Ollfardh: I assume you are booing about Gilbert, well he technically not the world champion. However there are no national championships for the stage race, just a world xhamionship.
Dippofix: as I've already said, I could choose 21 teams and Ireland sucks after Martin and Roche. Lithuania is going for a zero point race
Martin, Roche, Deignan, Brammier, Bennet, McCann.
All those riders have decent stats in something. they arguably have a better lineup than say Kazahkstan, Sweden or Canada.
Valid point forgot about Deignan and Brammier, hey like in the NCAA basketball tournament there is always a few teams that should've gotten in.

The National Tour Stage 2 Preview Show

Today's stage is a bumpy ride across the heart of the island of Corsica. There are 3 category 3 climbs, the last one tops out 10 km to the finish. To go along with these, there is also a category 2 climb which immediately follows the second category 3 climb. The winner could be a break, a puncher, and maybe even a sprinter if the pace is low over the hills. Who will win?
The Favorites

Alejandro Valverde showed his speed in a reduced field yesterday, today's pack will be smaller so will he be the fastest?

Edvald Boasson Hagen is fast and is competent at climbing, but will the pace be too high for the Norwegian?
The Outsiders

Thomas Voeckler is the crowd favorite and he always wants to attack, but can he get away?

If Greipel and Kittel get dropped John Degankolb is third in line for Germany. He is most definitely fast enough for the win, but can he climb with the best?

Philippe Gilbert is the best puncher in the world, but lacks the fast finish of Valverde, so he needs a gap to win, can he get away?

National Tour Highlight Show Stage 2

There had been a flurry of attacks at the beginning of the stage, but none of them stuck, and at the sprint point there wasn’t a breakaway up the road and Andre Greipel picked up 20 points ahead of Matt Goss, Tyler Farrar, and Mark Cavendish.

Eventually a trio of riders got away they were: Nicki Sorenson of Denmark, Jonas Ljungblad of Sweden, and Alexey Lutensko of Kazakhstan. All three of them are over 6 minutes down in the GC.

At the first of three KOM sprints Sorenson held off a late charge by Lutensko to take 2 points toward the Polka-Dot Jersey.

At the second KOM climb which is the cat 2. Nicki Sorenson was first across the line and will wear Tomorrow’s Polka-Dot jersey.

Obviously Germany doesn’t think much of Greipel’s chances to make it over the climbs as Jens Voigt, who finished in the bunch yesterday, has left the peloton on the second category climb and is bridging the gap.

Meanwhile in the peloton there have been some crash victims and the first abandon, Ramanus Navardauskas of Lithuania has climbed off the bike with a broken collarbone, Chris Froome of GBR is also a crash victim along with Jeremy Roy of France.

With 25 km to go the breakaway still has 3 minutes! It looks like Jens Voigt could take over the GC Lead!

Four men are trying to get across to the breakaway at the 15 km to go mark. They are: Michael Kwiatkowski of Poland, Andy Schleck of Luxembourg, Robert Gesink, of the Netherlands, and the American Chris Horner.

Meanwhile the breakaway has splintered and Jens Voigt and Nicki Sorenson have left Lutensko and Ljungblad.

With 5 km to go Lutensko has rejoined the leading duo and they have 45 to Kwiatkowski and Ljungblad. Who have 15 seconds to a group of five including Schleck, Gesink, Horner, Henao, and Alejandro Valverde. The five men have 30 seconds to the peloton.

With 2 km to go Sorenson attacked his fellow escapees and there was no response. Is 20 seconds enough of a gap?

Yes it is! After a dreadful day one for Denmark, Nicki Sorenson takes the win for his country!

23 seconds behind Sorenson, Gilbert leads the bunch in for second place ahead of Voigt and Greipel, who retains his yellow jersey.

juszta: Well this is no surprise since they are clearly the best team on the flat.
Waghlon:
Ollfardh because 65 points is slightly better than 5 points
mvhoogdalem: its not good to be in company with Lithuania.
Selwink: It was a great ride
Cycleman123: He was okay, although it took him a long time to get back into the bunch
NTThRASH: It probably wouldn't be smart to try to kill a Texan, we are known for killing things
