Classique du Grand-Duché Preview
The short sharp climbs and descents keep on coming relentlessly in the second half of the race and will give the riders no time to catch their breath. Anyone looking to win will have to be attentive to attacks, as a gap might be very difficult to chase down. There looks to be a very small chance of a big group making it to the finish together.
| Name | HIL | ACC | | Hagen | 85 | 79 | | Sagan | 82 | 76 | | Gastauer | 82 | 76 | | Spilak | 82 | 74 | | Borges | 78 | 81 | | Van Stayen | 79 | 78 | | McCarthy | 81 | 74 | | Kelderman | 82 | 72 | | Bystrom | 79 | 76 | | Bilbao | 79 | 75 | | Edmondson | 78 | 76 | | Mohoric | 78 | 75 | | Quevedo | 78 | 75 | | Dowsett | 80 | 71 | | Prevar | 78 | 73 | | Watson | 78 | 72 | | Chernetskiy | 78 | 71 | | Landa | 78 | 69 |
Edvald Boasson Hagen is the man to beat in every hilly race. His abilities going up short climbs is scary. Looking to make life difficult for him will be the likes of Spilak, Sagan, Kelderman and Gastauer, each of whom can win a race single-handedly on their day. Their tactics might include teaming up to put pressure on the Norwegian before he can assert himself.
The duo of McCarthy and Dowsett pose a potent threat. I'm tipping them for a good result. The favourites might just become too busy playing cat and mouse with each other, and duo mentioned here is strong enough to take advantage of any lapses.
Michael Van Staeyen is always a unique proposition in these races, much like his team. With the kind of finish lined up, he will not be able to use his sprinting skills too much, but we cannot count him out of contention.
Hugo Boss and Isostar come into this race with a two-pronged attack. Bilbao and Landa are the weapons of choice for Hugo while Isostar have preferred youngster Mohoric to lead their line along with Quevedo. It remains to be seen whether they are allowed to ride for themselves or are limited to domestique duties for team leader Kump.
The other riders who can make an impact are mentioned in the table above.
| Name | HIL | ACC | | Duchesne | 77 | 79 | | Kump | 76 | 80 | | Van Avermaet | 76 | 78 | | Phelan | 74 | 79 |
These are the riders who might not be the best in going up hills but have an acceleration which can trouble the best of the best. Look out for attacks from distance by these riders and if they can hang on till the end, their speed up the final climb might propel them ahead of the more fancied riders.

Need a little moral boost now, I reckon. A shame that we can't score any points here, cause the start list really should allow us to do a good race. Hopefully a podium.

Clearly a Top 5 needs to be our goal here to make our planning worth it.
There would've been quite a few different lineups throughout the season had we sent Demare here and Kelderman to P-N (though to be fair, for the sake of realism I didn't just send Demare to his home stage race for extra points).
Ideally, a podium place seems feasible with decent strategy and positioning. Additionally, Arndt may provide some points as well, a Top 15-25 result would reflect his abilities in this field. His secondary stats are surely above average.
Heider and Dunne will hopefully provide decent support deep into the race, with Lander and Weber attending purely to make our lineup eligible in the first place.

A race where no points can be expected. Can surely be called a mistake in planning considering I could have sent Dyrnes or Hoelgaard or both here, but my hope is that they instead will fight for breakaway glory in PN instead of hanging on to a 15th place here. Though, especially Dyrnes has proven both last season and in Colombo this season that more could maybe have been done.
EBH is the obvious favourite, with Spilak and Sagan being the obvious threats. |

After the lackluster edition last season I might actually be good for the race the Grieg is here with a full team.
Startlist makes me strangely excited about my team's chances. Having Van Stayen and GVA says a lot about my hill depth when Skujins, Smirnovs and Siskevicius are riding in the other races. The rest of the team is mostly composed of riders that I wanted to use in other situations and therefore, wasn't really willing to spend more than two RDs in the triple header.
Is the startlist correct? Project:Africa is listed with only two riders which shouldn't be possible? Also Tinkoff is listed with 5 riders only? Either the list is incomplete or they shouldn't be allowed to participate here?
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Project: Africa with only two riders in Omloop as well, so I'm guessing that just because of aidan's inactivity.

Some luck here to offset the lack of it in Tirreno would be great, but it will be hard to have Borges in the mix for the top places. One can dream about a high top10 though, which shouldn't be impossible.
Looking besides Eddy Boss I'd put my money either on Simon Spinach or Will Co. Kolderman.
Good luck everyone and thanks for the preview Abhishkek!

No expectations, which is a good thing after our T-A drama.
Special thanks for mentioning Phelan in a PT race preview! My hope for minor points is on Haas, but if Phelan somehow manages to get a result here, I would really appreciate it Would at least hope for someone trying to make the breakaway early on.

Perhaps the only race Bilbao will lead in throughout the season. Would be really pleased to see him step up here, after his dissapointing start in Badaling. EBH obvious favourite, Will be well challenged by Sagan though.

Ah
You do realize that the first primary isn't all-deciding in the presidential election?
