The CT flies out to New Zealand for the next race on the calendar, and it's a hilly classic. The race consists of two laps of a circuit with a couple of climbs in the first half and difficult profile of multiple hills in the second half. The finish is also on the hill-top, for an added degree of difficulty. The length of race will surely play a role, with the riders' stamina tested on the day. We're expecting a packed puncher field to be present here, and we're assured to have a new winner as no former winner is in the startlist.
| HIL | STA | RES | ACC | Edmondson | 79 | 75 | 72 | 76 | Bystrom | 79 | 75 | 72 | 76 | Meyer | 79 | 74 | 71 | 77 | Chaves | 79 | 74 | 73 | 72 | Costa | 79 | 71 | 70 | 70 | Roux | 78 | 78 | 71 | 75 | Siskevicius | 78 | 73 | 72 | 75 | Villella | 77 | 72 | 74 | 80 | Besada | 77 | 74 | 74 | 77 | Mehr-Wenige | 78 | 74 | 69 | 67 | Hoelgaard | 77 | 72 | 72 | 74 | Teklit | 77 | 75 | 72 | 70 | Zingle | 77 | 74 | 69 | 76 |
Last season's runner-up, Joshua Edmondson starts as top favourite for the win. However, it really is a four-way tussle for the top billing, with Bystrom, Meyer and Chaves, also very close in terms of ability. Chaves started off his season superbly, winning the season-opening race in San Cristobal and will be hoping to continue the good form. Equinor are looking for a turn around in fortunes, with their results a little below expectations so far. Meyer will hope to get some good points on the board for his team in his first race of the season.
Gunning for the top 5 and possibly for the podium are the trio of Costa, Roux and Siskevicius. Both Costa and Siskevicius come here on the back of podium finishes in San Cristobal and will be hoping for a repeat performance. Roux will be hoping to continue his team's trail-blazing start to the season, in what his first race as well.
Villella is another rider who did well in Cuba, and together with Besada, Mehr-Wenige, Hoelgaard, Teklit and Zingle will be eyeing at least the Top 10 as a satisfactory performance.
| HIL | STA | RES | ACC | Mutsumine | 77 | 73 | 70 | 71 | Diggle | 77 | 74 | 70 | 70 | Stuyven | 77 | 75 | 67 | 74 | Mudarra | 77 | 74 | 70 | 68 | Pellaud | 77 | 74 | 68 | 70 | McEvoy | 76 | 75 | 70 | 79 | Rovny | 76 | 75 | 73 | 73 | Bravo | 76 | 74 | 73 | 70 | Weiss | 76 | 75 | 70 | 74 | Othman | 76 | 73 | 70 | 76 | Skjerping | 77 | 71 | 67 | 65 | Pibernik | 76 | 76 | 68 | 74 | Roche | 76 | 72 | 69 | 66 |
PCT team Rakuten have thrown Mutsumine into the mix, in a rare leadership role, and the hope of claiming some extra points from the CT.
Riders like McEvoy will be hoping to improve on their form so far. He will be hoping that the race comes down a reduced bunch sprint where his explosive acceleration will come to good use.
The field really is stacked for positions 10-25, with all riders in the above very difficult to separate in terms of ability and suitability for this race.

Finally. After what seems like forever, we are back in action. Weiss should do quite well. It's close at the top, so who knows what will happen.

Jayco actually mentioned in the list of outsiders! Obviously not expecting big things, but maybe Othman can show the team's colors in this race not far away from our beloved Australia

Hoping for another top 5 from Davide here, he showed up in Cuba so why not do it on the other side of the world as well?

Last C2 race of the season. Hopefully Stuyven can do better than he did in San Cristobal and pick up some points for us

First appearance of Freuler for us. Hopefully he'll do some good support for Pellaud, who should get a Top 15 as in San Cristobal. If the pack should stay together, Freuler might get a great result on his own, thanks to his better acceleration. If we get both into the points, that would be great.
But of course, given our roster, it's mainly a filler race to get our youngsters/loanees some XPs.

Having Villella as our strongest puncheur prospect was always going to be a risk, but we still manage to secure a top 10 through Gaspar! Thanks for the report!

Exactly what I wanted to see. Good fighting from both Yang and Nishizono, kept the race somewhat entertaining, sponsors must be happy
