A long day in France! 234 km of mostly flat roads between the rivers Eure and Loire, as the race will finish in the capital of Touraine, Tours, originating from Chartres, known for its Gothic cathedral, and not Paris, as the name of the race could let you think.
In any case, the race has been run since 2007, as either ProTour, C2HC, or PTHC, its level since 2019. In 15 editions, nobody managed to win the race twice. Let’s see if that might change tomorrow.

You might recognize this favorite’s list. Indeed, it’s very close to the one of Philadelphia International, which took place two months ago, as everyone has its eyes set on the Tour de France. But now we’re in France, and all eyes of the MG worlds will be set on this flat-ish classic.
So the sprinters all are strong here, but that might not be sufficient today. With some steep hills near the end, good positioning and energy might be necessary to win, or to only be able to sprint. At this game, Gaviria, Ewan, with last year winner Degenkolb as a lead-out, Grosu and most of all, Demare, might have the better chances.
Don’t rule out the PCT sprinters though, as in Philadelphia, it was Silvestre who surprised the top sprinters. His manager surely will be happy of a repeat.
So, probably still no second win, as Degenkolb is the only one to come back, and he’ll be helping Ewan.
But the sprinters aren’t the only one to have a chance in this. As usual in this classics, a late attack by a rouleur might surprise the big teams. The route might easily contribute to that.

A nice list of offensive, good on the flat riders. All will not be allowed to attack, as it will probably depend on the abilities of the sprinters of their teams. With a good punch, a good spirit and some abilities to sprint, Bernas might be the best placed on this list, while Veyhe would have to drop any other companion for that, as he’s not that fast. Also don’t rule out  Van Garderen, who should be his team leader. He’ll probably not be able to drop the pack by himself, though.

Praying that Kennaugh can string together a good result here, I expect a late attack from Dzama, but the field is way too strong for anything to stick most likely. Thnaks for the preview!

Arnaud will like the finale, he just has to ensure he keeps up what I expect to be good initial positioning into the sprint preparation.
Steimle and Niu are some of the more resilient leadouts, if it were to come to that.

Guess we have to expect something similar to Philadelphia. Can't expect Minali to be among the leading positions in the sprint. Maybe Stoltz can do something.

A lot of work for not a lot of return in the top, would have hoped for a rider in the top 10 but it was obvious looking at the positions at around 5kms out that this was doomed to not be a fantastic race. We still put three riders within the top 20 but a single rider in the top 5 pretty much outscores that!

Minali quietly sneaking into a Top 10 spot is great for us. Absolutely no mention all stage and then he's just there. The kind of results we hoped for when persisting with him through his development. Stoltz once again getting us some minor points is always nice to see.

Guess we did well enough. Animating the race, showing our colors. Wohler tried something and ended up with a low Top-20 result, which is fine.

It's great to get another podium. Especially since at some point it looked like it will be much worse than that. Surprised Grosu didn't get any help from the team in the finale, but I guess most of the sprinters didn't.
