Copenhagen - Malmo TTT
The annual ProTour TTT-event goes into it's 8th edition. Formerly held as the Eindhoven TTT, Denmark and Sweden will host the event for the third consecutive time now. Speaking of three: Project 1t4i/Jack Wolfskin used to dominate this prestigious timetrial the past three years, but is expected to give away the title this year.
Not much to say about the route: 58km in total, there's one difficulty on the way up the Oresund Bridge, which may favor the better climbers at the first split. It's a panflat route except of this one climb, so pure TT-specialists will definitely enjoy this day.
The Startlist
The Teams
| Top-favorites | TTT-setup | | Leader | Simply Red Bull | 83-82-77-77-76-75-75-74 | | Coppel | ING - Pro Cycling Team | 83-81-80-77-77-76-75-68 | | Fiedler | Oz Cycling Project | 81-81-79-78-77-74-74-73 | | Rogers | Rothaus - Aegon | 81-80-78-76-75-75-74-72 | | Keizer | Team Bpost - Vlaanderen | 81-78-78-76-76-76-75-75 | | Cornu | | Contenders | | | | Team B&O | 79-77-77-75-75-74-74-73 | | Dempster | Becherovka - Kiwibank | 80-77-75-74-74-74-74-74 | | Sergent | Wikipedia | 79-79-78-77-76-75-71-70 | | Bookwalker | Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank | 79-77-76-74-72-72-71-70 | | Kritskiy | Lotto - Australia Post | 77-77-77-76-76-75-73-68 | | Ghyselinck | | Outsiders | | | | Project 1t4i | 79-77-75-75-74-73-72-72 | | Posthuma | Festina-Canal+ | 78-76-76-75-73-72-70-70 | | Bernadeau | Good Energy | 79-76-75-75-74-72-70-66 | | Malori | Bouygues Telecom | 79-79-76-74-72-69-65-63 | | Martin | Prio - Porto | 76-76-76-74-73-72-72-68 | | Costa |
Three teams may be considered as the top-favorites for this year's edition: ING, Simply Red Bull and wildcard Oz Cycling have the strongest Top-5-lineup of all teams. Elite timetrialers like Coppel and Cancellara feature the strongest duo (SRB), while ING lines up with the only team with 3x 80+. Oz with some good depth, as well as a pretty succesfull duo Rogers/Ford.
But also Rothaus will hope for it's pretty good lineup to score some well needed points: Keizer as the one to pull it here. Bpost with a well rounded team as well, though lacking a true star behind Flens.
Hard to predict the overall here, but a few more teams can be serious contenders for the podium, too: B&O hoping for some special boost, Becherovka, Wikipedia, as well as Tinkoff or Lotto amongst those dark horses, too. As for the ranking battles, it's a pretty clear picture between some of those involved teams: Rothaus has to get the very best out of this now, while Wikipedia has a chance to gain points on Vesuvio!

Always a fun race, and a very competitive field on tap. I'm not sure if PCM 13 will punish ING for their last rider (or if he'll not pull/take extremely short pulls/get dropped so quickly it doesn't matter), but if not then they'd be my bet. Still, that's a complete shot in the dark, it looks like eight teams have a reasonable chance if things go their way.

This is my best possible TT lineup this season with 2 unmaxed riders. So next season should be much better.
A bit afraid, that my awful TTT record this season continues. So far most times in last third. Not sure if I had a single top10 in a TTT actually.
Oz stealing me some points is not good.
And a bit afraid to land behind B&O, Wikipedia and Behceorvka.
Top 5 is needed. Everything else would be disappointing. Top3 obviously would be nice.
Gaining a lot of points on all teams directly ahead of me is needed. |

Interesting two country race. Boring factoid for today: my internship at University back in the day was working on (very minor) design elements of the Oresund Crossing (the suspension bridge component); was a fun summer spent in Kobenhavn
Key race probably more for relegation contenders than impacting the title race (we'll see). Oz may well indirectly have quite an impact on this situation!

Actually, where is the race technically taking place in PCM, and does local rider bonus affect TTs? I can't quite remember. |

Interesting that the AI logic rates me as almost last. I'll be intrigued to see how badly the team does! Hopefully I can beat Pokerstars and Becherovka somehow. Though I do suspect they're both out of reach now in the rankings.
Also I'm a bit confused as to why I sent Scarponi here. Awful TT stats. He can't be my 8th best surely?!?!

Startlist order doesn't rate TTT teams. It's random as far as team's strength goes.

Dang - when the stats are posted it makes me more hopeful of a win, despite finishing well behind ING on TTTs this year. Just for reference here they are thus far:
Paris Nice(25km):
| Rank | Team | Time | | 1 | Swisscom - UBS | 32'29 | | 2 | Team Bpost - Vlaanderen | + 5 | | 3 | ING - Pro Cycling Team | + 7 | | 4 | Team B&O | + 18 | | 5 | Vesuvio - Accumalux | + 23 | | 6 | Wikipedia | + 40 | | 7 | Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank | + 45 | | 8 | Becherovka - Kiwibank | + 50 | | 9 | Good Energy | + 54 | | 10 | Pendleton's | s.t. | | 11 | Team Vueling Airlines | + 56 | | 12 | Simply Red Bull | + 1'00 | | 13 | Bouygues Telecom | + 1'01 | | 14 | Rothaus - Aegon | + 1'05 | | 15 | Festina-Canal+ | s.t. | | 16 | Prio - Porto | + 1'13 | | 17 | Lotto - Australia Post | s.t. | | 18 | Project 1t4i | + 1'20 | | 19 | Gazelle | + 1'21 | | 20 | VolksWagen-Mapei | + 1'25 | | 21 | Aker-MOT | + 2'02 | | 22 | Santander | + 3'09 | | 23 | Pokerstars.com | + 3'13 |
Tour de France(28km):
| 1 | ING - Pro Cycling Team | 37'55 (1) | | 2 | Team B&O | + 44 (2) | | 3 | Wikipedia | + 44 (3) | | 4 | Simply Red Bull | + 44 (4) | | 5 | Team Bpost - Vlaanderen | + 46 (5) | | 6 | Vesuvio - Accumalux | + 54 (6) | | 7 | Santander | + 55 (7) | | 8 | Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank | + 1'02 (8) | | 9 | Swisscom - UBS | + 1'05 (9) | | 10 | Festina-Canal+ | + 1'07 (10) | | 11 | Pendleton's | + 1'08 (11) | | 12 | Prio - Porto | + 1'09 (12) | | 13 | Rothaus - Aegon | + 1'10 (13) | | 14 | Bacardi Limited | + 1'13 (14) | | 15 | Becherovka - Kiwibank | + 1'14 (15) | | 16 | Project 1t4i | + 1'20 (16) | | 17 | Team Vueling Airlines | + 1'26 (17) | | 18 | Bouygues Telecom | + 1'28 (18) | | 19 | Aker-MOT | + 1'47 (19) | | 20 | VolksWagen-Mapei | + 1'47 (20) | | 21 | Good Energy | + 1'49 (21) | | 22 | Quickstep | + 1'55 (22) | | 23 | Lotto - Australia Post | + 2'15 (23) | | 24 | Pokerstars.com | + 2'20 (24) |
Duetschland:
| 1 | ING - Pro Cycling Team | 53'21 | | 2 | Simply Red Bull | + 17 | | 3 | Team Bpost - Vlaanderen | s.t. | | 4 | Swisscom - UBS | + 28 | | 5 | Wikipedia | s.t. | | 6 | Team B&O | + 46 | | 7 | Vesuvio - Accumalux | + 48 | | 8 | Becherovka - Kiwibank | s.t. | | 9 | Project 1t4i | + 54 | | 10 | Team Vueling Airlines | s.t. | | 11 | Pendleton's | + 57 | | 12 | Prio - Porto | + 1'09 | | 13 | Lotto - Australia Post | + 1'12 | | 14 | Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank | s.t. | | 15 | Festina-Canal+ | + 1'15 | | 16 | Good Energy | + 1'17 | | 17 | VolksWagen-Mapei | + 1'19 | | 18 | Aker-MOT | s.t. | | 19 | Rothaus - Aegon | + 1'27 | | 20 | Team Puma - SAP | + 1'36 | | 21 | Pokerstars.com | + 1'53 | | 22 | Santander | + 1'54 | | 23 | Bouygues Telecom | + 2'31 |
Obviously not all teams have put their best out all the time, but ING have been pretty consistent, as have Bpost. Dunno whether it counts for anything though.
Cmon team podium at least but a win has chances! It is a goal for us.

I have Kittel here but otherwise it's not my strongest line-up - unlike those which turned out in the stage races throughout the season.
Fortunately Phinney is not here either, and hopefully the top favourites all have good rides.
Big opportunity for Rothaus. ING are favourites, but inactive, so let's hope someone beats them.

I always thought it was based on the rankings it would have been had it been a road race, meaning Kluge would be best sprinter here. Of course my thought could be wrong though

We really need to gain some more points than Good Energy and Pokerstars here. Good luck to everybody involve.

Not our best terrain. I've brought my absolute best lineup for this one, even sacrificing a couple of race days from Machado and Costa It's good to see that makes us mentionable in the preview, something I wasn't expecting.
Thanks for the comprehensive analysis tsmoha
I'm glad Santander is absolutely incapable of timetrialing, otherwise we would just lose ground to any direct competitor. Not that that matters, obviously

This is a race we admittedly stand absolutely no chance in. Avoiding the bottom 3 will be a success.
Difficult to call the winner, but I fancy Simply Red Bull due to their two beasts and with their eight rider being on 74 in TT, there is no weak link. But obviously the same can be said about the majority of the favourites, but Red Bull is my pick if only one team can be chosen.
Really looking forward to the report! |

We have some great memories on this race after last years PT wildcard, so i hope Oz can continue the good showing of PCT teams here, go for the podium tsmoha!
For the win, it should be between ING and Red Bull, go and use your wings red bulls.

Interesting to see so many of the teams from the bottom half of the rankings as favourites here. Goes to show that good TT'ers doesn't score many points I guess...

Cornu is a bit better than Flens mate
Hoping for a podium here but I think Oz cycling being here will mess that up.
