Oooohhhh....so close. Only consolation is that Intxausti is also wasting energy up at the front of the peloton. |

Valverde takes the jersey.
I'm kind of glad he didn't really attack to take advantage of the fall on what should have been a big stage for him. With the nation and jersey bonus, it's going to take something special or a fall to beat him now.
Having said that, Valverde has been bizzarely quiet the last two stages....so it ain't over til its over.

Very very dramatic... a shame for Intxausti, but what a race for Valverde and Rujano.
Trofimov in 4th? That would be a terrific result for Sony Ericsson, though I think Plaza is a danger man there. I fear for Intxausti, is he going to be on good enough form to be back to his best on the last mountain stage?
Fascinating reading - bit like a train wreck is fascinating viewing... |

Now, with a bit of luck Plaza could even finish third. He just needs a strong ride in the next stage and a time - trial as good as the previous one.

how tragic!
This really reminds me of Anton's situation irl. The Man-Game is becoming seriously realistic for a fantasy game.
I'm sure SN will add some new hair extensions to pull out because of Intxausti

Indeed you can't bash the AI for not being realistic any more, well if you look at all the crashes that happens so often both in the protour but also in the continental. It's actually quite disturbing that now two of the greatest Spanish GC hopes in Contador and long time GC leader Intxausti has crashed...is Valverde or Plaza next before the final stage to Madrid?

Yeah, talk about taking advantage of others misfortunes. Trofimov is doing almost everthing I hoped him to do, the only thing missing is a stage win. With a bit of luck maybe he can keep up with Abal and Plaza in the next stage and then go all out in the TT. At least a 6th place seem to be secured. Just plain awesome.

Been offline for a few days, and it seems like I missed out on some drama here
Philips-wise ... well, the team is just not good enough to compete with the rest. |

That's just damn bad luck, nothing seems to be going Vesuvio's way this season really.
All I need is Reus to make up 5 minutes from somewhere to get into the top 25. |

Its very gutting for Intxausti, who now seems back to his Giro mode of not bothering. He deserves so much more than 8th/9th in this race, and he has probably lost the best chance he will ever have to win a GT. Without the crash, he could probably have matched the way Valverde did on the hills, and theres no way he'd have sat in on the mountain stage. And with SotD i think somehow managing to do a huge favour to mb2612 to max out Madrazo, thats another rider who will probably be better than Intxausti (and maybe all other Spanish riders) all-round.
The only positive is that his wage next season, will probably end up being a fair amount cheaper than if he hadnt of crashed. But he will have lost a good 500 ranking points here, which means Ill get less money altogether from my end ranking this season, to cancel that - plus the fact that you can never think of it helping out next season as being a positive, because the game is oh so fickle.

It's just getting worse and worse... Now it isn't even given that I get a top 20 from this race. Horrible race...

10 seconds between Plaza and the fourth place. I'm positive he can take it in the time - trial. Also with a good ride from him and Cornu there, we could win the team rankings.

Aren't it only the 3 best placed riders that mater for the Team classification?

The best 3 riders in each stage not the GC. In the previous TT we had almost two minutes in front of the next team so I think Cornu, Plaza plus whoever will be our best 3rd rider in the time - trial could bring us the victory.
