The Henao attack is good news for Intxausti's hopes of salvaging some places he should already be in in the time trial. 7th now becomes a reasonable target, whereas prior to the stage that was 8th.

Also, annoying that my other timetrialists all survived this far, only to fall at the final hurdle before the last tt and end of the race.

Devolder's completely dead. As happy as I was at the beginning of this race, I'm now just as disappointed.

Too bad van der Hugenhaben lost his place in the top 20, but 15th for Van Huffel is really good

Keinath really faded towards the end of this Giro, but luckily he just managed to hold on to his Top 20. With a good performance in the TT he might just move up into 19th.

In terms of rankings. Ive done them for 14 of the stages so far. Ill do the rest after the race is over, so hopefully, theyll be ready to post ~6pm British time, so just a couple of hours after the final stage is posted

Id be pleased if I were you. Before the Giro 6th would have been a great result for Devolder, he overperformed early on and got you some good points, and now 6th is still a great position for him.

I'm upset that Cataldo fell out of the top 10 on the last mountain stage of the tour, but Top 15 was still my only wish, so I take pride in still being in 11th.

So on the last stage, I'm sure there are points rewarded, and therefore Luke Rowe loses the points jersey Sad

rjc: Still a great Giro for Luke Rowe though!

My own highlights from this Giro...

1) Stage 20 - that attack really made the stage tough. Of course it lead to a lot of riders being eliminated - but it was fun to watch everyone struggle. When Sella went and Cunego didn't respond I thought hello!

2) Cunego's fall on stage six - made the race unpredictable at least as far as to say it was only two riders that could win it. The Italian riders did end up taking positions 1,2,3,4 and 8 but the others made them work for it!

3) The last week's stages - just when writing stages was a bit of a drag I had stages 15, 17, 19 and 20 which were all action packed.

I'm really pleased with this Giro. Victory in the TTT. 4 days in pink, 2 for Christensen, 2 for my captain Keinath, who takes 20th in the GC after finishing 32nd last year. Expect him to challenge for Top 10 next season Smile

Also the team showed great visibility in breaks and Stenersen had a great 2nd place on one of the stages. My gut tells me I'm challenging for the Top 10 in the team rankings now after a great Ardennes Week aswell.

Great reporting aswell Smowz!

Agree, even though I don't have a team in the protour then I've followed the giro with great pleasure!

Two riders in top 25 and two days in the KoM jersey is a good Giro for us.

Good reporting, Smowz! Grin

Grrr... cant even time trial well anymore. 11 time trial stats better than Marzano, aswell as a better recovery and resistance .. that should have given at least 18 seconds on him Angry Absolutely pathetic race from Intxausti

Win the Vuelta? Id be surprised if he gets a Top 5

Bah Pozzovivo makes the TT of his life taking 4th. Too bad, cause Castaño absolutely did his... 5th is very good though!

I'm over the moon with this GC result, with Castaño 5th and Ardila 13th. I can't exactly say that I had seen that one coming, and going into the Giro my hopes was for one of them to do 9th or 10th and the other one to hopefully do 15th or so. So goal achieved... Too bad Sam Bewley got 2nd in Milano-San Remo, otherwise I would've had 2 out of 2...

After a slow start to the race, Damiano Cunego dominated the final week with multiple stage wins as he took not only the race win, but the points jersey. He top scores from the race with 1227 points - which is notable in that it is 200 points less than he took last year. Emanuele Sella pushed him all the way and so for the first time ever, 2 riders in a race have scored more than 1000 points. Vinceno Nibali completed the podium and is 3rd in points scored, but next is Henao Montoya, having benefited from young rider points. Castano performed the race of his life and was 5th best, while 3 stage wins and so nearly the Points Jersey puts Luke Rowe 6th. Fellow sprinter Mitch Docker also makes the Top 10, along with Pozzovivvo, Devolder and Intxausti.

Its no surprise that La Gazzetta and Lipton Ice Tea are therefore the Top 2 teams - but while La Gazzetta's 1671 is impressive, its nowhere near to their 2337 from last year. Festina continue to be right up there - despite their manager's constant belief theyre doing worse then they are - just ahead of the very strong Wiggle wildcard outfit.

Relegation battling Nespresso will be very pleased with 5th, ahead of the 6th-9th placed teams Domina, Philips, Lafarge and Energie who are separated by barely anything.

It's because my team is sucking everytime I trust them to do anything good Pfft

Also probably a bad thing to hope for Contador to do podium in the Tour, but I guess I have to trust his stats...

Over 500 points is really nice. Would have hoped for a better showing in the sprints, but they are always unpredictible.

What a great Giro. I'm really impressed with this first GT for Energie, and obviously with Pozzovivo's 4th place, which proved to be probably the best place he could get.

Also let me congratulate Smowz for his outstanding work. Just some misspellings during the race but all in all it was a great read.

I'm just a bit scared of what might happen in the future to Energie... 666... merci beaucoup for pointing that out fenian...
