I wonder why there isn't any thread about the next generation of the consoles with the XBOX One and PS4
Watched both presentations and I think I tend to the XBOX One and one reason is Kinect that is hopefully so like it should have been at the first attempt, but I see a lot of hate against XBOX..
MS just confirmed that pre-owned games could be played but you need to get a license/fee you have to pay otherwise the game can't be played. I wonder who is really buying that much pre-owned games so it would really matter.
PS: This shouldn't be a troll/hater thread fanboys against each other that might spark up (console wars)

Wii U put into the title
I just don't want ugly discussions with things like imagined/thought out facts that aren't true and hate.
Just look at the Gamespot comments for examples

I will buy PS4, but that'll take a while, I will do that when games like Fifa won't be made on PS3 anymore, I love my PS3 
And I don't have any uses for Kinect, my PS3 is connected to my tv, which is on the end of my bed, so not really enough space for it around my Xbox(so PS3 ).

What the recent announcements from Sony and Microsoft have done is show how far behind the Wii U is ending up... It was a gamble for Nintendo to launch so early and so far it has not worked out at all...
Xbox One looks nice and has exactly what any normal person expected it to have (lots of extras that are not necessary but still cool). Again lack of backwards compatibility and needing Live to use the extras is just money grabbing but hey they have to make money so its expected.
Frankly can say fuck all about PS4 at this stage but it looks like the differences between it the the One are going to be only titles and cost. Functionally there will be very very little separation.
It's still early to say which will be "best" but frankly it will only be personal preference. I will be sticking with my 360 until it breaks then just upgrading my laptop endlessly.

1) The game only works with your Profile. If a friend comes over and wants to play with their profile, they must buy the code
2) Always-on means that it never fully powers down. This means it can load up quickly. Like a phone or a laptop
3) It is designed to be connected, but it does not have to be connected to work. However without an internet connection you can only watch Blu-Rays and play "some" game modes

Now i am a big fan of taking my ps3 or taking a game to a friend and play in 3-4-6 friends an all nighter , so this bugs the hell out of me , if i want to play my game on another ps4(profile)
Utter shit
Xbox , i dont even bother they kinect thingie is a big no no for me plus for the games i play the psn community is bigger ,oh and the sony games that are available only on ps3

Exactly my situation, I went through a LOTR, Borderlands and halfway through BL2 co-op with a friend bringing over those games, all since March.
Though as I think the games will be tied to your account rather than the actual console anyway, that's still possible.

XBOX One .. awful design (this is personal taste, of course). It's like they had two design ideas and instead of just going for one of them, they smashed the two together. Pretty big deal if you live with a woman and it's not hidden away
Secondly - while I like the idea of an entertainment system, I bet you that most of the features mentioned won't work in Denmark, leaving just the console.
Looking very much forward to see the PS4. Still can't believe they didn't show it at the presentation. Whoever came up with that idea should be fired.

(Oh, and honestly: Even if the XBOX had been a beauty and had some not-gimmicky features that'd work in Denmark, I'm afraid I'd still go for the Playstation. I guess that's the definition of a fanboy. A little bit sad, really, but I admit it )

That is already biased because I've always preferred PlayStation, but with the information released so far I'd also go for the PS4 from a neutral perspective.

I dont even know the features of the PS4 but the Xbox One (what a terrible name as well) wont be purchased by me. I may hate the PS4 as well, but I know the Xbox is out of the running. Sounds absolutely awful.

I have yet to see anything about the PS4 and XBOX One as I'm mainly a Nintendo player. but I also like to keep a streak of some sorts. I have a NES, N64 and a Wii so I'm skipping this generation completly

I am going to get a PS4 and a Wii U when I get any games for the consoles that I want. The games are the decider for me, and with the history of exclusives that I want for the different consoles, there's 5+ on Wii U. (Maro Kart, Mario Party, Super Smash Bros., Zelda games and Pokemon games.) There's not really any on PlayStation anymore, but they used to have Final Fantasy. The possibility for some other great games are high, though. The only games I have missed on XBOX consoles are the Fable games, so I'm not missing out on much. (Fable 3 wasn't that great.)

Man, I used to think the Wii U was in bad shape. Then the XBOX One was announced.
First of all, the extras. There isn't a single new thing in them. Just things I would never want to do on a game console in the first place. Then there is the unnecessary controller changes. And the fact that Kinect is now required even though, contrary to popular velief, nothing is better with Kinect. No backwards compatability, and a fee to play used games. Seems like a load of BS to me.
And the name. XBOX One? Worse than Wii U. And for what. there were some rumors going around it would be the XBOX Infinity, an original and cool name. But of course now.
This can barely be called a console anymore and a turnoff to hardcore gamers. PS4 has a huge advantage. I've never been a Playstation fan, but I will for sure buy one. Not that they have been a little the same way. But this is a new level.
This will either go down or bring the Wii U back up. Just as developers don't want to mess with the gamepad, the Kinect is a truly gimmicky and useless piece of hardware. And now XBOX's encouragement of it as a real part of the system might make developers no more happy to work with it.
Like I said. PS4 is the way to go for this generation. Of course PC rules all, but not every game, especially sports game (f.e. NHL 14) will come out on PC.

For gaming, this may be true.
But the Kinect is a phenomenal piece of hardware (and most importantly, relatively cheap), that's revolutionised the fields of Computer Vision and, to a lesser extent, Human-Computer Interaction.

Yeah, but you have to live in a loft to play with it. It is unable to spot you, if you are not standing more than 3 metres far from it and every game i tried on that was meh. It does not also respond very well to given orders anyway.
New X-set top box (because it is morel ike Smart TV) is not going to be a gaming console ,just a Microsoft Apple-like product for hipsters chating on facebook whne playing. Wii U FTW!

People need to stop bashing on the XO until Sony properly release all the features of the PS4. You should really expect them to follow some sort of similar vein including lots of social media/internet extras that a "games" console doesn't need. Also expect them to have a similar strategy to deal with pre-owned games, as i doubt it was Microsoft that pushed that idea, more that it was pressure from the dev's themselves.
Also we now need to except that these are not games consoles in the traditional sense. They are home entertainment systems. I think its really a good development. Lets be honest games are so realistic now there is not a lot of scope for them to grow and innovate, so the the emphasis should be elsewhere. Recently Microsoft have been doing this with various new apps for the 360 which have been quite successful if only for the novelty of it.
I admit steaming TV is pointless on a console that is connected to the TV... (seriously who suggested that, they should be given a brain then shot) ... but integrating connection to social media sites is cool as so many people, including gamers, use them and the games side of them. Steaming films, email etc. is no different to an internet TV. And the bonus now is that you get the internet TV with a games console and a blu-ray player.
The XO has copped a lot of flack for the forced re-purchase of pre-owned games, but 1) cost hasn't been announced and 2) its perfectly valid. You buy a game, YOU, not your friend your lending it/selling it to. The copyright does support them here and people need to accept this. It just makes sure they can keep making money, and guess what they are a company and that is the whole point of what they do.
It has also annoyed some people by forcing you to use Kinect. The XO will come with Kinect when sold so that isn't a problem. It will be like games are now on the 360. They might have one or two token waves and menu navigation but it won't take over the gameplay. The Kinect is an amazing piece of technology with some amazing applications and it really should be pushed as much as possible. I've used the current system and its awesome for navigating menus and simple things like that, just being able to casually ask it or wave a lazy arm is really nice. The new one should be an improvement and i for one cannot wait to use it. The PS4 has nothing on Kinect.
I would say some stuff on the PS4 but there is not information on it. Erm... yeah... Look forward to the real announcement and demonstrations.
Wii U just being left in the dust, mostly by its own fault unfortunately. Its been out for months and i have only ever seen bad publicity for it. Mostly 3rd Party dev's saying they will not make games for it! You don't get worse publicity. Also i have never seen a TV advert or a billboard either... Just shocking...
