Bloody impressive afirm.
This place could literally be anywhere in the world, and we pick pretty much the same spot

Today I had several hours on my hand and nothing much to do, so I expanded my horizon. Now I know the coast of every country north of Denmark.
I guess if you spend enough hours, and have a bit of luck, the you'll find the place eventually.
Thats what I call commitment... Wow!
Well I was closer than jandal. That says a lot No wait ut says nothing and it means I have some absolutely disgraceful geographic skills.

Well, I had no idea what I would chose. I was thinking about Canada, New Zealand, Austria/Switzerland and even somewhere in South America.
Although I doubted brewers would choose Canada again, I decided to go with British Columbia because I found some pictures that looked somewhat similar to the original photo.
Now why did you choose Canada?

Oh! Closer than I expected to be there!
That is some GG-determination afirm! A big contrast to my technique: which was to purely to go with North Norway after reading about the survival of Jan Baalsrud! |

afirm took a big step towards victory in the last round but with still 800 points available in the game he is by no means uncatchable. After getting away from the damp, freezing Faroe Islands, Brewer has found himself in a very different environment. But, the all important question is, where on Earth is he?
You have until 12 noon GMT on Tuesday (don't forget European clocks go forward an hour tonight, so filter that in if you're not in Europe). The only other thing I have to say is good luck!

Congrats to mighty afirm, I doubt any of us can beat him now, he's just too consistent.
I'm trying with a long shot now which can either pay off or send me right out of podium contention |

I have decided to stop participating in this game. It's not your fault, but mine, as my comment about searching stuff in Google wasn't okay.
I have to say that in the beginnings, I thought that game was about that... How else can we know where's a place? There are other quizs or games in which you know you shouldn't do certain things but, frankly, I didn't know what was forbidden here.
So I guess I should retire now I am not in the leadership and let other "cleaner participants" fight for the win, because you have shown I don't deserve it.

What you caused? I highly doubt you are the only one to use google, and I also highly doubt that's cheating as you said. Look, I do the same, possibly with worse results, but I do that. Everyone who managed to find the exact location in the Mumbai round probably did as well!

Just six answers in so far after being away for a whole day.
Marsu, what are you talking about? I've made these rounds so that it's impossible to cheat. Why pull out just because you're not in the lead any more? You can Google all you want, it won't help you here.

This one proved even harder than the last one, so hard in fact, that two people in the current top five couldn't even send in an answer. In fairness, the only clues were the very wide river and the fact that this place looked very warm. If you got this one right, you really were a wizard. So, is anyone studying at Hogwarts? Let's see your answers.
| matt17br | Eagle Pass, Texas, USA | | Bjartne | Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana | | jandal7 | Eagle Pass, Texas, USA | | lakebeach | Manaus, Brazil | | jseadog1 | Puerto Carreno, Colombia | | Marcovdw | Ayutthaya, Thailand | | PeterRyder | Benavente, Portugal | | AbhishekLFC | Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA | | The Rider | Brandvlei, South Africa | | afirm | Manaus, Brazil | | Selwink | Vernon, France |
With only 11 answers being submitted, this was the easiest round so far to score good points in. Oddly, matt17br and jandal7 were in the same town on the US-Mexico border, perhaps commencing the building of a wall for Mr Trump. lakebeach has now switched his attention to afirm, with both being in the capital of the Amazon, Manaus, although jseadog1 still wasn't too far away, in Colombia. AbhishekLFC was in coastal New England, maybe thinking this was the Atlantic Ocean, with PeterRyder on the other side of the Sea in Portugal. The Rider and Bjartne were both in Southern Africa looking for giraffes. So, where was it?
Come on guys, it was easy!
This was the Limpopo River in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. On the other side of the river is Mozambique, while Zimbabwe is directly behind you. It's like being a tour guide! So, with two people being in Africa, who was closest? And who limited their losses best?
| Bjartne | 917 | | The Rider | 1403 | | PeterRyder | 8003 | | Selwink | 8484 | | Marcovdw | 8579 | | afirm | 10012 | | lakebeach | 10012 | | jseadog1 | 11171 | | AbhishekLFC | 12601 | | jandal7 | 15161 | | matt17br | 15161 |
Even though The Rider was the only person in the correct country, he was on the wrong side of SA, so Bjartne takes the win being under 1000 kilometres away in neighbouring Botswana. That is a huge step towards catching afirm who, despite being over 10000km away, still gets joint 6th. PeterRyder gets his best result in 3rd (discounting the one where everybody won) despite being in Europe, just like Selwink in 4th. Marcovdw was near Bangkok in Thailand but still gets more points than those in the Americas. jandal7 maintains his incredible run of last place finishes, having finished last, albeit joint with matt17br this time, on all three occasions he's submitted an answer. He still gets 10 points though!
So, with two of the top five not submitting and third place taking 100 points, let's see what that means in the standings.
| # | Name | Rounds | Wins | Kms | Avg | Points | | 1 | afirm | 7 | 5 | 11724 | 1674.9 | 885 | | 2 | Bjartne | 7 | 5 | 3136 | 448 | 830 | | 3 | Marcovdw | 7 | 4 | 12178 | 1739.7 | 770 | | 4 | MARSUPILAMI | 6 | 4 | 17051 | 2841.8 | 729 | | 5 | Waghlon | 5 | 3 | 1451 | 290.2 | 670 | | 6 | matt17br | 7 | 2 | 51872 | 7410.3 | 514 | | 7 | lakebeach | 7 | 2 | 19258 | 2751.1 | 489 | | 8 | jseadog1 | 7 | 2 | 23768 | 3395.4 | 478 | | 9 | AbhishekLFC | 7 | 2 | 45525 | 6503.6 | 447 | | 10 | The Rider | 7 | 1 | 31112 | 4444.6 | 376 | | 11 | Selwink | 6 | 1 | 20924 | 3487.3 | 343 | | 12 | PeterRyder | 7 | 1 | 48069 | 6867 | 295 | | 13 | trekbmc | 2 | 1 | 195 | 97.5 | 107 | | 14 | Dippofix | 1 | 0 | 681 | 681 | 55 | | 15 | Luxemburger | 4 | 0 | 22636 | 5659 | 41 | | 16 | jihardy | 3 | 0 | 15965 | 5321.7 | 31 | | 17 | jandal7 | 2 | 0 | 33200 | 16600 | 16 |
afirm keeps the lead but the advantage is reduced to just 55 points now. Are we set for a Norwegian face-off? Not if Marcovdw has anything to say about it. The battle for 6th tightened up a lot with matt17br watching lakebeach and jseadog1 getting closer in his mirrors. The Rider moves back in to the top 10 at Selwink's expense, while jandal7's impressive average is higher than four of the top 5 have in total! matt17br is the first partcipant to hit the 50000km total distance mark.
Just three to go but still plenty to play for. A day's break for everyone before round 8 starts tomorrow afternoon.
