A very underwhelming race for us. I think 82 MO Pogacar was a lot better than this current version so I doubt if it's worth investing more into him.
Thanks for all the reports even through the holiday times.

Wow, just what the doctor ordered for Olivier after that crazy bad TT stage. Wasn't expecting to see him in the break until the last few days, but into the Top 10 going into Week 3 looks nice. So much can still happen but I like our activity on the mountain stages even if the flat stages had been disappointing.

And then back to terrible. Why did we go for a back to back breakaway - and even then, how was Olivier so weak? Just undid all our good work and have the fatigue of two stages of attacking in our legs now. Awful.

Thank you for another exciting report, kb!
Sensational stuff by Williams from the favourites group Take that as a sign he can potentially try for a breakaway in the final week
And these are amazing days for Rabobank and Jura. What a race for both teams and managers! Congratulations again |

A bit unfortunate that McNulty lost time in the end after initially being the only one to stick with Kudus. Anyways, I couldn’t have asked for a much better position for him to be in at this point in the race. Some tough stages are still coming up and realistically the three guys behind him Kudus, Pogacar and Bernal should still catch him. I hope he keeps the challenge up and maybe with some luck it will be enough for a podium in the end. Thanks for the great race coverage so far! |

I'm not even mad about Bonifazio not making it. Verwilst is getting all my anger this race.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

What a nice Christmas present!
@ember, it hasn't been that great of a race for us until this stage. A couple of very timid showings by Champoussin and that was it.
But it looks like he finally started doing what he was brought here for: stage wins and KoM. Hopefully he will continue being aggressive in the next mountain stages. He is a bit high up in the GC now, but the game doesn't seem to be having a problem with that so far when it comes to Darbellay or Barguil.
What a weird melt down from Bernal today. Favorites seems to be having such big swings that it's impossible to say who will take the GC. Maybe Champoussin can snatch it through a lucky breakaway

Congrats to alexkr on the stage win. Its a shame fab isn't here to see the work Darbellay is putting in as well. I'm a bit more reassured after this stage, but as alex said this is all over the place and anything can happen.

What an insane stage, this time gaps are crazy. Congrats Alex, your man is such a fun rider to follow. Instantly invalidating a 10 minute time loss in the TT must be a good feeling also.
Stüssi though, not the best stage to go for the break mate. He was surprisingly weak again considering his stat brother is now wearing the Maglia Rosa. Anything can happen still, but he’s not convincing.
Hopefully Gaviria can do something tomorrow. Literally anything. Let’s see if we can at least control the break.
Thanks for the lovely report!

What a crazy stage there. Carthy's attack ends up as barely a footnote in a wild roller coaster of events. Ultimately not a good move for us considering he just wasted energy there. Still somehow gaining on Bernal, who I guess used an entire week's worth of energy in that TT. Not that his team support is great, but not sure why he felt responsible to reel in guys like Aular and Carthy on his own.
With every day that goes by, it seems more likely we're going to need late breakaway luck to even have a sliver of success here. Our team isn't attacking cause the game clearly sees Carthy as a significant GC player, but as is, his GC will be irrelevant. At least AKA survived one more day.
Thanks for the report! I imagine it was especially hard to keep track of everything on a day like that.

Yeah, could say I overreacted, but that first breakaway appearance where he grabbed KoM points, but Darbellay won, surely Ali must be a success when banking on breakaway success and KoM points? At least it felt like that was the start for what we saw now And having two stages like that this early in a GT, can’t be anything, but great, I feel, especially if he was brought to do breakaways |

So many riders representing so many teams joined the stage 15 break, but we weren't there. Not even joining breaks on the easier stage now with Holm Jorgensen ott. Not sure why we never get breakaway luck. The race was effectively over for us since the mountains started.

I guess I have to close my eyes in regards to what Giannoutsos is doing in this race. Atleast Zingle scores some points. Our GC guys certainly don’t…

Finally some points for Kooij.
Don't know how to feel about Champoussin's time loss. Could be a good thing, giving him more freedom, but could also end up costing him a spot or two in the GC. We'll see.

Admittedly this has been a Giro to forget for Groenewegen. Fingers crossed we can turn it around on the final day! |

Sad AKA didn't contest that one at all. I guess too tired after yesterday or something.
Commiserations to those who lost time pointlessly today.

Thank goodness for that. Not really sure what we were doing at the end there, and it wasn’t looking good for Gaviria being without a train and in the wind under the 1km banner. He somehow managed to sprint for 1k and stay in front which is so strange, I guess he really saved himself on those mountain stages? Good to take the points jersey, but it’s still so close behind with Kemboi breathing down his neck. Going to be a tense final stage.
Thanks for the report kb!

Amazing! Very happy McNulty could get himself a stage win here. I’m not too sad about him not getting pink because my team is probably not strong enough to support that. I expect huge gaps on the final 2 mountain stages so anything can happen still. |
