August is always a critical month for the PCT division, with it's 3 HC stage races. Add in a HC classic, and C1 too, it is a key month for all positional battles.
Top score of the month came from Swedbank-PEAB as Jonas Ahlstrand won the Baltic Chain Tour, certainly his breakthrough performance. It helped them to be the top scorer of the month, but not far behind were Children of Chernobyl. Fighting against relegation in style, by winning San Sebastian and being the top scorer in Portugal. Brajkovic win in Austria meanwhile was key for ONCE this month.

For once, let's start at the bottom. No change in the bottom 3. Sauber closed the gap to cycleYorkshire but Drucker losing his GC placing in the final Baltic stage has cost them. It's all change for the rest of the Top 20 though! (Well, except Euskaltel who stay 23rd)
The biggest jump comes from ONCE-Eroski. Led by Brajkovic, they are up 5 to 20th, and now just 25 points away from 17th. As it stands, it's not unreasonable to say that any team from 17th downwards could yet be part of the relegation fight. Just 6 behind ONCE are Azteca, who dropped 3 into 21st. Siam also dropping 3.
Replacing ONCE in 25th are Children of Chernobyl - they have moved out of the relegation zone! Only 33 points behind Mobil too, who had a very poor month. On the other hand, they are just 23 ahead of Vontobel who also had a strong points race in Portugal. Lululemon did well in Baltic, to move past 1000 points and stay in touch, despite slipping to 27th.
Now to the top end of the table. Aegon keep the lead, but Gazelle close the gap, as do Bpost - it's looking like a 3 way fight for the title. Ciolek really delivered for Puma to keep them 4th, while Evonik lose ground for the 5th spot - actually dropping to 7th - behind Karcher and Kenya Airways.
RBC are on the up, with their climb taking them to 8th - while perennial mid-table team Swedbank are now getting on an upward trend, and enter the Top 10. Which means that despite Machado winning his home race, Prio-Porto remain 11th.
Bank of Ireland slip out of the Top 10, while Buff are the biggest mover in the mid-table shuffling, up 4 spots to 16th. Eritel were down 3, and Nutresa down 4.

Onto the projected standings. Gazelle have the best PPrD so are still expected to top the table, ahead of Aegon and Bpost. Puma have now edged up into the 4th best PPrD, just ahead of Evonik and Kenya Airways. It's not unreasonable to expect at least 6 teams to promote, since Venchi are known to disband and currently look 'safe' in PT.
So there's work to do for the next best teams, Karcher, Prio, Risa and Swedbank. The teams ranked 12th-15th in the Projections, Eritel, Project Africa, Bonsucro and Azteca, all see strong gains on their current position. This is because they, along with Prio and Swedbank, all line up at the Tour of America next month.
As do many of the teams right in the thick of the relegation battle. Vontobel amongst them, and they have raced less than all other teams in the division, so should not too be worried about their current relegation position yet. Chernobyl are put back into the drop positions, America is 1 of only 3 races remaining for them.
The all important 25th position is quite interesting though. Mobil are in it, but are predicted to be safe by only 17 points ahead of Lululemon. Plenty to look out for in America then - could be nervous times for Nutresa and Siam Cement, who are not present there.

Alberto Contador has reclaimed the Individual rankings lead, ahead of Luis Leon Sanchez, his Austrian performance giving him a 28 point lead. Brajkovic is now just 53 points behind though,
Former teammates Van den Broeck and Ciolek move into the Top 10, while Ahlstrand climbs 26 to 14th, and Abal also moves into the Top 20. Nepomnyachsniy top scored in Portugal and is up 34 to 22.

Goddamn. Possibly out best month and we slip a place. But cross the 1000pt mark and keep that gap behind us. Then there's the predictions where we are back in the driving seat somewhat. Lot more chances to score than our immediate competitors and currently we are well in this fight.
Apart from the ToA, we've got some good races coming. Rheden with Thomas and Paris-Tours with Nelson are both HC races we have some chance of winning. Ploauy should be ok for us as well. Britain and Cyclistes not going to be the best but i don't think will be awful. Venteaux needs a big race from Petar. Then it's Emilla and Japan where i doubt we'll do well at all.
We've got a serious chance now where a race win might guarantee a team survival. Also means i can bring back the motivational speeches posts which i know you all missed

Rough month for us but with only two races on the schedule, and neither fitting our team or getting our top riders, it was expected. Need to have a big ToA, which will be tough but shouldn't be impossible.

A step down, as expected. Britain will probably be tough for us also, but I've big hopes for the other remaing races.
PPRD seems to indicate at least a top 12, with some of the teams further down still with a chance if they can deliver in America. But top 15 goal seems to being going good.
Also interesting to see Aegon cutting the PPRD difference between them and Gazelle, could be a very interesting fight for the title.
The same goes for the relegation zone. My, oh, my, Tour of America will be a vital race for those teams. Makes it even more intriguing with five of the six teams that between 22 and 27 place are in the race.

Obviously a hard month for Evonik but that had to be expected. Portugal was the expected catastrophe so I'm not too surprised about the loss two positions. Still, the predicted rankings look great. Much better than expected.
Feeling a bit bad for Vontobel. Di Maggio should have been enough to be safe from promotion.

Things looking good for the top 3 teams, Gazelle and Aegon especially are pretty amazing all throughout the year. Hoping that Evonik can make a late surge and manage the jump from CT to WT within just two seasons, which would be super amazing. Boys over at Bonsucro need more scoring material, Roy where are thou?

Zardini has only delivered 30 points, that's really disappointing, I was hoping he would do better than that for me this year but he's been shocking and I definitely can't see him staying next year. Not having a single guy in the top 100 in the rankings hurts, I knew we were going to be bad this season but I didn't think we would be that bad.
Hopefully this means lower wages all round for my riders and allows me to keep the ones I want and find buyers for or sack the ones I don't.

4 riders in the top 50 is a pretty good feeling, and I feel that it shows how well we have spread the load when it comes to scoring. Also nice to see that we are approaching the top two guys, and hopefully can really challenge for top 3. The rest of the promotion places are really tight though.
Tour of America is going to be incredibly valuable for a lot of the teams around the bottom. Also depending on who is leading Prio there, it could be hugely profitable for them too, and might even push them into automatic promotion.

Retarded performances are retarded. Cabrera did completelly fuck all at Baltic, Becerra lost 15th at Portugal, Moschella lost 10 minutes while 12th in Austria. The result is this.
Better pray my Tour of America gamble works, or else I might be going down. Lol. |

Not a great season but we are out of relegation at the moment which is a positive. Luckily Bouhanni had a good month so we scored a few points.
The Tour of America will be massive!

Brajkos awesome Austria pretty much secures us as expected, but even if that shouldnt be enough, we still have Colombia (Brajkovoci) and America (Anton's entire racedays basically lol) left. I assume LLS have Beijing left though, which is a shame, as Brajko could have a shot at defending individual rankings otherwise 
Lots of people counting on great americas now and that only makes me more excited for the lineup. Still hopefull for Anton-show there as I can't imagine too many top-guns entering.

Top 4 should all promote. They have the team to do so, and also a team to survive when spendind a bit more on the team. Karcher and Kenya might go up aswell, which would also be nice. I don't like to see Karcher bring Fiedler up though
The top 4 teams are also some of my favorite teams and persons involved with the game, so I'm really hoping to get them up. The more "friends" the merrier, as it is fun to compete against people that brings something extraordinary to the game. There are several of those guys in both PT, PCT and CT, though

Top3 is okay for me. After selling Luis Leon Sanchez I didn`t expect me so close to winning the title anyway. Still it would be cool if I somehow can manage to stay ahead of Gazelle though.
Just like Count Arach I am happy with the balance. Not exactly 4 in the top50 as with him but 4 in top52, which is just as good.
Another 2 in top75 and Aru as 100th making it 7 in top100 is excellent team performance throughout the whole season.
Groenewegen`s ~200 points might be the biggest reason, why I don`t get the title in the end, when seeing that very similar sprinters are 150-400 points better than him. Surely had some great races but also very bad ones, where he got 0-pointers in the end. Future is bright for him though. Just not next year. |

Exciting battles for every single place, September and October will definitely be awesome to follow. Karcher is doing something special, I think they were predicted to be relegated and are now really close to PT. Gazelle on the other hand is getting closer and closer to 1st, would be surprised if they didn't manage it though.
Relegation battle I fear is a bit less tight sadly. Things look really good for COC but all depends on America, bit less for Bulgaria.

After a Volta a Portugal so disastrous for the team, expected a drop in table fortunately it did not happen and with so little to the end of the season the aim of the top10 starts become more and more real..
