Not a great finish to the race, as we could have moved up to 7th I think if Quintana stayed in the front group. Solidifying a Top 10 tho is atleast nice, and keeps us consistent so far this year, with T-A being our worst result I think.

Great to win a race aswell as 3 stagewins and additional two 2nd places and the green jersey.
Too bad we couldn’t keep things together for Lecuisinier as he clearly is the strongest, but Bongiorno did a horrible race. Due to that we threw away team GC points and a 4th stagewin.
Overall this however was an almost perfect race! Thanks for the reports and congrats from you guys! Also a congrats to those with strong results!

Lame final stage, but to be honest, this at least secured a nice 2nd place for Morton (as still don't think that he could have attacked Lecuisinier). Obviously a fight for a stage win would have been nice, but I'm happy to see one of our most favorite former riders Dion Smith taking it. He's a fun rider to have!
While our team did not show any useful backup support for Morton this time (no rider inside the Top-50 ...) , our leader delivered a big GC result! This made for a fantastic triple-header (as we can just ignore Grand Duché - as always in the past three years or so).
Thanks for the great reports and special congrats to our mate SotD and Lecuisinier proving that he finally had the training to beat Morton easily

6 for 6 in terms of breakaway appearances, every rider finished the race and we even spent a day in the white jersey. I'm happy with the performances of my development squad
Congrats to SotD and the other stage winners
And thank you Ulrich for all the nice reports

Very very strong final stage for Evonik. Played it perfect tactically with Budenieks going after the KoM sprints to secure 2nd in that classification and Vosekalns aiming for the stage win.
Tvetcov and Chiarello lost a bit more time than i might have hoped but 15-20-22 is an awesome depth result - likely the best GC depth results in a mountainous GC ever for Evonik. Getting the teams classification on top is much appreciated too and not really - definitely a quality we have gained this offseason through the Chiarello and Tvetcov transfers.
Congrats to the other succesful teams - particularly SotD for dominating on home turf!
Thank you for great reports!

I was hugely surprised so see first Groenewegen and then 3 mediocre climbers chasing without the break really being caught and neither having a top5 GC rider here.
I expected an attack by Olivier for the stage win but it never happened and instead other riders attacked and weren`t immediately followed...
In the end though the higher pace might have led to a few more gaps than usual with riders such as Hirt, Berhane, Keizer, Quintana, Amador all struggling. In especially some that attacked a high pace peloton. .
This way Olivier stayed with the very best around Lecuisinier, Morton, Alarcon, Dombrowski, which is great to see. His stat advantage in resistance over most and reccovery ofer the likes of Amador, Berhane, Schelling worked well on that last stage.
Going up to 7th is a nice surprise but showed great team work on that final stage and only beaten by clearly stronger riders and then being best of the rest of very similar outsider favourites. Such results are needed to create a gap to the relegation area, in especially as on mountain stages no big stage results can be expected to score points.
Velits in 44th only might be 10-20 spots to far behind really, but this is okay I guess, just hope he can do better when being leader without Olivier.
Groenewegen can clearly do a bit better than here. Coquard double stage win is fair. He is easily the best and finally delivered, Groenewegen though was twice not ideally placed and on a struggling train with 1km to go for a better result.
Congrats SotD, expected win by Lecuisinier but always nice to see it being delivered as well then alongside Coquard`s wins. Obviously the mountain stages could have been won as well for more points, but already a nice scoring nevertheless.
Also Bennelong with a great double stage race here with Morton 2nd and Bobridge in TA while Volvo must be happy to get a good result from Alarcon, not sure he can deliver a lot in GTs, but he is still a nice rider to have for 1-week races.
Dombrowski, Hirt, Galta likely the three biggest underperformers here, which in especially for cycleYorkshire shouldn`t happen too many times in the relegation fight. |

Thanks mate. Indeed a few more points COULD have been gained, but with 1 stagewin and two 2nd places by Lecuisinier I can't demand anything more to be fair, although a stagewin on the final stage would have put me just above 1000 points total from the tripple-header.
Still 970 points (I think it was) from the trippleheader is very very nice, and likely the highest of any. With a decent/good Pro Hallstatt there is even a good chance we will be leading the PT after february (Milano San Remo will probably not be good for us).

Thanks a lot. Also congrats on 2nd place after winning Tirreno. Surely a good output for you aswell! "Easily" I don't know. Lecuisinier overperformed on a hilly finish and then used the TT's to take advantage. He still doesn't seem very superior in the mountains unfortunately - but it is nice to finally beat him
Thanks - Also congrats to you for being very visable in a difficult stage race

Thanks mate - Indeed it's nice to dominate every now and again. Very important show by your setup too btw. This easily shows that your team can now perform high pointscorings everywhere, which imo is the difference between your usual results and this season where you'll win the ranking!
I hope I can atleast tease you a bit in the early months before you move away from us during the cobbles

And the miracle didn't happen. Very poor performance from Dombrowski.
Thanks for the reports.

Too bad Stavrakakis didn't make one of those breaks, but I guess he still has plenty of time on his hands

I wish i was as confident about the title chances as you. I see chances to win but i also see 4 or 5 other teams that could win the title if they e.g. have a surprisingly dominant GT or just generally higher consistency than expected. So these kind of performances are necessary to keep the points score ticking and as you said its sth i didnt use to have. Im very glad about this race, it surpassed my expectations by a lot and covers the underperformance of Skujins in Tirreno
Spoiler And im sure that you will get whichever points you lose on us on the cobbles in whichever GT Lecuisinier rides

Hoped we could get something out of the stage when Iturria and Gillett got up the road, but it wasn't to be. A quiet race for us all in all, but at least good to see us being quite active in the breaks throughout the race.
Congrats to SotD on the win! Dominant from Lecuisinier.

Pretty happy with how Vasyliv bounced back from his earlier breakaway attempt!
Obviously there even was a stage win in it once he hit the flamme rouge in second position, but at least this time he got beaten by (slightly) better climbers.
If we want to be in the mix for the overall podium, we need to find ways to win on days like these at some point in the season though.
Still, we end the triple header here on our highest note.
Overall, considering we had our second and third string riders present, I can't be too unhappy.
Stage results of 3rd, 4th and 5th along with 4th and 7th in the KoM, plus the good prologue by Ganna and the points he gained through that and his break mean we return with above average points from daily results.
While Vasyliv's break saw him rise modestly in the GC to 31st, there definitely was more in it for him and Stüssi if they had been attentive mid-race.
The question is whether Vasyliv would've attacked on two stages if he hadn't lost time before, so I guess it balances itself out over the course of the race in terms of scoring.
Stüssi was disappointing as a backup option though, barely making the Top 50 with no mention besides him dropping, I'm expecting some magic from him in a few races this season.
Egger and Bevin follow in the Top 60, which sadly doesn't add any points, but I'm happy with their races.
Particularly Egger returning to the team after nearly a decade has already shown why it was worth spending money on him in these spring races. I'm glad he's proving my instincts and longing for a throwback reunion right so far.
Doubey, Weinstein and Oka did domestique duties, and finally Filippo Ganna once again showed further glimpses of his immense talent that will start to carry Puma in a few years.
Of course I end with a big thank you to Ulrich for a top reporting job that left nothing to desire on my end, and again congrats to SotD, who sadly made a good decision this transfer season. Let's hope we don't clash along the way too often.

Big win and an absolutely brilliant race for Festina. Congratulations, SotD!
Galta and the team not able to turn it around on the final stage was kind of expected seeing how the race went up to that point, but that doesn't mean I hide my disappointment. Genuinly puzzled by that performance from Galta. Had it been one disastrous stage, it would be easier to accept, but several stages in a row with perfomances way below expectations is troubling. |

Solid event from Gesink, always up there showing himself where he needed to. Nothing too flashy but representing our colours well.
Massive race from PHL, congrats SotD. Brilliant reports as well, Ulrich thanks for that!

Thanks for the thankis.
Congrats to SotD, Bongiorno didn't do much but not sure Lecuisinier needed him, there wasn't a single time in the entire race where he looked remotely in trouble. Could have pushed the pace on the last stage and caught the break but given he didn't need the time I can see why they wouldn't do that.
Mainly sympathy to Ember, I am not sure what happened with Galta, can you have bave bad race form? I don't know if the AI had one too many mountain leaders to handle and he drew the short straw. I felt I was picking on him by covering his struggles but at the same time it seemed notable how much weaker he was than a bunch of pretty similar climbers.

I don't think you were picking on him at all, Ulrich! Quite the contrary, I appreciated the updates, as it made it easier to follow when he was gone and out of contention. Just unfortunate it happened on every stage and not on a single stage |

This P-N was all about depth scoring for us. We don't have a single rider in the top 25, but we have 5 in top 50. Also 3d and 6th in Mountain, 8th in points, 3d and 4th in Youth plus some nice stage performances; it all adds up.
Still many teams massively outscoring us here obviously.
Congrats on the Lecuisinier home win, SotD
