Interesting to see you plan to keep all of your younger climbing leaders still. Curious to see how you balance them on a PCT schedule. Haig will surely fetch enough for some huge training, that's for sure.

Haig should have suitors in PT regardless and I do quite like your core for bouncing right back to PT, even without him so you should be in a good spot.

I'm sure we'll continue our yearly transfer talks for another year
Maybe after two Polish TTers and a Polish sprinter, it's a Polish climber's turn to join us? There's obviously an even more interesting dude up there, that will make you struggle to keep your inbox organized, but we'll see

Impressive climbing squad even minus Haig. Would really rather see a yes next to Ardila or Amezawa not because I can afford them but because I don't need them both haunting my calendar.
Sure we will touch base in transfers.

It's indeed a scary prospect to encounter these climbers (even some of them) regularly this season.

Are you sure you don't want to sell Ardila back to PT? I really don't want to face him this season

Ardila + Amezawa + Almeida is a scary combo if all are kept as intended, but that sure seems like a massive overkill

I would love to see Ardila really tear up PCT in a similar way Beltran used to

Everyone else made the same comments.... Mostly intrigued to see what happens to that Haig cash, i guess making Ardilla terrifying!

Very glad to not be focusing on mountains this season, and much less keen on focusing on hills seeing who you plan to keep |

Summary
As i suspected, transfers dont went as planned. After just 24h i went in a spiral with an Ewan overbid, that wagecap wise i needed to sell old time members of the team like Ariesen, Kenyeres, Dina, Stancu. Sure, the transfer of Haig went as planned (swapping for Benoot was a good surprise), but Amezawa and Altur was a cirumstancial move.
Even with those moves the team was without enough members and restricted wagecap. So, here have come as loaanies Jarc, Bechkov, Huerta, Singh, Pinzon and Wenzel. Never had so much members for a one season train ANd still needed some human resources, thats why contracted as stagiares Vinokurov, Artz, Domgjoni and Pavlides.
After a while it seemed that only Ewan and Stewart coming from FA, but i feeled that i need a real puncheur helper, thats why Le GAc came nearly in the last moments.
All in all i just have only 13 full riders, thats a strange feeling and a lot of work postponed to the next transfer season.
The team is balanced terrain wise, but after the 4 leaders the support squad its a little bit of thin. |

What a group of leaders. Support could be a lot better but those four should promote you back immediately!
I think it was a good call to trade away both Haig and Altur. You are in a good position to promote without them and not having any 32 year old leaders makes the adaption to PT much easier if you indeed go up.

It's difficult to disagree with knockouts conclusions regarding the decisions on leaders aswell as the obvious promotion! It should be very "easy/manageable" to stay up next season without touching your leaders, but only building on top of those.
The point about the domestiques though, I don't really think is necessarily so bad. I can see other PCT teams relying on riders like Carretero Millan, Brozyna, Rhim, Moricz, Scotson and Stash as leaders in some races, so to have those to simply backup your leaders seem like a very good base for some depth scoring aswell.
The only thing I could see as an issue is the help for Caleb Ewan. There's a long way from 75FL, 83SPR to riders with 73/74FL and 75-77SPR. Especially when you are up against sprinters like Dainese, Peak, Enger, Grosu, Coquard, van Poppel and Jakobsen who all have a better balanced sprint train potential. I hope he can fight for himself, so you don't get too many dissapointments. But that's a point to potentially improve next season when money is ready for an 79-80SPR leadout rider

At first glance this looked like the big favourite for the division, but apart from the four leaders and some climbing depth the scoring options lack a bit. But if you get these leaders working out well you should still be in the promotion race.

Your 4 leaders are scary. Comparing to my team, you can see a clear gap between a team that should be able to survive the PCT (Me) and a team that should easily promote (your team). Ewan is scary! So versatile! Ardilla is insane and young!! Almeida also insane and young! Benoot is scary too.
Great leaders and decent support. Could be better but tbh I don't think it will matter! Nice work!

I agree with you that there are solid domestiques around but most of them are pure climbers or one-dimensional cobblers. I see no problem for the mountain races with Almeida and/or Ardila. The hilly races only has Le Gac. I sometimes had the impression that hill support doesnt matter as much at times but that is basically non-existant support with two hybrid leaders surely focussing a fair bit on the hills. Benoot has good support for flat cobbles, but both Moricz and Scotson might struggle a bit on the hillier cobbles where Benoot shines. Whether they suffice for those, is an open question that will have to be watched. I do see the same question marks behind the sprint train as you do.

Looking at the top 4 riders this looks more like a PT team
I'm interested to see how you divide the races between Almeida, Ardila and Benoot, but a bit more schedule flexibility that's allowed in PCT should make it doable

Hopefully Benoot can continue his impressive performance in the PCT for you. Probably a surefire direct return to PT is waiting for you. Will be very surprised if that doesn't happen!
