Finally I was able to download the Daily DB and start a career. As I was expect this for a long time I never started a career or played something in this game. So, I thought that, for start, I would pick Sky.
Found the new system of objectives realistic but a nightmare at times. I know this is somehow broken but I like to play as realistic as I can. So I want all the riders happy with their schedule. The trouble begins when the riders want to participate in races that aren't even on the list!! I was trying to make it like real life (have an excel worksheet with all the races of Sky) but I can't due to this. What do you guys do with this? You "don't care" with the satisfaction? Or may cause us problems?
Started a save with a little Portuguese team too and the game play is quite nice compared with PCM12. My leader (Arkaitz Duran) was 8th in Volta a Mallorca in the mountain stage, arriving at the finish line with the big ones (Nibali, Costa, Kreuziger, etc). I play on normal but I think this is quite a result! My favorite still is PCM11 but I see very good things in this match engine to kept us away from social life ahaha.
I don't care about the satisfaction, just give them races that they're happy with(default races are okay most of the time), and then just don't let them race them
Just click the fitness schedule bars for the planning, that's what I do

Hey guys, my contract with the sponsor runs out this year. When do other sponsors contact me? I'm currently in April with Team Raleigh in CT.
I think it starts in about July/August. Just be careful renewing your current sponsor. I probably will never do as we have no idea how much money we'll get. In my first season I renewed and got 51k a week. Then, got some offers (that I couldn't accept because I had already renewed) for over 80k. That's PCM for you. One, not knowing how much you are getting, two, receiving offers after you can't accept them (funny, I never got any offer before renewing).
You can leave the sponsor choice till almost the end of the season, but offers are only valid for a few days.
You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!
Well, I'm loving this DB already. Rojas has genuinely finished 4th three times and 5th once as his best results and Thomas just won Milan - San Remo somehow!
Anyway, I'm managing Madison Genesis (of course), with a few additions (), and I got my first win with a well timed late attack with Holohan in the Trofej Umag. Targeting the British races of course, so these early season races are just warmups.
Bibby got 3rd in Istria, S.Yates got 4th in Zssdi and Pullar won the KoM in New Zealand but pretty average apart from that. I need a sprinter for next season with Downing on the decline already. Fortunately for me, Swift, Blythe, Fenn and Rowe are all out of contract! Blythe is the one I most want but I'll have to see who is still available come July. Baylis, Downing and Townshend will be leaving and I want to get the squad up to 16 to launch a promotion charge next season. All British and Irish until I get to the WT, that's the plan anyway!
@brewers Wow, that combined with Ellisonde on the Angliru and Horner winning the GC, this must be the most realistic DB.
And for the Career, what about Sam Bennet for a sprinter? Good sprint, Handy over the hills and should have a fair amount of potential left. And you have Mullen to, haven't you? How good will he be maxed out?
Bennett, Mullen, English and Lavery all on my shortlist. All will be available at the end of the season (as is Roche, but I think that's out of the question!). I got lucky with the contracts, that's for sure. Jelfs needs some Irish support.
I just can't seem to win those damn hilly one day stages...
Even if i send my best squad with Nibali, Gasparotto, and Iglinskiy as the leaders and Fuglsang and Kessiakoff as support.
Milano - Sanremo (although it's said to be flat): 12th with Bozic (ended up being a sprint, the pack got everyone back in the final decent) Amstel gold race: Gilbert wins, Moreno 2nd, Valverde 3rd, 4th Nibali, 5th Gasparotto La Flèche Wallonne: Rodriguez wins, Moreno 2nd, Valverde 3rd, 4th with Nibali Liège - Bastogne - Liège: Rodriguez wins, Moreno 2nd, Gilbert 3rd, Nibali ends up 7th, Gasparotto 9th...
For some reason, the AI can sprint from 1,5km and keep sprinting till the finish... If i start sprinting at 1,5km my riders are dead at 1km.. I've tried to break away with Nibali on the final decent before the last explosive climb, but they won't let me go.. They just keep my wheel..
What the hell is that 84 skill on decent for then
I've also tried to shake them all of using the dot, but the climbs are not long enough for that.. They mostly come back in the decent.
How do you guys win those hilly stages? Or are my riders just not good enough? (79,78,77 HILL). I know Rodriguez has 81 hill, but not all of them are 80+...

I am quite good on hilly classics, i was Movistar and was getting Quintana with 77/hill top 3's just dot 99 with 2 kms to go that means you carry full speed before you sprint then sprint with 1.2/1.1 to go. Sprint earlier in AGR as its flat.
Whether you believe it or not. I won Amstel Gold race w/ Heinrich Haussler, when playing w/ IAM cycling and in hard settings.
Everyone esp. the favorites kept on attacking for the last 20k of the race, then I broke clear from them 5K from home using only 85-88 of effort then went full gas on the last hill. I guess they ran out of domestiques, too tired because of early attacks or didn't even bother to pull Haussler back, I bet they've thought they gonna pull him on the last hill but t'was too late. I also had Elmiger sticking w/ the favorites.

Let's try that once then.. I'm now in the Giro, so not many hilly classics, but there will be some left
I've tried using the dot, but i did it on 85 for like 10 km on every hill, but the hills are not long enough to really have an impact. The favorites attack, and when i've pulled them back the climb is over
Hmm, a team build around the Yates twins is a pretty good idea...
Both different speciality, but still able to help each other pretty good on the other guy's terrain.
Dammit, why doesn't Kelderman have a puncheur twin
Some highlights are:
- Valley of the Sun Stage Race stage win + KoM.
- Istrian Spring Trophy 3+7th GC
- Volta ao Alentejo 7th GC
- Circuit des Ardennes Stage win + 3rd GC.
I'm especially proud on the last one. Some big names where there, including Acevedo(74HI), Navarro(75HI), Malacarne(73HI).
And Ackermann is only 70HI, though 75ACC. A stage-win was a (overly tough) sponsor goal. So I sent Dillier(69HI, 2nd best puncheur of my team) in the breakaway of the tough hilly stage. The last 20km contained: 1 long hill, a descent, 1 small hill, 1 descent to the finish(except that the last 400m were uphill).
So I attacked with Ackermann on the long hill. He eventually catched up with the breakaway, there was just Jules(who attacked late) in front.
I paced hard with Dillier(dropped from the break to help) protecting Ackermann, and when Dillier burned out, I attacked with Ackermann. I reached Jules, dropped him on the small hill with another attack, and was then solo.
Peloton came closer, Acevedo attacked, came closer, came closer, but in the end, Ackermann won with 9 seconds difference
Italotreno lost time in the TTT after that, but well, sponsor goal achieved
We're in 51th on the CQ ranking now, but our team would be too small for PCT anyway, we're hoping for next year Edited by Jesleyh on 23-10-2013 18:53
