I already copied from idea from the PCM08 forum to PCM09, and now it's time for another one, invented by Smoothie:

Here is a thread for the people who dont want to make a story but want to describe what is going on with there Career at the moment. Ask advice, as "Who do you think i should buy?" "Who should i pick for the world championships" Generally describe what is going on with your career. Have you found a great new scouted rider...

... and go! Wink

Ive just started a career with the Euskatel Euskadi team. I have just finished the Tour down under. I didn't win any stages which is dissapointing but i got 9th place with Gorka Verdugo. Net it's the Challenge a Mallorca.

Got a career going with a custom team - Its a UK, Eire and Commonwealth team called........ predictably.......Team Sky GB!

Anyway, team leaders are:

Brad Wiggins (GB)
David Millar (GB)
Nicholas Roche (Ire)

Main helpers are:

Charlie Wegelius (GB)
Dan Martin (Ire)
Svein Tuft (Can)
Chris Froome (GB)
John-Lee Augustyn (SA)

Also in the squad are:

Jonathan Bellis (GB)
Ben Swift (GB)
Cameron Evans (Can)
Christian Meier (Can)
Cameron Meyer (Aus)

Plus a few others to make up the numbers!

Main Goals for the season are Winning the Tour De Suisse and Top 10 in the Tour of Britain (the first one might be pushing it!) Already successfully completed 2 goals - Top 5 in the Tour of the Algarve and Top 5 in the US Open of Cycling! My other goals are Top 10 in the Trofeo Melinda (or something like that) and Top 5 in the Tour of Portugal.

Have received a wild card for the TdF so hopefully Brad will do well in that, my Tour de Suisse and TdF team will be:

Wiggins
Millar
Roche
Wegelius
Tuft
Augustyn
Martin
Meier
and Evans (for the TdF)

pretty good squad all in all, and Wiggo, Millar and Tuft should help us get a decent time in the TTT. The big surprise for the Tour was that Cervelo were NOT given a wild card, so no Sastre, Hushovd or Haussler!!! Shock

I think that I will use the thread to ask for advice.
Im looking for a top classics rider to sign at the end of the 1st season for my custom team. I already have Pozzato, so if you think that i should sign someone else, please say so.
My options for a cobblestone cyclist are:

Devolder
Van Avermaet
Masskant
Hushovd
Nuyens
Langeveld
Burghardt

What do you think?

alexkr00
Langeveld or Van Avermaet, they are both young and with potential. Langeveld is also good on hills, while Van Avermaet is a good sprinter.

For my teams I tend not to have too many cobble specialists, as the cobble season is so short compared to the rest of the year, so I would go for a rider who will perform multiple functions e.g. Hushovd would be an excellent main sprinter for the big tours.

My career so far has lead me to the middle of Paris-Nice, where I suddenly stopped, paused for a moment, and decided to give up career mode until the daily db is released.

I've also struggled with overfamiliarity due to playing PCM08 too much, 'cos '09 ain't much different.

Supaplex
I currently have a German-Belgian team sponsored by leading manufacturer of air and pressure systems for cleaning Kärcher. February 2010 currently.

Team started out with a strong German core, with a couple of great young Belgians and 3 Dutch. Bunch of young riders from Belgium as I'm a Belgian coach, some had potential.

Leaders :
Van den Broeck
Van Avermaet
Gerdemann

Other riders (not generated by the game) :
Seeldraeyers, Boom, Reus, Posthuma, Lang, Knees, M. Fothen, Vedel Kvist, De Ketele and Geschke.

I focused on dominating continental stage races which wasn't difficult with the riders at my command. Gerdemann, Van den Broeck, Fothen and Posthuma all had the ability to win these races. Van Avermaet became the king of victories, he was mainly helped in sprints by Boom and Geschke. Didn't do any northern classics with cobbles but did attempt something in Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallone and Liège-Bastogne-Liège but without much succes. The goals were quite easy, mostly small German races where my strong German block delivered. I joined two other CTT races : Paris-Nice and Vuelta a Pais Vasco. Got nice results in both especially Paris-Nice which Van den Broeck was able to win even without a stage win (top 10 was a sponsor goal). No grand tours were joined because they interfered with some goals and they would put too much of a strain on my relatively small team (20 riders).

Now my team has been promoted to the CYA Top Tour so the sponsors are expecting a bit more ofcourse but they gave me a very nice wage budget which allowed me to sign a couple of nice riders who suprisingly immediately accepted my offers.

- Haussler will be leader for the cobbles classics, I got him some assistance too in the form of Veelers and Spilak
- Kirchen will try to win one of the hilly classics and then probably do the Tour de France
- Gesink will be the leader in the Vuelta

In addition I got Clement and Velits as two extra helpers, and two very promising youngsters that my scouts discovered : one is a Russian sprint wonder and the other will be the German version of Flecha.
So I now have 9 German, 7 Belgian, 6 Dutch, 1 Luxembourg and 3 Eastern Europe cyclists... Quite nicely kept myself to only a few nationalities imo ^^

Gibo Simoni is retiring after this season so who i need to sign as a team leader for giro and other big italian stage races for next season. (Remeber i will not sign any new talents like Gesink,Nibali or Kreuziger. Im wanna manage team like in real life). Right now im thinking to sign E.Mazzoleni. (I have created him Cool )
Maybe you can give me some another rider.

cio93
Wait...Simoni...Mazzoleni...what about di Luca? Grin

Seriously, Pellizotti?

Christer
I'm playing with a custom team.

I only use scouted riders there, except one. Won the Giro the previous season with a scouted rider. (80 MO and REC). I'm in 2015 at the moment.

I_Mayo
Di Luca is banned right now man.(im managing like in real life)
Mazzoleni's ban is ending in 2009.
Pellizotti, hmm..... i think he wont want come being at his best years know to continental team.
Im thinking to sign 4 riders for 2010 season: Mazzoleni, Tiralongo, Mazzanti & Ghisalberti.

Wiggins won the Tour de Suisse Smile A lot of the other favourites were just increasing their fitness levels ready for the Tour (and most of the big faves rode the Dauphine) so it wasn't that hard! (Obviously Wiggo had a race fitness of 98!)

Now riding the Tour, and its funny how real PCM can be......

Stage 3 of the rl TdF - peloton splits due to cross winds and the hard riding of Team Columbia, and most of the favourites lose 40 seconds on the front group.

PCM TdF Stage 3 - Wiggins and Millar find themselves at the front after the peloton splits due to high winds and the hard riding of Team Columbia. Then just as the peloton are getting back on terms, a crash happens which takes out Basso and Armstrong (who then retires with a fractured knee! Shock), and slows the peloton! Wiggins and Millar gain 1' 46" on mosat of the favourites, and Wiggo moves up to 2nd place overall Cool

Stage 4 - TTT - Sky GB win the Time Trial, and Wiggins takes the Yellow jersey! Banana The combined efforts of Wiggins, Millar and Tuft, assisted by the retirement of Armstrong weakening the Astana team, gave us the win! Smile

Unfortunately, Contador has just attacked on the Arcalis climb, and regained a load of time. Contador now leads the race, and Wiggins is down to 3rd.

I'm playing a career with Columbia and I'm doing pretty good right now, I've won the Giro d'Italia and the Dauphiné with Lokvist, I were lucky in Dauphiné because Contador was the leader and I were 3 minutes behind but he crashed in one mountain stage and arrived to the finish 12 minutes behind Lokvist. The Giro was very hard because Di Luca won like 10 stages, but Lokvist was always only 4-5 minutes behind so I could regain some time in the TTs, Blockhaus and Vesubio.

Now the TdF is gonna begin and I'm sending Rogers there to see if he can finish in the top 10 and Cavendish, who should win some stages.

Also I've signed Maaskant because Burghardt hasn't been very good in the cobble races and I've found two future champions, so I'm happy with my career right now.

After several false starts, I've got what looks like a keeper career going with a custom team (Gateway Racing). It's a US/Australian based team.

The limitation I'm putting on myself is to only sign riders from English speaking countries. So that limits me to: USA, Australia, Britain, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Canada.

The team:

Leaders:

Tyler Farrar
Nicholas Roche
Michael Rogers

Others:
John-Lee Augustyn
Mark Renshaw
Chris Froome
Dan Martin
Philip Deignan(sp)
Jonathon Bellis
Christian Meier
Ben Swift
Taylor Phinney

Also have a few Aussie/US free agents (Day, Devine, J. Clarke, Zajicek and a couple others).

Tour of California, Tour of Missouri and US Open are the main sponsor's goals for the year. Rogers will be the man for both California and Missouri.

I'm still in the Tour Down under (two stages to go) and things are already starting out well. Renshaw has a couple of top 5 finishes in the sprints, and Rogers managed to pull a Cancellera-like move with a late attack on the slight hill at the end of stage 2 and hold on for a win. Rogers also won the Aussie TT jersey (placed 4th in the RR, O'Grady winning).

Long term (after several seasons), I'm hoping to build a stage race based team (ignoring cobbles for the most part). I got pretty lucky with the young riders signed at the creation of the team. 3-4 of them have enough stars on the training screen that I have hope they'll turn into good riders.

Playing as Agritubel. Had a pretty solid '09 campaign which was capped off by Brice Feillu's two mountain stage victories in the Tour de France (Stage 16 and 20). The end of the season came down to three teams looking for one spot to get promoted. ISD, Rabobank CT, and myself. Christophe Moreau came through in the clutch and got promoted.

About to start the '10 season. Brought in some good young riders and kept most of my team entact. Christophe Riblon and John Gadret are the main additions to bring some more depth in the mountains and take over leadership for the most part from Christophe Moreau.

Here's the top dogs:
- Sylvain Calzati
- Brice Feillu
- Remi Cusin
- John Gadret
- Christophe Riblon
- Dimitri Le Flouch (Signed from Auber 93...promising young climber).

Top it all off with the transfer to bring in Jimmy Casper to join Romain Feillu and Steven Caethoven as the main sprinters.

About to start the Tour Down Under. Main goals this season are a stage win in the Giro, top 3 in Paris-Nice, top 10 in Paris-Roubaix for the vastly improved Kevyn Ista, a stage win in the Dauphine, win in Dunkirk, and a top 10 in the Tour de France.

Hoping to build a big time stage race squad over time. This years main transfer goal is to lure Christophe Le Mevel and Sandy Casar from FDJ. Will be content with at least one, and unfortunately let go of Moreau's large and depreciative contract.

I guess most of you put your buidget at 100%
you should try to start at 20%
you can't even afford a single leader

prevent hangovers --> stay drunk
pozzato, basically the most stupid cyclist around

RIP WW. Gone but not forgotten

Kami
Puttin it at 100% is boring and unrealistic i just pick normal.
