i could add :create international relationship between countries
an international contest will never be held in a country that has troubles or create troubles(no wonder that putin waited winter olympics to end and then make an action about ukraine)
fifa is just football at your level of fans but fifa isn't just football at higher level
isn't just an sport,it's number 1 sport at international level.has a different impact
i bet that in russia for a long time they won't held no big contest

I have never heard something so ridiculous in my life!
Excluding Russia would not happen. You can't ban a Sports team because of the action of Putin.
If Fifa done that there wouldn't be any teams left playing.
Besides much rather have countries that are actually going to do something at a tournament than those who just turn up to make up numbers

Why do you think they promote peace. What makes you think that? The UN is for peace, the FIFA is for football.
i could add :create international relationship between countries
an international contest will never be held in a country that has troubles or create troubles
Then why does Russia still have the right to organise the WC2018?
(no wonder that putin waited winter olympics to end and then make an action about ukraine)
The protests in Ukraine started áfter the Olympics, which is why Putin didn't interrupt earlier.
fifa is just football at your level of fans but fifa isn't just football at higher level

The idea of the FIFA is to organise football and promote the sport.
i bet that in russia for a long time they won't held no big contest
4 years and 3 months isn't that long I believe, as Alak already said.
we will see if they will held wc in russia
when was that vote, russian army didn't violate air space of ukraine
The FIFA really doesn't give a sh*t about that. It's all about money (oh, and a bit football) for them.

Hosting is a entirely different matter to playing in the tournament.
As long as Russia doesn't wage war then I don't see a problem with them hosting it.

Germany having a test kick against Poland today.
Stupid DFB to organize a friendly match this week with the German Cup final being this weekend.
So no Bayern and Dortmund players. No international league players such as Khedira, Özil, Podolski, Mertesacker, Klose.
So the starting roster is very young, very talented but also 8/11 without any National game yet.
Zieler - Sorg, Ginter, Mustafi, Rüdiger - Rudy, Kramer - Draxler, Meyer, Goretzka - Volland.
All players you probably don`t really know except for Draxler and Zieler eventually. |

There is only the 30 player pre selection.
Volland most probably will participate due to Klose being the only other forward with Gomez not nominated.
Draxler and Goretzka most likely will make it I guess. That said their position is the strongest with Özil, Podolski, Reus, Schürrle, Müller, Kroos, Götze.
Ginter is very talented and will probably play for Dortmund next season. I guess it`s between him and Mustafi for the Worlds with him being in a better position.
Rüdiger not nominated and probably will have his only appareance today as he just is not good enough to be honest. Actually even without all the "stars" not being able to play today, I was hugely surprised to see him nominated as there are lots of better defenders. |

Dutch selection
Goalies: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Tim Krul (Newcastle United), Jeroen Zoet (PSV), Michel Vorm (Swansea City)
Defenders: Patrick van Aanholt (Vitesse), Daley Blind (Ajax), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Karim Rekik (PSV), Joël Veltman (Ajax), Paul Verhaegh (FC Augsburg), Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa), Stefan de Vrij (Feyenoord)
Midfielders: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Leroy Fer (Norwich City), Jonathan de Guzman (Swansea City), Nigel de Jong (AC Milan), Quincy Promes (FC Twente), Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray), Tonny Vilhena (Feyenoord), Rafael van der Vaart (HSV), Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV)
Attackers: Jean-Paul Boëtius (Feyenoord), Memphis Depay (PSV), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04), Dirk Kuyt (Fenerbahçe), Jeremain Lens (Dinamo Kiev), Robin van Persie (Manchester United) en Arjen Robben (Bayern München).
Quite some surprises. No Van der Wiel
Lots and lots of Feyenoorders(7!!!). Suppose Boëtius and Vilhena will be out. These are 30 players, 7 of these won't make the WC(no, I do not mean all the Feyenoord players )

Portugal Pre-Selection
GK: Anthony Lopes (Lyon), Beto (Sevilha), Eduardo (Sp. Braga) e Rui PatrÃcio (Sporting)
DEF: André Almeida (Benfica), Antunes (Málaga), Bruno Alves (Fenerbahçe), Fábio Coentrão (Real Madrid), João Pereira (Valência), Neto (Zenit), Pepe (Real Madrid), Ricardo Costa (Valência) e Rolando (Inter)
MID: André Gomes (Benfica), João Mário (V. Setúbal), João Moutinho (Monaco), Miguel Veloso (D. Kiev), Raul Meireles (Fenerbahçe), Rúben Amorim (Benfica) e William Carvalho (Sporting).
ATT: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Éder (Sp. Braga), Hélder Postiga (Lazio), Hugo Almeida (Besiktas), Ivan Cavaleiro (Benfica), Nani (Manchester United), Rafa (Sp. Braga), Ricardo Quaresma (FC Porto), Varela (FC Porto) e Vieirinha (Wolfsburg).
I was a supporter of Paulo Bento but after this selection i'm really mad. Adrien did a great season (Midfielder 28 games, 8 goals on League) in Sporting and is out of the 30 list. But João Mário who was from Sporting B team the first half of the season and the second half on Setubal on loan is called. And Benfica players Rúben Amorim (17 games), André Almeida (10 games), Ivan Cavaleiro (8 games) and André Gomes (7 games) are all in the list. Seems every portuguese that is on Benfica squad is always called.
Also the young promising winger from Sporting Carlos Mané (18 games, 2 goals) was not called neither the Zenith star Danny. Postiga scored 3 goals in Valencia and 0 in Lazio and it's called.
Hard to understand the criteria. |

You have Ronaldo, who cares about the rest, just give him the ball.

Kimi, I think you place too much importance on stats. A midfielder who scores 1 goal in 200 games may very well be better than a midfielder with 15 goals in 20 games. Goals and assists of course do matter, but it's what a player can do on and off the ball, on and off the field in each match which matters. Creating chances, while not necessarily getting assists, is in my opinion the most important role in football.
From the suggested changes you make, here:
1. Adrien I think is a better player than Mario, but that being said, Adrien wouldn't have much of an impact on the field and Bento may just be looking to give Mario some experience.
2. I think that Amorim is class. While he may be past his prime I still think he's a great player. Not an expert on the others so I won't comment.
3. I think Danny should be in there, but Mane hasn't shown me anything really to be impressed with. Postiga is in my opinion Portugal's best striker, besides maybe Almeida right now.
