Giro del Trentino Preview

The Giro del Trentino presents the favour to climbers who have a good TTT team in support! The best climbers of the CT and some from the PCT will try to tackle this uniques race to see who comes out on top.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites for this season's race:
| Team Name | Top 4 TTT | | Euskadi-Murias | 76.75 | | Kraftwerk Man Machine | 76.5 | | SEE Turtles | 76.25 | | Parmalat - Ecopetrol | 75 | | Glanbia | 74.75 | | Euskotren - Pays Basque | 74.5 | | McCormick Pro Cycling | 73.5 | | IncaLine Pro Cycling | 72 | | Ethiopian Airlines | 71.25 | | Peugeot - Bancolombia | 70.5 | | JEWA TIROL | 68.75 | | Team Zappes Kölsch | 67.5 | | Kone-Nordea | 67.25 | | Podium Ambition | 67 | | THE ONE - Fox God | 65.5 | | Tafjord Kraft | 60 |
Euskadi, Kraftwerk and SEE Turtle are expected to be the teams to fight it out for the win on Stage 1. Not far behind are Parmalat, Glanbia and Euskotren.
| Last name | First name | MON | STA | RES | ACC | Galta | Fredrik Strand | 80 | 77 | 78 | 65 | Munoz | Daniel | 79 | 72 | 72 | 71 | Habtemichael | Daniel | 78 | 74 | 73 | 66 | Buitrago | Santiago | 78 | 70 | 74 | 80 | Petelin | Jan Drago | 78 | 70 | 71 | 75 | Cattaneo | Mattia | 78 | 70 | 74 | 64 | Raileanu | Cristian | 77 | 74 | 73 | 70 | Rivera | Kevin | 77 | 73 | 74 | 72 | Rachid | Elias Abou | 77 | 73 | 73 | 68 | Tejada | Harold | 77 | 72 | 76 | 70 | Gonzalez | Abner | 77 | 71 | 73 | 70 | Berthet | Clement | 77 | 70 | 75 | 75 | Rochas | Remy | 77 | 70 | 70 | 73 | Evans | Alexander | 77 | 70 | 72 | 67 | Ciccone | Giulio | 77 | 70 | 70 | 69 |
Like every CT mountain race this season, Galta is the top climber present! He might have to play catch up after Stage 1 though, as his team as in the midfield when it comes to TTT strength! Munoz and Habtemichael might be the real gainers from the TTT, although it remains to be seen if Munoz can stay with his team on Stage 1! The likes of Buitrago and Cattaneo are also expected to feature near the top with their skill and TTT combos.

Climbing field is so deep in CT this year, Osorio not even on the favorites list, will need a good TTT to have a chance. Need to be better than we were in Lithuania.

Wow, what a disastrous squad we're sending here, I don't really know if I want to follow this race at all |

Stage 1 was always going to be about limiting our losses, and I guess we did an okay-ish job. Let's see what Santi can do on the next two stages, on paper he's one of the better climbers here and he's generally been aggressive so far this season so I'm hoping he can pull of a nice move or two.

What an unexpected win!
We have this marked down as a very important race. Home turf, and we hav a goal set of winning the GC. This helps...

Think it might have actually been a good thing for us not to have won the TTT so that there is no confusion about which riders to support on these important mountain stages. Maybe Barta can even get into the Stage 3 breakaway depending on whether he loses time. Congrats to the surprise winners!
Vermaerke could be a surprise youth classification threat as well which was unexpected.

Ouch, bad TTT, even with the climbers dropped.
Thanks for the report!

I will take that; our 3 climbers finished in the front 5 and put some time into many other climbers. Probably not enough to make a difference given what is to come but hopefully good enough to get us some protection.
Congrats to Dane.

Very hopeful for a good result here.
Not a bad start in the TTT setting up Habtemichael with good chance.

Love seeing Buitrago get into a position to use his ACC at the finish

Well done, specially Holmes! The points that we did not gain from winning the stage we get from kom. Now Galta win the last stage and gc! Fingers crossed

Whoa, Santi! That's exactly what I was talking about, beautifully executed move. It'll be an uphill battle to keep the jersey against Galta, hopefully we can just mark him and arrive at the line in a larger group. In any case, stage win and wearing the jersey already make it a succesful race, particularly as we are not known for our TTT prowess!

Great pacing from Rachid and good job to the domestiques keeping it close all day and getting into the KOM standings. Thank goodness that original breakaway didn't get enough traction to stay away all day - that would've been a disaster!
Congrats to Dippofix and Heine - two fantastic climbers showing their prowess

Really nice stuff from Osorio, pity he got caught near the end, but 5th is a good outcome. Tomorrow not as hard so optimistic he can hold on. Hoehn wasting his effort on that break was a poor choice.
Great ride by Buitrago, good to see Colombians doing well.

If Gebremedhin can hold on to his top 15, we would be over the moon! |

Really bizarre stage, would've thought we'd be made to fight harder for the yellow jersey. Absolutely over the moon with that - GC, stage, points jersey, what more could we possibly have asked for? Still a way to go in the season but Santi stepping up at just the right time with some incredibly valuable points in the fight for promotion and perhaps even the podium.
