Riders of the year
Heine
I made a db with wage/points and then sorted it so that the riders scoring most points compared to their wage got on the top. So here I am to present the top 10 list (and bottom 10). I wont make it as detailed as I did for CT (my gf is tired of me not giving her attention while working with this).

1) Giovanni Visconti (104€ per point)

2) Rafael Rodríguez Segarra (115€ per point)

3) Mitch Docker (165€ per point)

4) Santo Anza (189€ per point)

5) William Ford (192€ per point)

6) Dietmar Mehr-Weninge (194€ per point)

7) Yoann Offredo (198€ per point)

8) Tom Leezer (202€ per point)

9) Cyril Gautier (204€ per point)

10) Lloyd Mondory (209€ per point)

Then:

Tschopp
Vanderbiest
Santambrogio
Castaño
Hoffman
Kvasina
Phinney
Dowsett
Hagen
Reimer

Bottom 10 (over 100 pts to take away those just getting points from finishing races):

1) Kristjan Koren (4 009€ per point)

2) Loduvic Bret (2 834€ per point)

3) Denis Menchov (2 305€ per point)

4) Jacob Fiedler (2 133€ per point)

5) Vladimir Efimkin (1 650€ per point)

6) Blaise Sonnery (1 579€ per point)

7) Lucas Schädlich (1 466€ per point)

8) Vladimir Karpets (1 465€ per point)

9) Thomas Faiers (1 417€ per point)

10) Tom Veelers (1 381€ per point)

Then:
Corioni
Barredo
Van Huffel
Ardila
Gomez Marchante
Keizer
Reus
Kneisky
Lowe
Iglinski

I know some of those are loaned (like Schadlich) and therefor got a lower wage for Festina, but used the wage in the db.

Wow, 3 guys in the top-10, Vanderbiest just outside of the top-10. I guess they'll be looking for higher wages next year. Crap.

Also, nice job Grin

Nice to see Kvasina and Dowsett featured.

Faiers 9th on the bottom 10, well I didnt pay all of the wage and apart from ~20th in California, he got all his points just from finishing - so would be lower if the cut off point wasnt as high as 100.

Whats it like if you do everyone with 50+ points?

Ardila fairly far back, but he has been my main helper all year. Obviously an expensive helper, but he wouldn't have been that far back if he would've been leader in more races... Sonnery has been extremely sucky and is where he should be...

Yeah, Faiers was a perfectly good deal for SN. And as the potential best Brit stage racer he was a good deal for me.
Visconti has been a very good deal - is Starbucks disbanding?

I think they are already gone Pfft

Not a surprise to see Van Huffel in the second top. Except the Giro, he had a very poor season.

Indeed - the young guys are a bit misleading at times on these lists - their wage is higher because of what they will become, but of course, theyre not that now, so not getting the results worthy of the wage yet.

Will be good to see Faiers once he is is maxed.

thats where my training cash will be going.

In future seasons I assume, since you cant train until he is maxed.

yeah, i felt that was a given.

Just checking Wink - its not necesarilly the most efficient use of money to save it up for future seasons

Yeah, I'll spend it elsewhere this year but, once he's maxed, it's all going on him until he wins the TourPfft

It will probably cost 20 million to get him competitive Smile

50+ points:

Koren
Viviani
Bret
Menchov
Fiedler
Cooke
Efimkin
Sonnery
Schadlich
Karpets

So not much changed, could've been without the rule, just set it as I recalled that there were alot of youngsters around that score when I wrote the points ;-)

I think there's a theme going on here. In both the CT and PT riders of the year lists, I have a few riders on both top 10s. Must be something I'm telling them to do, training or... something... *looks shifty

Menchov, Efimkin and Karpets all were used as GT riders - and couldn't make the impact I guess their team managers expected of them.

Though I think the luxury domestique role could be slightly of better use in pcm2010.

Cooke and Sonnery were victims of those sprinters who don't climb particularly well type scenerio. Sonnery I recall at the end of long sprint trains fairly often.

Menchov could have been useful, but was raced so much in the same races of Caruso, so forced to take a back seat role.

Strange use of Menchov, considering his wage

rjc_43
A lot of strange things have happened under many different managers. It's the fun of the game, laughing at idiotic choices.
