before).

EDIT: I'm not going to judge you based on whether you think homosexuality is right or not personally. To me, that seems irrelevant.
