Am I the only one who would really love to play a decent historical database now and then?
I've been waiting and waiting, hoping that someone would make a complete project. Including all teams, races, sponsors and riders etc. And with accurate stats! A database that allows you to go back in time and have a realistic feel of how that time was.. I'm not really into these semi-complete databases. (No offence Sali) .. But I'd love to see someone release one masterpiece instead of five half-done and incomplete ones..
Let me now if you feel the same way! And if so, let's gather a group of cycling educated people and make this happen! I'd be happy to work myself..

I'm the same, I've wanted to play with Merckx, Hinault, Bobet, Poulidor, Rominger, etc. for a while. I'd be willing to help with making one. I'm not so good with technical stuff, but I could do some stats, etc.

Nice to know you feel the same way! But we will definately need some experienced database makers on board if this project is going to become a reality..
PCMNorges 1998 DB for PCM2010 seems to be the last decent 90's DB, so maybe it would be an idea to use that as a base.
Can anybody please list the things needed to be added/edited to make a PCM2010 database compatible with PCM2014? |

CFQBase, where are you???
I´m not really motivated to do it for PCM 14, but you can download it for PCM 13

Does it count as a decent historical db?
C'mon, at least a bit of humbleness...

Do they count as offenses?
It's rather objective that yours isn't a historical db..

Are Merckx, Hinailt, Bobet, Poulidor and Rominger in CFQBase?
So...

It's not a proper historic Db, Mars.
A lot of fantasy guys are in and present riders are in as well.
Also, afiak, your DB even is ''located'' in the present.
What he's obviously looking for is a DB with historical teams and riders only.

WTF? Please, my patience has a limit, I'll try to explain it to you carefully, for the last time. Even if you've got 45 riders of the past, it doesn't make the cfqbase an historical db, as you mixed up everything, so that we've got a women team, a children team etc.
A historical db is just a historical db, it could be based on a whole era (70's), just a year (2000) or all-time. Also, I don't think that you've got enough past cycling's knowledge to state that your db is "decent". READ CAREFULLY.

Jesleyh, matt17br: Does any of you know exactly what needs to be edited in the PCM2010 DB to make it work for PCM2014? |

A whole lot. I would have finished the 2009 DB but converting the CDB takes a really hard and long time, and lluuiiggii left before I finished it.
That was with PCM 09 ofc, but I can't imagine it would be too different of a jump seeing as that project started with PCM 13. Same gap.

Is that too much to ask?
I just really want to get a complete overview of what needs to be done. |

Yes, but he wants to also play against the likes of Roche, Kelly, Rooks and whoever else, and not Froome, Saruman, and Paul the Panther.

According to try to do a good historical database, it takes a great understanding of the cycling of recent years, which can be found in the various specialized sites such as:
https://www.memoir...clisme.eu/
https://cyclopassi...chive.html
https://www.ciclow...term/46108
https://www.cyclin...fault.aspx https://www.webali...corse.html
https://www.dewiel.../index.php
https://www.procyc...2_All_Time
and then it takes a lot of passion and
a long time

Well the CDB: the basic database final, has different rows with different columns in them. Which means data either has to be created, exchanged, taken out and replaced or converted. And while i can add and replace values well, I have no idea how to convert the entire CDB. Hell, we only got through Dyn_Cyclist before Lluiiggii left.
Honestly, I don't know anyone except lluuiiggii who is capable of such a thing without a tons of trial/research.
