Our issue here is that Shelc is in the break; a GC contender if he gets this stage in his pocket. In earlier TDF tests, he always landed mid-20s, but there wasn't as difficult of a competition.

Why does the peloton not chase? 
There should be a reason for it. Just which one? 
Maybe that you put your guys on effort 99 instead of 70? (Probably not, but there has to be something...)
Shelc could indeed be a GC threat if he keeps this gap...

Found the reason for no chase; all of the riders in the BOTD are 14'31" behind Melazzo(Ferrari), who is only 10 or so minutes behind.
