How long are the benefits of training camp supposed to last? I thought I read somewhere that they should last 12 weeks. It seems to me that they only last approx. two weeks. |

2-3 weeks, as far as I remember. I don't where I have read it, but I'm pretty sure it's not 12 weeks. I've never used training camps, though, so my thought is based solely on what I think I have read long ago |

unfortunately, I don't think you'll get many answers (since most people don't use training camps)
I'd be happy to help but I really don't know.

Just checked the manual, and it says 12 weeks
I wouldn't trust that information, though. |

Im not gonna be exact, because frankly, its mainly estimates and guesswork. But a level 2 cobblestone camp used just before April, can last April out and still maintain 40-60ish% of the COB stat.
And a level 4 mountain camp used right before the big tours will last the tour out while only losing a couple of points.

Thanks for the input. When you guys talk about the levels for the training camps, what are you referring to? Is that the stars of the hotels?
THis is my first season on career mode, I am using Disco. Sent my Classics guys to camp for hills then cobbles (sometime in late Feb and mid March) but when Paris-Robaix came all of their bonuses were gone. Total bummer! |

Yes, the level means the amount of stars. And just for the record. The estimates i mentioned only really hold water if you use them for ten days.
Anyhow Bridge, they key is timing. Both in the races as well and outside the races. Try time the cobble camp so it finishes a couple of days before the first of the cobbled race.
The same hold for mountain camps: Try to make them finish two or three days before the big tour starts.

not really one week or two before the races to have time for one stage race to make fitness high

Yeah, I thought I was slick and tried to send my Classics guys to a cobbles camp for 10 days then a hills camp for 10 days. But when it came time for the Classics to start they had lost of gained cobbles attribute. Well you live and you learn.
Does anyone know if training continues during the camp like it does during races? My guess is that it does not since the % is blocked out when they are at camp. |

I dont about the 07 game but for the 06, the effect last two months (4 star). Used them 3 times (twice for mountians and once for cobbles) and all three times the growth in the stats lasted 2 months.
Hope it helps... |

07 manual says they last about 8 weeks, then start to fade, and it works out pretty much like that. I sent Cancelara on 4 consecutive TT camps and got his TT ability up to 89! He took a minute off Vinokourov in the TDF prologue alone. Also got Shleck up to 84 mountain and 85 hills.
I advise starting the traininng camps 8 weeks before the first race, for whatever events are in the tour the first week. If the tour mostly has TT in the first week and ends with plenty of mountains, do the TT camp first then do mountains and hills.
Fitness does not improve on the camps, BUT fatigue does. So make sure their fitness is 60%, or 65% max. stop the camps right before the Tour de Helvetie, jack up their training to 80/90% and ride that tour. If their fitness is right after that you can fit one more camp in before the tour.
Hope this helps...B) |

If his skill goes over 85, it's still considered 85 by the game

yup, I don't use them simply because the AI never does. to me it's exactly the same as upping your riders' stats in the DB

Thanks, but the problem with my riders in patch 1.0.1 was that the riders i sold also got all the stats for my training camps. |
