The Team
Sky have today confirmed the lineup for their brand new Development Team, which will take part in the Continental Tour this season. The seventeen riders are, as expected, not just from the UK, but represent eleven nations, ranging from the US to New Zealand.
"The aim of this team is not to find a guy who can win the Tour de France this season", says Dave Brailsford, Sky team manager. "The immediate aim is to provide talented youngsters who aren't quite ready for the senior team yet with professional cycling to learn the ropes and to learn how to win bike races, both as individuals and as a team. We will be watching every race closely to see if any of the riders are making the progress we are looking for, and that doesn't necessarily mean winning, but how they behave and conduct themselves for the team. There will definitely be one or two slots available for the right riders each year."

Team Schedule
The Team have also released a plan of the races they will take part in this season. The season is based around the British domestic calendar from April to August, including the highly competitive Tour Series. Despite this, the team will travel as far as South Africa and North America which will allow the team to learn in different weather and and on different terrains.
Due to a mass of rejections from race organisers, the first race the team will take part in will be the Tour of South Africa in late February and the season will conclude with the Univest Grand Prix in the US in late September.
