So, I benched the top scorer in 2/4 races. Not a good start. In particular Brenner hurts, but also Bittner's 8th place in KBK would've been nice. Still 10-13-18 with Fretin, Mozzato and Wright, but waiting for the big points in the bigger races so far.
Drôme not great, but 9-10 with Barguil and Fortunato is OK-ish, plus a couple of points lost from benching Rota. Swapping Pidcock, Morgado and Tronchon for Bittner, Brenner and Rota would've been the right call, but in particular benching R1+2 doesn't sound as smart as it would've been in the end.
Instead, last-round pick Fortunato is the team's top scorer so far, says a lot about my cycling knowledge

The Italian Job
| BLOCK 2 | The Italian Job | | | 4/03/2025 | Le Samyn | CT1 | | 5/03/2025 | Trofeo Laigueglia | CT1 | | 8/03/2025 | Strade Bianchi | WT1 | | 9/03/2025 | GP Monseré | CT2 |
After the woes of the opening weekend, we already start the new block on tuesday with Le Samyn, the tradional opening race in Wallonia. After that, we move to Italy for the Trofeo Laigueglia and Strade Bianche, the biggest race in this block. Finaly it's back to Belgium for the GP Monséré.
The previous years, we noticed the startlists for the Italian races aren't always that reliable. Hopefully it will be better this year, otherwise you'r egoing to have to make some educated guesses. Either way, I will need your teams by tuesday 04/03 at 10h00 CET.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Laurens147 Hornets Block 2
POGACAR Tadej
BERCKMOES Jenno
GREGOIRE Roman
VAN ASBROECK Tom
KIELICH Timo
CAPIOT Amaury
DE SCHUYTENEER Steffen
RENARD Alexis
Good start in block 1 with scoring from Gregoire, Skjelmose and Pluimers in opening weekend. Block 2 is also nicely spread with Pogi, Gregoire and Berckmoes in Strade Bianche and the Belgian gang + Renard for Samyn and maybe Monsere.

Block 1 results
So, let's get it out of the way. Mistakes were made. No one really knows what's going on in that manager's head, not even me. The winner of Omloop was not selected, meaning 120 points going down the drain for the Mariners.
Furthermore, the numbers 4-7 of the race were not even drafted, despite some respectable names and Kubis also getting a top 10 in Kuurne the day after. Finaly Askey as 10th (and 16th in Kuurne) was also skipped by his manager. This made the WT race Omloop the lowest scoring race of the entire block!
Chaos in France as well, though not because of our managers but because of the finish in the Faun-Ardèche Classic. Gregoire made the most of it for the Hornets, while runner up Brenner was missed by Fearless.
On to Kuurne, where the Mariners won again (but not really again, now is it?) with Philipsen taking care of the sprint. Also a big miss here from Pacifiers who did not select Kooij. Some minor points disappearing left and right as well.
Finaly we go back to France where another podium was missed as no one drafted Ben Tulett this year. Ayuso won it for the Inspectors with Skjelmose finishing second after also picking up a few points the day before.
Onto the first rankings then!
| OHN | FAC | KBK | DRO | SP1 | | Mariners | 113 | 2 | 161 | 48 | 324 | | Hornets | 12 | 117 | 51 | 80 | 260 | | Inspectors | 0 | 14 | 70 | 114 | 198 | | Pacifiers | 100 | 46 | 4 | 0 | 150 | | Fearless | 0 | 64 | 29 | 29 | 122 | | Cobblers | 0 | 80 | 6 | 33 | 119 | | Spokes | 26 | 6 | 3 | 50 | 85 | | Racoons | 40 | 5 | 10 | 9 | 64 | | Comrades | 16 | 18 | 20 | 4 | 58 | | Bonkers | 18 | 0 | 0 | 26 | 44 | | L | 0 | 0 | 42 | 0 | 42 | | Turuls | 0 | 19 | 7 | 10 | 36 | | Ice Tulips | 16 | 0 | 15 | 0 | 31 | | GPTs | 12 | 0 | 10 | 0 | 22 |
I guess the Mariners never needed those 120 points! A strong Philipsen supported by Bagioli and van den Berg gives them the early lead. The Hornets are a good second, letting 6 of their 8 riders score points. The Inspectors are 3rd for now thanks to Ayuso and Hofstetter.
In 4th and 5th we have two teams who will have some regrets in their rider selection, as both the Pacifiers and and the Fearless missed out on some big points that could have seen them on the podium for now.
The Cobblers are 6th as the final team scoring over 100 points, mostly thanks to Champoussin. Next are the Spokes, who probably hope for more from their #1 draft pick Hirschi. The Racoons are next, the defending champions with not the best start so far.
In 8th place we have the Comrades, who really can' be happy with the performance of van Aert this weekend. Next are the Bonkers, who probably didn't expect Simmons to be their best scorer. The L are next, with only Milan scoring points for them.
The Turuls scored in 3 races, but unfortuately nothing big. The Ice Tulips were not informed about Eritrean paternity leave laws and also suffered this block. Last place still goes to the GPT's, who did not pass the Turing test.
And here are the rider rankings. Philipsen being the logical first leader, while Skjelmose was the best rider in France.

Pacifiers BLOCK 2
VAN DER POEL Mathieu
MAGNIER Paul
VAUQUELIN Kevin
JEANNIERE Emilien
BUSATTO Francesco
SCARONI Christian
LAPEIRA Paul
SKUJINS Tom
Had to bench some interesting names again, Pogi winning Strade means 20 points for Vermeersch, but I'm putting in the guys who can do their own thing and hope they can surprise me
Thanks for the update after R1, Ollfardh. Kooij's yes/no/yes to KBK really wasn't very thoughtful of him, so will have to make a phonecall and let him know. Lapeira's last minute absence in the two French classics was also not appreciated, but I don't have his number so he's off the hook for now.

I'm extending the deadline with two hours to 12u00, because of the forum being weird the last few days. Hopefully we can get the last two teams in that way.

Really sorry, but I can't accept it. These deadlines are very strict.
I also won't be extending deadlines anymore, as it got really awkward for me as suddenly Rex got a DNS. Luckily I didn't have any starter to replace him with, but it got really close to me suddenly favouring myself with an extended deadline.
