Rheden GP
The race is reported by kandesbunzler26
Welcome to the 10th edition of the Rheden GP. This race while on paper being a cobbled classic can throw up a few surprises here or there. In fact one could say it functions a lot like a flat classic. The course isn't too hard so it's not unusual to get a big group heading into the final kilometres, which can lead to late attack or a bunch sprint. There was even an occasion when the peloton failed to completely catch the early breakaway.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| FL | HI | ST | RS | CB | SP | AC | Pedersen | 77 | 69 | 78 | 80 | 83 | 78 | 77 | Wisniowski | 80 | 71 | 75 | 76 | 83 | 73 | 76 | Stallaert | 77 | 67 | 76 | 68 | 81 | 79 | 76 | Senechal | 75 | 67 | 79 | 74 | 82 | 69 | 74 | Theuns | 72 | 74 | 76 | 73 | 80 | 77 | 76 | Daniel | 73 | 69 | 76 | 76 | 80 | 76 | 72 | Tiller | 74 | 70 | 76 | 75 | 79 | 74 | 73 | Teunissen | 76 | 67 | 77 | 73 | 81 | 67 | 69 | Kamyshev | 77 | 65 | 81 | 75 | 82 | 66 | 60 | Spengler | 74 | 67 | 74 | 73 | 83 | 62 | 70 | Anderberg | 78 | 69 | 77 | 76 | 80 | 60 | 73 | Van Hooydonck | 73 | 71 | 75 | 74 | 81 | 61 | 72 | Neilands | 77 | 69 | 74 | 73 | 78 | 71 | 67 | Polanc | 72 | 73 | 78 | 73 | 78 | 67 | 75 | Van Keirsbulck | 72 | 71 | 75 | 73 | 78 | 70 | 68 | Blythe | 73 | 63 | 71 | 66 | 79 | 73 | 68 | Zubov | 68 | 63 | 70 | 69 | 79 | 61 | 69 |
Despite all that was said, the cobblers still need to be looked at as the primary options for this race. The likes of Pedersen and Stallaert are great if the race comes down to a sprint and they are there to contest it. Don't forget about Theuns who has dominated PCT fields this season, or perhaps this is a change for Daniel to secure a big result.
Wisniowski might be better off attacking earlier, but he's been having such a great season that he seems capable of winning in whichever way. Senechal, Teunissen and Kamyshev would certainly benefit from the former, while Spengler might be petitioning for more cobbled sections to be added. For Evonik this might be one of the race classics where Neilands might take leadership over Polanc. Van Hooydonck, Blythe and Zubov round out a strong contingent from the PCT division.
| FL | HI | ST | RS | CB | SP | AC | Gaviria | 76 | 72 | 74 | 76 | 72 | 83 | 84 | Ewan | 75 | 71 | 73 | 71 | 70 | 83 | 81 | Hsu | 75 | 67 | 75 | 70 | 72 | 80 | 79 | Rowe | 77 | 65 | 74 | 68 | 74 | 78 | 78 | Harrison | 72 | 67 | 73 | 70 | 73 | 78 | 81 | Thwaites | 72 | 64 | 72 | 68 | 75 | 77 | 74 | Dakteris | 75 | 64 | 74 | 70 | 72 | 77 | 77 | Kuroeda | 72 | 70 | 76 | 77 | 76 | 76 | 73 | Darbinyan | 72 | 66 | 72 | 71 | 76 | 76 | 74 | Kurianov | 79 | 65 | 76 | 74 | 71 | 75 | 70 | Kuroeda | 74 | 63 | 72 | 73 | 77 | 74 | 78 | Bohli | 74 | 68 | 79 | 75 | 77 | 74 | 68 | Vermeersch | 74 | 67 | 71 | 73 | 73 | 74 | 76 | De Bondt | 76 | 67 | 72 | 69 | 72 | 74 | 76 |
I said sprinters had a decent chance at this race and it seems a few managers thought the same. All these sprinters are solid on the cobbles to survive until the end. Headlining this list are Gaviria and Ewan, two of the fastest men on the tour. Their teams are certainly geared towards setting them up for a sprint finish. Hsu is another fast man to take note of. Another interesting rider is Rowe who is part of a deep Lampre squad and is known for his late attacks, but is a fast finisher also.

The only time the Kuroeda brothers lead our line all season, and seems like a good decision to have the other two avoid this one with the startlist! Hoping for a surprise result or a Top 20 at best.
Thanks for the preview red

I have absolutely zero expectations for this race. Both Rowe (pre decline) and Daniel have historically done well here but as proven this year on cobbles that hasn't meant jack, won't be surprised to see some random 77 cobbler make the last cut with Daniel losing 5 minutes.
Thanks for a great preview and looking forward to the report!

After the high of ToA Glanbia come here and the Battenkill and remember why we will probably still be relegated ...
Thanks to Red and good luck all

Would be great to get a big result here, to more or less secure the place before the final month. On paper it should be a good race for Pedersen, but you never know. Haven't been convinced by the cobbles in ToNe or Arenberg lately, so let's see...

Big race for us after some of our rivals did pretty well recently. I'm hoping for a podium result for Stallaert, which is reasonable if the big sprinters are distanced before the finale, and less so if it's an open battle against Gaviria or Ewan. Hopefully Teggart can score a few depth points.

With Gerts in Battenkill, this is a rare opportunity for Van den Berg to lead the team.

This one got all the more important with the results in Arenberg and most likely in ToNE as well. We’re here with our cobbles team, and hopefully they will contribute making it a favourable race for cobblers. Really hope Wisniowski has one final great effort in him this season.
Looking forward to the racing, kandesbunzler! |

Definitely picked the wrong race here for Theuns - but yeah, didn't know pre-season I'd have any notable cobbler at all, so any points he scores is more than I was expecting when going for this band
If the cobbles aren't too hard, he should make the selection and then be among the favourites for a reduced bunch sprints. But if they aren't even hard enough to drop the sprinters, it could be anyone's race to win.
Good luck to all, thanks for the preview!

Its been fairly obvious for quite some time that this would be getting the far stronger startlist but the way the bands were structured, i think i wouldnt have changed it even in hindsight.
On paper a pretty bad race for Polanc but i also have the feeling that Kurianov can surprise here.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Can definitely live with 5th by Theuns. More might have been doable, but at least the Top 3 definitely feel right on this course.
Wisniowski just unstoppable, Aker clearly back on track to the title - big congrats!
Thanks for the report.

Always hoping for a win, but a podium and some decent depth makes it a fairly good race for us. Big congrats to ember on another big win!

So close to a win, but you really can't complain about just barely missing out against the world champion. Tremendous effort by Stallaert to catch up to Wisniowski time and time again. Okbamariam and Teggart both in the Top 30 give us another nice boost, what a strong race for the team all around! Congrats ember and thanks for the nice report

Amazing!!! That was perfectly played by Wisniowski and Anderberg, and then a super impressive final kilometers by Wisniowski. Feared Stallaert would take it when they started the final kilometer together, but luckily none of them had much left.
That’s a great end to our cobbles team’s season. What a fairytale it has been, with Wisniowski finishing the job again and again too. |

Aweful result, even for us. Should atleast content the top 20 in such a race. Barely made it to top 50.
I guess PCT will be a nice touch of fresh Air.

Jams! We didn't get 0 points!!!
Aker train rolling with another Wisniowski victory and the depth to back it up even more - congrats ember!
