I even had an argument about how much Spain sucks and the other one claimed they were superfavourites |

They always play with a 3 man defense?
Since years they are doing it, even at the last World Cup they played like that.
They don't always do it, they change depending on the team they face... against Australia they played with 4 (more like 2) at the back This game they removed Valdivia (played as a false 9 against the Aussies) and added another central defender. |

Casillas just doesn't have it anymore. And don't get me started on Xabi Alonso, just put Xavi on already. Today is the end of an era.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Spain is in such a condition because of the boring tiki-taka style and I believe it's quite a lot the manager's fault. He should have seen Bayern München vs Real before picking up the squad for the worlds(I believe it reflects the tactics in modern football the best)

I don't know much about the subject, but there's a post either IIRC by isso that talks pretty good about this subject. I just can't remember in what topic it is. |

Personally think they've got the wrong players on the field. I'd have liked to see a shake up, with someone like Isco on. Maybe have Busquets and Martinez play as DM.
I think Fabregas needed to play and I think Villa deserves a shot given his past performances for the national team. (Although bringing Negredo or Llorente would have helped too)
Del Bosque is probably too influenced to play the more senior players because they have been great in the past. I think a good portion of this is his fault for making the wrong selections.

Pedro shouldn't be on the pitch, he has done nothing. |

Spain is pretty desperate to bring in Torres. Yes I found the football board. |

Silva passed it to Torres who was clearly offside, otherwise he'd have a great chance.

Unless they are injured its really bad from Del Bosque not to bring Llorente and Navas... then they would have had a plan b... |

No one on Spain seems to know how to make a run or make a decisive pass. They just keep passing it around the box. They could really use younger versions of Torres and Villa right now. I think it was a mistake for them to not bring a tall targetman like Llorente though. They could just cross all day to him and eventually one would have to go in, opposed to what they are doing now...

European defending world champions don't seem to be able to survive the group phase when playing on a foreign continent. Germany 94 was the last one to make it to the kick-offs.
EDIT: Or the group phase in general it seems.

Love for Chile, and Bravo in particular, as he is on my World Cup team
