 Rheden GP (PTHC) - Discussion

Welcome to The Netherlands for the PTHC classic Rheden GP! Last year's winner Wisniowski is the USA for the Tour of the Battenkill, so unless ELCO's Summerhill has a very good day, we definitely expect a first time winner here. Let's have a look at the profile.
Not a lot of cobbles and mostly flat, so the outcome is never certain. Last year we had a group of cobblers battling for the win, but for example in 2020 we saw Kristoffer Halvorsen being victorious here in The Netherlands. Let's have a look at the best cobblers.

Pedersen obviously as the big favourite with his great cobbling and good sprint, but some slightly weaker similar riders will be hoping to be able to finish it themselves. Last year's numbers two and five, Stallaert and Theuns, are definitely podium candidates as well tomorrow. Other good cobblers who might surprise with their sprint are Altur, Tiller and Siric.
But history has shown a sprinter with some okay cobbling stats can also win this race. So what sprinters can do so this year?

All of these riders, simply put. Vermeersch both a decent cobbler and a good sprinter, he should love this race even more next year. Bol the best sprinter, but he might be on domestique duty. Nommela a very dangerous allrounder as well.

Need a big race here to get some breathing space. Should be a good race for Pedersen, just hope he won't be too aggressive.

Oh well, I'd like to swap the Rheden and Battenkill opposition, then it might be a great final PTHC race as a team leader for Theuns. Now I have to hope that the top cobblers are less aggressive than last year; if it comes down to a bunch sprint, Eddie should still have his chances for a good result.
In earlier years, Bol might have had a shot as well, but nowadays I fear the cobbles are too decisive. Still, why not give it a try?

Summerhill and Edmondson are here while the greeks are partying elsewhere. Will be interesting to see if either could make a last stint of glory. Edmondson coming straight off a decent America with a stage win, and Summerhill have multiple surprising subtop results throughout the season. It would be a fitting way to end their ELCO-career before moving on in the off season.

This is Joeri Stallaert's final cobblestone race of the season and maybe, depending on renewals, of his Bralirwa career. At least it's the final race where he's going to be somewhat competitive at this level. I hope he makes it a good one. Top 10 should probably be the minimum ambition. Good luck everyone!

Suspect it’s no coming back for us in the top 5 rankings, but a good result from Anderberg would be great appreciated to try to stop the bleeding we saw in ToNE Surely Pedersen wins this, there can’t be another way with the split and Per not here. |

Pretty solid result here. We needed a 6th place to cover our expectations, but landed in the same area through the depth of Edmondson and Affini. 9th in this field is a good result for Summerhill.
We couldn't attack/defend in numbers like we usually do, so it's very pleasing to see that we did infact end up with a solid points haul. It is, however, in Battenkill the real points can be scored/lost for us.
Lierse isn't giving up the title fight without a fight getting 3rd here putting the maxiumum pressure on ISA, Sony and myself. Nice to see!

Perfect race by Pedersen and a perfect way to end a great season for him. I hope that's enough for us to stay up. I would definitely had been sure of it before the season, if someone had said 5700+ points. But still some races left, we have either way had a great season with our two main guys.

Some very solid outings from Chatarunga and Vanbilsen. Rangel as our local stagiaire getting in the break and scoring some points is the icing on the cake

Except for that, cool to see Teunissen delivering on demand. Feels like the title is there for Gazelle already, but I don’t have an actual overview of the scorings in the last races. |

He leaves PTH/PTHC racing through the big door, hats off for this amazing result! Beating Pedersen here would have been too much of a fairy tale I guess, even being the only one to hold on is amazing - one final time, he showed that kind of aggressive racing I've loved him for in the past through years!
If there was any doubt left that we'd survive, I guess it should be gone after this race. Great job by Eddie - and also a nice attempt by Paprstka, even though he ended up not scoring at all in the end.
Congrats to Grieg, Pedersen really wants to keep on racing in PT as shown this month!
