Yet again I failed a story. It's really getting to be a habit. Well, story-writing isn't easy, let me tell you.
Suddenly a took a life-changing decision (college) and it didn't do my story-writing any good. Mostly I don't have a lot of time and when I have, the thought of racing + writing a report is not something to look forward to, to be honest.
A comment made in some other thread (I forgot where, I think Project Benelux) caught my attention. Too many stories are too impulsive. Mine certainly fall under that category. They die out way too soon.
So here's what I'll do. Firstly, I'll devote most of my time to school, because (unfortunately), that's important. Then I'll definitely hang around the site, because it's my actually my way of relaxing between studying. As for any (future) stories, I might have an idea that might work much better than what I've done so far.
I'll start a career on PCM and play a bit whenever I have time, just for myself, no reports, no story. If I manage to get through an entire season, and maybe I've adopted the college-life a bit better and can handle time better, I might start it up as a story, starting in 2013. That way I can play a bit without having to write reports, which take longer than playing, I'll just take some screenshots of 2012 highlights and save some results so if I would start in 2013, I could give a nice little intro about what happened in 2012. What do you think of that? That way it won't be impulsive, I'll already care for the team/rider/... because when I survive 1 season, I can usually keep on playing. And by the time I've gone through one season (could take a while, though), I'll have gotten used to college, hopefully, and gone through the most major tastks and hopefully I'll be able to do reports then, dividing my time better.
Mostly I want to go back to the roots of story writing: enjoying the game and enjoying making the reports and enjoying the comments. Therefore I have to start enjoying the game first, and try to get some structure in my life.
Hope you understand.

Don't worry! I understand how it feels since i came from a school with almost no homework and went on to a school with homework everyday. It broke me down. I think it's good that you're stopping to focus more on school. |

Just quit college, you can earn money with your writing-skills
But of course I understand... It's a shame, but life over PCM...
Good luck!

There's no need and no joy in writing a story if the motivation isn't good at all. And of course "time", the usual killer, is something we're all up against, when doing our hobbies, and is something that can drop the motivation significantly.
I've tried it before, several times, and it just didn't work out, to hold up an already dying story. But when that's said, i'm sure we haven't seen the last of you yet

Playing a career without doing a story - hmm, I wonder what that's like...
Definitely the right decision to take a break if you don't have the time / motivation to continue. Take it easy, and return whenever you feel ready for it.

Firstly, you haven't failed the story, real life took over and there is nothing wrong with that at all
Secondly, it is a great idea to play your career without writing about it just to see if you have the motivation, because that way you won't have to apologise to anyone if you decide you can't do it |
