Great ride for Bonnin and again, Fuglsang proving he is smarter than the others and winning this stage. 38' is pretty good and i think you can hang on to it even though it's far from the end. Wink

@ tsmoha - I did too, but it all came together near the top, after the favourites played a cat and mouse game. We couldn't pace either, with Bonnin in front. Wink

Back to flat today, with another stage for the sprinters. There's not really anything to say about this one, except that it'll be an interesting mass sprint.

The day's breakaway was without chance today, due to the usual control from Lotto and GreenEDGE. A shame for Posthuma and his companions.

The last few pieces of the escape group got swepped up just inside the final ten kilometers. Our train in good position, just behind the very front.

We improved the position even more under the banner indicating five km left, by taking this on from the absolute front. The GreenEDGE train was shattered, so Cavendish and Sagan chose to follow us.

Unfortunately Bozic wasn't as strong as Boom once he took over, and we lost the top position to the last leadout from Lotto and GreenEDGE. Van Hummel latched on to Bennati's wheel.

Howard took the lead in the final thousand meters, with Greipel and Bennati closely monitoring him. Van Hummel found a perfect gap on the right hand side, and pounced.

No chance for us today. Sagan overtook everyone in the very last meters to win the stage by a very small margin. Van Hummel settled for a clear fourth place. Still not bad considering the names ahead.

Quite a lot of flat stages in this Vuelta. Another one comes up here. It's mostly slight downhill along the route, starting out from yesterday's finishing town of Almazan and finishing down in Zaragoza. Mass sprint again most likely.

GreenEDGE once again did a great job keeping the breakaway in track. With five kilometers left, the remainders of the group has just under a minute of advantage left. We therefore seize command to shut down that last bit.

Enrico Franzoi had other plans, and decided to mess things up even more for us by going solo inside the final five k. Normally this wouldn't cause much damage, but such great rouleur has to be marked.

As expected, it turned out to be a hard task bringing him back. With two kms left, we finally somewhat made contact with him however, with Boom doing an excellent job as Van Hummel's new leadout man.

Just as we caught Franzoi, Van Hummel took things into his own hands by launching an early jump. We saw this as the best possible way to perhaps surprise a very strong Sagan on the wheel.

Van Hummel kept momentum in a very convincing way, and only Sagan proved able to even challenge. Inside the last three hundred meters, the two are side by side, battling this out at the very limit.

Very close today, but Sagan triples up in stage wins. The others didn't have the capacity to come really close today, so Van Hummel strengthened his points jersey lead even more. Spanish champion Rojas took third after a strong sprint.

Some nice placements for 1t4i, Fuglsang is in the drivers seat and Van Hummel also doing good in the sprint, you cant beat Sagan you know Pfft
Good luck for the decisive stages, images and reports are excellent as always.

Harder terrain returns with this stage. Two climbs are on the route on this quite short day of racing. The second of those climbs will take the riders up towards the finish line in Aso de Sobremonte, with the final 3km at ~ 10%.

A breakaway including Bonnin is still ahead with around about two minutes while approaching the final climb with less than ten kms left. Still a pretty good chance for these riders although it will be hard to survive the climb.

As predicted, the gap was reduced quickly on the steep climb. Bonnin as last man of those in the group, got caught when Henao opened the day's action together with Cobo.

Fuglsang was just as cool as usual, steadily clawing his way back after the acceleration. Henao however, was once again brutally strong and pulled out a decent gap ahead of the final kilometer.

The red jersey easily overtook Cobo and Machado while entering the final kilometer, pursuing the white jersey in front.

Fuglsang did a wonderful job and almost pulled his way back to Henao, but a second kick from the Colombian was too much and he could celebrate victory with a small margin. The GC battle narrows down again.

Cobo and Machado stayed ahead of the rest too, but ended up losing over half a minute on Henao. Clearly the man in the KoM jersey hit top form too early and pays for that mistake now.

Marzano also struggled on this climb and clipped the line over a minute behind the day's winner. He still managed to distance the big favourite group in the end though and strengthens his Top 5 overall.
