I really wish there was some points available for this! This is Jen's best race of the season so far and good to see him rubbing shoulders with the PT's best.
A day in the break would be nice some time soon, but no big time lost for Pinot so far (despite the crash)

Very disappointing stage. Gesink virtually invisible and Brambilla out of the top 20 race due to a crash

Where is the Scarponi that fought for a Giro top 20? Not in the top 80... Dzhus who was strong in the Dauphine? Not in the top 130, even behind Vanderbiest... Come on PCM, you can be slightly more kind to me than that...

I would have expected a louder reaction, cio
No chance to defend the polka dot with Lutsenko allowed to go early. Time for Haig's terrain soon. Still hoping for regular breakaway attempts though.

Fun stuff early on on that stage! In the end, no time lost for Guldhammer, which is good, but I would definitely have liked to see a little more action, and a try to put time into most other GC riders.
And congratulations, cio93! And in all of a sudden, this now looks like a brilliant race for Demare. At least so far! |

For once, i'm quite happy about Van Stayen finishing 2nd behind Demare because i feared a breakaway victory. While this is another setback in the fight for Green and I'm not particularly happy about ever losing to Demare that are some points that i wasnt sure i could get and after the awful start i take everything i can get. 21 points behind Demare in green - the fight is far from over and I'm hopeful that this might lead to further action on later stages
Koch down to 83rd in GC. Had i too high expectation or is he just preparing for the Pereiro super-ride?
Or maybe Van Stayen is the one to get our sponsor goal done?

Aw man, that really sucks. Kirsch was my man for all three GTs, and ultimately, aiming at the record for consecutive GT finishes.
All ruined because of damn crashes.

Good ride from Borges. He had a very reasonable position at the start of the sprint, I thought he had a chance, but a 5th place is definitely interesting.
Demare is ending this first week very well. Congrats cio.
Crazy stage loved the report, thanks Aquarius!

Thank you viking, tsmoha, ember, Croatia, Gustav and even knockout
And tsmoha, my neighbors got the initial loud reaction
I thought after all my moaning and despair over bad luck, I felt like some understatement was in order for a change.
I'm certainly extremely thrilled with Demare's first week, although I was worried looking at the initial positioning today. I'm glad the AI fixed it in time.
1-2-2-5-5 on the stages he was in the peloton, and at least five stages in green (six if Phinney, Taaramae or Spilak don't sweep both of the next stages).
He's certainly making big gains in that statistic, that I have to thank Aquarius for compiling. If I'm correct, he's already up to tied 5th best active rider on his first real attempt?
Stages 8 and 9 already look decisive for the KoM jersey with those HC climbs, so I hope we give our best trying to get into a break with a strong climber. Whoever's looking good in that classification after them will get priority treatment.

Some more nothing... Despite it beeing ridden crazy hard nothing came from it.
Also, I found the stage difficult to read. As mostly, I read it on my mobile, but there was no km left remarks untill the final 10km.
I quickly gave up on the KOM spots, as I had to either scroll up and Down or memorize the stage.
Otherwise a great report. Both in terms of quality and pace.
Let's hope that Spilak can finally start doing something now, as we are yet to break 100 points. I expected 2-300 from the first week.

Terrible stuff for Wiesenhof Really hope he will recover already in the next stage! Also sad to see Lowe doing down with Taaramäe and clearly being injured as well. No backup results behind Haig then..
..as for the latter, 10th in the GC is obviously fine so far. Not too happy with Lutsenko being a breakaway rider here though. Still ahead in the U25 rankings with the first mountain stage ain't ideal. But the main contender should be Yates anyway.

Terribly for Wiesenhof...as always hope he can recover fast.
Wellens doing fine, aswell as Cort Nielsen. Lövkvist struggled a bit in that stage but still Top 30 GC.
SotD should be happy about this stage for once. |

Top 60 GC!!!
But really, my climbers are aweful this race. Scarponi did well recovering from his crash, but Dzhus and Topchanyuk are just terrible.

Heartbreaking for Heine.
As for my team, too bad Gesink couldn't keep up with Spilak and Phinney there. It really feels like there should have been any time loses in a stage like this especially since the GC seems to be wide open now.

Really tough going for Wiesenhof. A stellar season for Taaramae who was to dominate this race, now has everything on the line again. Hope the estonian can recover a reasonable place in the top10/5, but with already the next stage being decisive, things look grim.
Spilak needs to be more aggressive now, otherwise he'll end up being the runner-up to Phinney. Congratulations jt!
Nice to see Borges on the offensive again even if nothing comes out of it. I'd like to see the climbers take a hold of this race for a change. This isn't Vuelta al Pais Vasco
