A lot of PTHC in this period and also several C1. Only Arab Tour as HC and couple C2 as well for the PCT teams.
How did those change the picture? The continental GT not to forget!
The PTHC/HC overview shows that Mapei dominated the big events. Mainly Slovenie, Deutschland and Arab Tour was scored huge followed by Desigual in similar races, only leave out Arab Tour and add San Sebastian.
Repsol and Farfetch still fight for the PCT crown and this update Repsol won as 3rd best in the big races ahead of Farfetch in 4th.
MOL, Bakkafrost or Popo4ever not looking that strong in the promotion fight while relegation wise Aramco did a great performance and also Swisslion or GCN move up.

Despite the high amount of PTHC race days, the smaller races delivered the bigger points for several teams. Obviously the HC points given in the Tour of America were key here. Kraftwerk with incredible 908 points in this race go over the 1000 point mark in total in the small events. Desigual and Valio scored quite similar in America and also make big moves up, while Fablok might not have scored as much PpRD wise there but still get good points in the relegation fight, similar to Azteca.
Xero starts the regular non ToA points.

The full ranking shows a swap at the top. Repsol takes the lead from the all season dominant Farfetch team. Projections though late in the season make more sense now and they see Farfetch still passing them due to less race days used.
Mapeo remains in 3rd while both Desigual and Kraftwerk move up into promotion spots following their great run in America.
Bakkafrost, Xero and Mol behind.
At the bottom Campari is relegated more or less. Adastra and Nordstrom are in huge danger. Aramco and Azteca can hope again as Andorra is not far ahead.
GCN and Swisslion have a small gap now.

Thanks for the update. Sad but expected that it looks like we're all but 100% confirmed to be in the ct next year. At least that allows me to start planning a bit more around that.

Pretty awful period for us. Huge letdowns in Slovenie, Andorra and Deutschland especially, which have unfortunately sent us out of the promotion battle. The remaining races are unlikely to give us any major points, so I'd say we're probably looking at 8th/9th place in the end. I'd take it ahead of the season, but given how we performed up until the last rankings update, it's disappointing.
Desigual has taken a huge step toward securing that 4th promotion place, but the battle for 5th is still wide open between a few teams. Could see either one of Kraftwerk, Xero and MOL placing there in the end!
Thanks for the update

Incredible ToA for Kraftwerk, Valio and Desigual showing that it was really worth it for them to go there. It's still pretty wide open between 1-2, 11 and upwards and 19 and downwards, so some really intense fights in the last races. I love it!

First off, awesome to see us pass our total last year by over 200 points already and looking well on track for our pre-season goal of Top 10 Really happy with how this season fits in our long-term view, taking some more talents whilst making our squad super youthful, nobody declining soon and improving our current standing enough that properly targeting promotion could (but rarely does it turn out so simply) just take a few more touches (plus maxed Areruya and Schomber) next season, which is earlier than I expected.
Hard to see us managing to stave off those below never mind above - fully expecting 9th which I won't be upset about by any stretch of the imagination - I wanted a top 10 but didn't expect or predict it iirc. Bakkafrost as a possible exception with their RDs remaining but would have to compare the remaining days as we really are running out of even the second-tier races I mentioned last time - with the really strong ones long gone.
But it's so mouth-wateringly tight from 5th-9th that if we pull off some truly crazy stuff (and got all our dumbassness out of the way in ToNE where it wasn't for points) then who knows? Some very exciting battles to come up and down the table, thanks for the update roturn!
Also, very sad that Izagirre passed Bennett in the rankings so I can't keep making "Bennett is the best puncheur in the PCT" jokes
Speaking of, can't believe Bennett will finish this season with less points than last. Not due to the training since the division as a whole strengthened and he probably just kept his position there, but I felt he performed stronger this season. He had a few shockers last season but I guess this season they've been more and worse (especially the fact he finished outside the top 10 in Portugal vs a podium last season) and my memory is just clouded by his highs being so high. Maybe a certain amount of bad planning too
Spoiler Interesting then that his training isn't the difference at all in our positive upswing in points compared to last year - from a quick look it's the return of Jams, Rowe improving, Areruya improving obviously) enough to cover Grmay and himself from last year plus some, and Meurisse > Dyrnes by over 200 points it looks like. Houle could improve slightly, Debesay is looking to have weakened a bit at the moment but still time to change that. |

Rheden GP (Breen), Lithuania (Gallopin/Vichot), Japan Cup (Vichot) and dell'Emilia (Monsalve) left for us. We'll be lucky to get anything out of Lithuania and Japan. Breen and Monsalve could do well, but are not among the favorites. Realistically, we're looking at about 100 points all together in the remaining races, I reckon.

Our chance of survival at this point is very thin but we will continue to fight in the races we have left in hope of making up the gap!

What a charge up the standings from our boys! Promotion still on the table going into the final races of the season. Thanks for the update!

Not great as I expected, but we can certainly climb a few spots as a lot of races we participated in were fillers

Nice to see Swisslion now coming closer to staying in the PCT. Interesting battle at the top, as Farfetch 'finally' loses their lead, but with 8 rd's less the battle is far from over! Also crazy stuff by Kraftwerk in ToA, I guess they hold the record of most points scored there.
Manninnen going to be hot stuff on the FA market if their manager doesn't make it back in time.

My prediction that Kraftwerk would be in the relegation battle is looking like crying wolf after going from 17th to 5th!
I predict that we won't promote, we don't have any good scoring opportunities left. Lets see how well this prediction works out

Battenkill (Debesay/Rowe), Lithuania (Rowe/Areruya), Maroc (Bennett, which I forgot about and means he probably could edge himself from last year points-wise), Kigali (Schreurs), Lugano (Houle/Debesay), Japan (Meurisse), Emelia (Areruya).
Guess on paper I can't pretend we shouldn't definitely be having you But all of these races have genuinely high potential for us to bomb (as in, all these riders have just dissapeared in similar races this year aside from Areruya, who's probably the least high scorer for us in his races anyway compared to our bigger leaders ). Makes me feel more optimistic though if your prediction is right! |

Disappointing to lose the rankings lead after holding onto it all the way since the start of January, but hopefully if things in Lithuania go to plan we should take it back in the near future. With Maroc, a bunch of hilly races and Paillot in Bayern we should still really control our destiny, though I certainly wouldn't begrudge Aquarius (or even Heine with a bit of luck) a rankings victory as the aim for this season wasn't even promotion.
Looking at how Desigual and Kraftwerk did in the ToA I slightly regret not going there, but hindsight is a wonderful thing - and I can't really complain after the season so far. I'd think the top 4 are basically locked in now, especially with Yates in Lithuania and I guess Tenorio in Bayern as well for Desigual. Xero would be my pick for 5th looking at the remaining races, though I wouldn't count out MOL, and Kraftwerk have amazing depth for the hilly races.
Down at the bottom and it looks like we may see the current bottom 5 go down unless something remarkable happens, although can't rule out Andorra in particular getting drawn in. Campari, Adastra and Nordstrom face the challenge of how to rebuild teams which have aging leaders combined with a lack of talents coming through to replace them, while Aramco and Azteca have much the opposite problem and instead would have to think about how to hang onto talents. As a relegation specialist myself, I am happy to dispense advice on how to become a yo-yo team |

Arab was the surprise big scoring race for us in this period. Getting over 100 pts there was 2x what I expected to get. Balkans lived up to expectations which is great for a number of reasons. Mainly for the pts and to achieve at least one of our goals. Doing it at our home race is extra special though
We also got very solid scoring from smaller races like Ijsselmeer and Britain. So it looks we'll be able to avoid relegation for the 2nd year in a row, despite not really expecting to be in this position this time
Thank you for the update Roturn
