National Championships 2022 Discussion

This thread is based on previous years

The regular season is now over and we've entered the post-season which consists of the World Championships and...the topic of this thread - the National Championships.

As the format from the years prior is working pretty well, the 2022 MGUCI National Championships will be based on the same formula.

In case you've forgotten and need a refresher, here's the procedure from previous years:

All teams will have 8 riders with gaps being filled by 'Generic Riders' with all stats being 55.

There are 24 teams for all races (including combined NC's), meaning that there will be teams consisting of solely generic riders in almost every race.


On the bigger nations with lots of nomminated riders there will be cuts based on the riders' strength in case of too many riders/teams. Therefore if a team had a single rider that was not made for the chosen terrain, there's a high chance to lose his NC spot in such case.

Should a team has more than 8 riders from a single nation, those riders were sorted in ascending order and a cut was made after the 8th rider. After that the remaining riders go to a second team or in extreme cases even third team to make sure all nominated riders from that team can participate.

The routes have been selected beforehand by the managers and can be found in the spoiler below.

Thanks for the thread, Ivan. Don't think we'll be able to do a lot, as the terrains don't really fit our riders in general. Lopez Nolasco as the only one from his country secures at least one (double) title, and one could expect Zmorka to win the Ukrainian TT as well.

Damn. Nareklishvili came closer than I expected in Georgia, too bad he just misses out on the road nc. Time trial victory was never on the table anyway. Thanks for the report lief, and to Abhi for opening it this morning with the Danish nc's. Hoped for Carlsberg to win their home race, but alas.

Great to see Kalf retaining his championship. And winning the entire race altogether, not just the Estonian one.

On the other hand, I guess Omer will get back the TT title only when the other Goldstein will be missing.

Our only path to success in Israel would have been a flat non-cobbled race, so not surprising to see Cohen without any chance. I'm unhappy with the terrain in most of my riders' countries, so I don't think I'll get many NCs anyway.

Bjerg sixth in both events, a good result in the RR but a disappointment in the TT.

The Belgian lads on a non-cobbled route had no chance. I though that was the only thing Belgians could do Pfft

That was unfortunate.

Without the late break win, Vansevenant apparently would have won the peloton sprint. This would have been a big surprise by him early on in his career.

A bit weird to see the flat races not really ending well for sprinters so far.

Since i was so smart and forgot to vote so my riders could participate I can look at all of this relaxed Grin But when i see hwat happened so far i feel like we could have had a chance.

BTW the belgium and the first multi NC's with blr. lie, and so on at the overview is still missing.
