As I was one of the guys trading their draft, I just wanna say that I never wanted to get Dillier.
He doesn't really fit my squad, but he was only my 4th draft pick. All the other guys that would have fit into my team better (f.e. Rovny and Martinez) werde drafted by others. And I thought I'd rather have a half-decent rider I can trade as 4th draft pick than a guy from Russia or China who is at AVG 65
EDIT: How much time is left for transfers?

Yes OZ, you have a point there about trading riders in general - in fact in cycling there isn't much of a transfer system as such. So anything we do is an abstraction.
As I say, I kinda wish I would have thought of it. That said quite happy to get two decent drafts anyhow!

Different strategies suit different teams. Get a high raft pick like Caja or CCC in round 1, target a high quality rider to boost the team. You can then go for a different type of rider in round 2 purely to sell. You get the squad boost and money, which to a team with such a small budget and not exactly strong riders is a big result.
For a stronger team like NetApp who will be pushing the promotion battle the situation will be different. For a relegating team like FDJ, ALM or LAM who only get one draft pick it's again different.
Bring in a rider via the draft purely to sell is fine. It's just like renewing a rider purely to sell them rather than let them go to FA.
Anyway... BRING US FA BUYING DAMMNiT

Uh, sold my best rider and lost my second best, I surely won't be pushing for promotion any time soon.

Exactly. I'd like to add that trading draft picks is totally common in sport leagues where there is an entry draft. It's exactly that what teams like Euskaltel have done with the only exception that they first had to use the pick themself before trading. They propably would have traded before if the transfer window would have been opened and if it would not have been too much work for Ollfardh.
If you call it gamey when the Lakers trade once again there draft picks for aging former superstar then it is gamey here, too, but i think it's totally legit and there is nothing against it...
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

"Do not post in this thread unless you are here to confirm a deal, use the other threads to discuss things or ask questions."

Free agents?
I'm very impatient to get season planning and can't really do that if my squad isn't finalised.
Pretty please?

The future my friend
Seriously though, I am attempting to transform the team into a sprinter's team, hence why most of Bardiani's traditional leaders have left. |
