Chrono d'Arenberg
The race is reported by kandesbunzler26
Welcome to the 6th edition of Chrono d'Arenberg. One change to the race is the same as all the other time-trial classics, there is just one leg. The course itself has stayed the same, 11 cobblestone sectors of different lengths are on the menu. Personally I'd label this race more for the TT than cobble specialists, it's been a theme all year how important time-trials can be. At the same time you can't hope to fight for the top spots here without some skill on how to ride over cobblestones.
With that said let's look at the favourites:
| TT | CB | | TT | CB | | TT | CB | Anderberg | 76 | 80 | Scotson | 76 | 75 | Siddikov | 77 | 70 | Gamper | 76 | 79 | Stavrakakis | 75 | 77 | Van Hooydonck | 72 | 81 | Wisniowski | 74 | 83 | Dillier | 79 | 67 | Kasperkiewicz | 72 | 81 | Van Baarle | 77 | 74 | Schäppi | 75 | 76 | Oliveira | 76 | 70 | Vlatos | 80 | 67 | Yatsevich | 80 | 64 | Debesay | 72 | 79 | Ganna | 80 | 66 | Cavagna | 76 | 73 | Leknessund | 76 | 69 | Zmorka | 82 | 61 | Per | 72 | 82 | Nareklishvili | 73 | 75 |
The are two clear favourites that should battle it out for the win, both former winners. Gamper won the race last year with Anderberg winning the year before. The Swede has improved his cobbled stat so he can be considered a slight favourite this year. Expecting to fight for the final podium spots are Wisniowski and Van Baarle. Will the better cobbler or better TTer come out on top?
After that we have three great time-trial specialists. Vlatos and Ganna both have some ability over the cobbles, Zmorka might just focus on powering through the asphalt sections. Places 5-10 should be pretty open in fact I wouldn't be too surprised if Scotson,  Stavrakakis or Schäppi feature highly with their hybrid stats. Cavagna is always a top 10 contender, while Yatsevich is coming off winning the cobbled time-trial in the Tour of Northern Europe.

Thank you for the preview, red, and looking forward to kb’s report!
Having said that, the TT in ToNE makes me really sceptical of what we can do here. Pre season, I thought Anderberg must be the big favourite here, also seeing Gamper’s dominant win last year, but having seen ToNE, I fear we fight for a top 5 at best, and then Wisniowski a top 10 as a maximum, which will not be according to our title hopes
With a rider like Yatsevich winning in ToNE, Vlatos and Ganna must really fancy their chances here, and then there is also a bunch of riders like Cavagna, Leknessund, Siddikov and Oliveira, being solid, but not spectacular, hybrids for the cobbles and TT stats.
Very curious to see how it plays out. Fingers crossed for great daily forms for Anderberg and Wisniowski! |

Even a win won't be enough here. Siddikov and Sajnok will have to step up as well. Thanks for the preview!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I forgot we were even here and looking at the preview I can see why.
Hopefully we manage to sneak at least some points out of this one.

It's been a while since our last race, so happy to see my guys on the bike again. Don't expect too much though in this race and with this field, but would be pleasantly surprised to see somebody in the top-10 and leave the race with like 40/50 points. Thank you for the nice preview, reddy.

Not much for us here. Young is in play for a Top 20, more likely Top 25 result, the others are just here for XP. Ty for the preview!

Not optimistic after Northern Europe. A top 20 would be nice.

Finally I take part in this race. I hope van Baarle can shine here and I'm also intrigued to see how Kasperkiewicz does with his decent TT stat. |

A miracle from Debesay would be cool. He's worked some of those before so why not give him some hope?

Couldn't really find good use of Pedersen's last two races days, so sent him here. With a good daily form, he might be able to pull off a decent result. Oliveira and Eekhoff somewhat better hybrids, so perhaps a top 10 could be possible. Let's see!

Ooof, some weird results there. Was the cobble rating altered or something?

Seems like this race has now just turned into a ITT classic, which is a shame but congrats to LPH on another win for Zmorka and thanks for the preview and the report!

Okey, wow, should have sent Würtz. Not what we expected after doing this race also in the previous years, but hopefully it won't matter.
Congrats on the win, Nemolito!

Bad day for Per, but hey, Kamna makes up for it despite me thinking he'd be hopeless here. 12th is a fine result.
Congrats to Nemo, though a 61 cobble guy winning here when there are so many better hybrids is kind of unfortunate.
Thanks for the report!

Wow, mega disappointing result. Expected this to be our best bet for a massive points haul in the run-in of the season, but clearly not. We must bounce back in Rheden and defend like heroes in ToNE, which feels like a lot to ask for.
Thank you for the report, kandesbunzler! |

+1.
Congrats obviously to Nemo (once again ^^), and thanks for the report.
But I'm disappointed as well that the cobbles just don't seem to matter anymore in any race that isn't a cobbled classic. Maybe making the cobbles "red" could help to see the "desired" outcome (as I don't think that this was intended to be a pure TTers race).
Los Pollos clearly are crushing everyone lately, already scaring their future PT competitors
