That's a big statement Cactus. Didn't you see him on the cover of Zoo magazine last month? He killed it.

Walking Dead has run into the classic Zombie problem. Once you've gone "hey look, Zombies" there is not a lot more to come through. They've done little bits of survivor syndrome and coping with the aftermath, but it's always been a secondary thought in the writing and acting.

Zombies are best left to straight up horror/action set piece style media. Films do this well as they can be dealt with in a short time period and retain the impact. Sequels that develop from there have clearly defined moods and trends which, while not always being fresh, are at least consistent and engaging. The same goes with games. And that is because the focus is always superficial with little deeper meaning.

Or as some cases do it is all about the deeper meaning, and that becomes incredibly engaging at a mental level. However these only work when that extra meaning is the focus. You should be able to replace the Zombies with some other apocalypse/psycho etc up and make no real changes to the overall story, characters etc.

Walking Dead straddles the grey area between the two set ups. Half the time it's "Zombies, let's kill them in nice set pieces" and half the times it's human drama. The whole thing comes off as confused and pretty weak. More recently it has just resorted to shock and awe tactics.

Really not a fan of it. Especially when there are better horror/action with Zombies, and better emotion/psychological with Zombies.

Good analysis. I agree, the whole zombie thing stagnates in a series after a while. Especially when you realise that they're not much of a threat anymore.

The season as yet has been alright, even though half the episodes have been pretty much dealing with an illness spreading. (Yes, it was about as exciting as it sounds).
Much better than the second though. It dragged on and on because AMC didn't increase their budget to purchase another set, thus being stuck on the farm the whole time.

But yeah, it's hit and miss.

So... anyone know anything about computer animation and related software? or about serious video editing and related software?

Okay, two jokes, I can't decide which one to go with, so I'll just use both.
Joke A

Yeah, I saw it. That smug bastard with his shining rims glissening in the sun. I'm going to do a real number on those smug-ass rims! Yeha, I'll give Hawking a proper rim job!

Joke B

Nah, he didn't as much "kill it" as he tried to kill it, but then left it in a crippled state for another 40 years or so.

A few years ago I took a few classes on Macromedia Flash. Only thing I really remember, though, is that Flash is used for computer animation Pfft I do understand a bit more about video editing, using Sony Vegas Pro.

Yes, I apologize for those. I know how much work it is to send mass messages on here, and I can't respond half the time. Sad

Yes, that is something I wish was a bit easier, but I think I might have taken you off the list, I usually do after 4 weeks of inactivity, but if you want back in just tell me or copy and paste from the Prediction game thread!

I wonder how people can actually celebrate Christmas without snow? I mean, even if you're born in Spain, don't you kinda want a white Christmas?

Living in the UK i am incredibly used to a Grey/Brown Christmas with no snow... Let alone Spain!

And as long as i get 1) Presents and 2) Lots of Food, then it's Christmas in all it's glory!
(That said i am actively non-religious)

Annoying to say the least. It's been 9 years (at least at my side of town) where it hasn't snowed at my house. Yet, you can't really feel the difference between 5 degrees and 0, so if it's gonna be that cold it might as well snow. But no. Frown

I swear we have a higher chance of getting a white easter then a white christmas here, always seems to snow feb/ march not december/jan.

if we want a white christmas we might need to have a 14 month year to get the weather back in line.

Stop complaining about not have snow... it sucks. Already around two feet on the ground. Freezing temps everyday, it's no wonder why I'm on PCM.Daily way to much in the winter. Wink
