So close for a win with Aberasturi  Very happy! Groenewegen simply too strong even with messy lead-out!
What a showdown of strength by Schleck here. Will be interesting to see how Madrazo/pliuchkin will try to ruin his fun.

Poor. If Vysna is able to stay with Velits on a mountain stage like this, then it was a pathetic result. Hirt also a bad result and so we are losing our lead in team competition.
Great result for Vesuvio, Schleck is amazing.
In stage 6, Danacik did nicely there, nice try. But still too soon for a successful breakaway, it seems.

Cool stage. Nice to see the Finnish champion in the break once again and wonderful to get an agressive finish from Vastaranta. As a wildcard team that means more th a an anonymous top 10 even though I think his bold attempt deserved better than 13th.
Not often there is two active Finnish riders deep inside a PT final!

And then of course adding to that an amazing finish by Liepins taking 2nd place. Should be fun to get back next year.

What a thrilling finish. Not sure what Abal did in a sprint finish, but if his goal was to fool the sprinters, he basically was successful. 
What a season he is having, in especially this Vuelta.
Lovassy by this move irritated and with a stupid decision. Though as other sprinters also got blocked Groenewegen luckily found a way himself to take yet another stage win. No.9 for the team, his 4th in GTs this season. A pity after Vuelta only one classic for him as helper for Swift...but the double GT was a great decision for him and also opened Swift more opportunities in more races. |

Thank you for the report, Tamijo! Really like the loads of information you give to each screen, especially the depth you provide from the key battle for positions.
That was a very messy sprint. Holst Enger seemed to have the perfect position on Groenewegen's wheel, but then the confusion started, and suddenly he was stuck and boxed in, ending the stage with a miss instead of a top result. Groenewegen really proving himself in GTs this season, which is still cool to see Congratulations again, roturn!
Though, we can only try again. And seeing Liepins and Aberasturi in 2nd and 3rd with their stats, it definitely should be possible to be a consistent podiumer on these flat stages for Holst Enger. |

Who would have guessed before the season start Dylan Againewegen would be the most prolific PT sprinter. Brilliant victory, congrats roturn!

This season, I got used to see my riders constantly underperforming (Degenkolb, Tenorio), not performing at all (Izagirre) or suffering from injuries (Faiers, Merino Criado while being main domestics). However Faiers, riding as a leader, abandoning in stage 3 in GT is something new
It looks like I pay the price for lack of activity lately. Relegation is inevitable

Actually Swift still has more stage wins and on less race days so far.
The huge success of both somehow makes my 2018/19 planning a lot more difficult though. |

 [PTM] Vuelta a Espana - End of Week One
A spectacular race so far
READ STAGE 7 - before looking inside in the spoiler
Spoiler Day 1 start in Jerez de la Frontera
We have seen Porto – Prio dominate the TTT, with an exceptional 2nd sector time, obviously best with a bit of undulation. We have seen Dylan Groenewegen on the 2nd stage, with a superior sprinter win over Sondre Holst Enger, where also Hugo Houle had a very fine ride to get on the podium.
Day 3 Finish at Caminito del Rey
We saw Aleksandr Pluchkin on day 3, taking a clear victory on the semi-mountain stage, where Dombrowski and Pendleton's showed some nice aggression, but did not harvest from it. We saw Andy Schleck on day 4 crushing anyone with a 4km attack on the final climb, where also Yonathan Monsalve had a brilliant ride for 2nd to claim back to back podium.
Day 5 Finish on Collada de la Gallina
On day 5 we saw Joseph Dombrowski again opening the race, he surely have become a spectator favorite, but again Andy Schleck the best climber on the day, with a very dominant ride. Angel Madrazo also showing why he is amongst the pre-race favorite the last rider to follow Andy. A day where David Abal also had a great ride to claim the last podium, at jump to 6th in GC.
Day 7 start in Petrer
We saw Dylan Groenewegen on day 6, taking his 2nd stage this time a more close trilling victory in front of Emils Liepins and Jon Aberasturi, Finally today we saw the sprinter teams giving in to the breakaway on a more undulated route, Maurits Lammertink taking the stage win with a well-timed attack form 3.6 km.
Riders deserve a bit of rest – next post tomorrow morning

A bit of a meh-stage, I must admit, with the breakaway succeeding. But also very worrying to see both Guldhammer and Galta go down in the crash, followed by Teuns being forced to abandon. Also a pity for Moser and Roman to see Hirt leave the race.
eBuddy and Lammertink have been active regarding the breakaway attempts so far this race, so kind of deserved that they got the rewards here. Congratulations, alexkr00!
And I really hope both Guldhammer and Galta aren't injured. If they are, or if one of them are, it will hurt our chances in this race quite badly, I fear. Hopefully they will both be okay on the next stage, which luckily is another flat one, and also hoping Holst Enger gets another chance to sprint for a win there. |

Velits down, thankfully not losing any time and hopefully not injured. Vysna down, losing time, probably injured. Hirt down, out of the race. What a poor stage for my team!

Congrats alexkr.
Never expected a sprint win on this stage, so even when winning the bunch sprint, this is not a lost stage as 6th is totally fine with those hills and hence breakaway prone.
More concerned about the crash. Both my leaders were down but finished in the middle of the pack, so hopefully are just fine or just slightly injured.
Not ideal but hopefully it`s similar to the Giro, where Olivier also crashed 2-3 times but was on the lucky side afterwards. |

Novak and Jacobs injured and will probably not survive the race, Lecuisinier heavily underperforming and now crashing.
This have quickly become a very bad race.
