Patch1.4.0.0

Evolution0.4

Prologue

With a historic 7th win in a row Lance Armstrong has not only wrote history but also leave a empty place at the top of the biggest bike race of the world behind. Jan Ullrich, former tour winner himself, was his greatest challenger at that time but couldn't quite make it. Three second places, one third and one fourth place finish. Good, but not great. Almost 10 ten years are gone when Ullrich won his last tour in 1997. Back then he was considered as the most talented rider in the field while winning the Tour de France with just 23 years, the youngest age ever of a tour winner. But those times are gone. Ullrich, now 32 has almost reached the end of his prime and willing to give another try in winning the biggest sport event of earth again.

Story Description

Besides the Tour de France and maybe some other important races for my team, I will not coverage all stages and races in detail. However, I will give at least informations about the results and interesting events during a stage or race.

I was definitely inspired by the story of kimiopn and his CSC Team, but also wanted to make a story about this DB since I was the creator of the whole 2006 Tour de France route for the danish community. So, I hope you guys will follow my story and have fun while reading it.

Jan Ullrich is clearly the team captain of the 2006 squad. The whole team is build around him following just one main goal - winning the Tour de France. Besides this he will target the Tour de Suisse as preparation for the Tour and will give a shot at the Worlds, too.

Andreas Klöden is also heading to the Tour de France this year. With his ability to climb and timetrial he will be "plan B" if Ullrich's coming short in July. Otherwise he will be the the left hand of Ullrich in the mountains while targeting a top 5 finish, though. His first appearance of the season will be the race Paris - Nice, looking for the overall win there. At the Tour of Germany he will lead the team as captain, too.

Matthias Kessler is this year our man at the hilly spring classics while helping at the tour. He's young, talented and a important rider this year.

Steffen Wesemann instead is heading to the cobbles classics. The old man will try his best at Paris - Roubaix, but also attempt the Milano - Sanremo Race.

Protected Riders

NameAgeCountry
Patrik Sinkewitz25
Kim Kirchen27
Andreas Klier29
Michael Rogers26

With Sinkewitz and Kirchen we have in addition to Kessler three very good riders at the hilly classics. Same goes for Klier as a reliable helper for Wesemann at the cobbles. Rogers on the other hand has the ability to lead a squad into a stage race, winning timetrials and be a important helper.

Sprinter

NameAgeCountry
Olaf Pollack32
Eric Baumann25
Andre Greipel23

With Erik Zabel leaving the team we have without a doubt a deficit regarding world class sprinters. Pollack is reliable, but not a first class sprinter. Baumann and Greipel are lacking in expierence and the ability to compete with the best, yet. Small wins seems to be in reach, but points jersey in the bigger races unrealistic.

Great start for Roger into the new season. A late attack on the last hill was enough to stripe the national championship jersey for the rest of the season over.

Important race for our sponsor, who want us to win here. As the race progresses we are in the mix, having a good position and beeing under a group of 10 riders riding towards the finish. Wesemann, Klier and Ivanov with good form but not enough left in the legs to answer the last attack by Boonen 3km before the finish...
