Okay so I'm not really sure what direction I want to take this. Part of this is trying to move through seasons quickly since there won't be any grand tours for BLS, I guess the point of this is to get through seasons, let the riders evolve and watch where they go while trying to be as competitive as possible with a U23 team.

So I'm not sure how much I want to report with pictures and stories. I didn't put any with the last stage just to see, and I don't really think I liked it. Which puts me at a delima a slow pace for better story, or faster pace getting to the future quicker?

Atkins looking really good in the mountains Smile

And Brown still holding a top ten on the GC Wink

Team Classification looks nice, KoM also very nice!

Well, it's up to you. Since it's all about the development, I'd personally say slower, but in the end it's your call!

Okay glad to get the feedback. I'm going to put this on hold and reboot once the 2013 db comes out. Maxime if you want to go ahead and take it that's fine, I always have ideas and can do something different.

I'll think about it

Okay, this is back up and running with the new 2013 DB. Set my roster up, still have Ewan and added some Italians. Also we will get a quick start with the historic riders section now since two jumped to Sky. Any bets on if I can get a win in any of the 4 NC races coming up? Got Ewan going in Australia and Oram in New Zealand (where he is the current champ U23 IRL).

Australian Championship
January 8th, 2013
Buninyong – Buninyong: 195.5 kms - Flat

Caleb Ewan, our youngest rider, and recent addition to anchor our teams sprints gets to ride his first ride with Bontrager Cycling Team in the Australian National Championship. Our biggest hope is he isn't too star struck riding next to some of the best in the world.
The race gets underway with a relatively small field of serious contenders.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSC1.jpg

Our team decided earlier that the best chance was to keep Caleb away from the stars and focused in a small group, an early attack from William Clarke (Argos-Shimano) and Fabio Calabria (Novo Nordisk) would help him slip away into the break.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSC2.jpg

A few of the major teams worked some to keep the breakaway in check, led by Garmin, but the attitude among the major teams quickly deteriorated when the local Orica-Greenedge team with several riders didn't put in a serious effort.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSC3.jpg

A major crash midway through the race would alter the events significantly though, as Matthew Lloyd (Lampre) came crashing down in the peloton and took several other riders out with him. This destroyed an already struggling peloton, which was now entirely unable to catch the breakaway.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSC4.jpg

With the original break now well clear of the field gaining over 24 minutes at one point, there was no doubt the victor would be one of them, and the podium was clearly set. All three riders were well aware of the situation far behind them. When it came time to open up the sprint, Bontrager's Caleb Ewan would sail past both Clarke and Calabria, winning the Australian Championship.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSC5.jpg

Hopefully a sign of things yet to come as Bontrager opens with a fantastic start and will get to show off Ewan in the Aussie jersey all season.

Australian Championship (ITT)
January 10th, 2013
Ballarat: 37.0 kms - Flat

The second test of the Australian Championships is a 37km timetrial, which should be interesting as many of the riders are still recovering from a crash in the road race two days ago.
The early pace setter would be Luke Durbridge (Orica), his work would keep in in first most of the afternoon before ending up in 7th just over a minute off the pace.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSTT1.jpg

Our National Road Champion, Caleb Ewan, would put in a good effort, and see his name in the top 10 when he finished, but as other riders continued to finish he would be pushed down to 20th and over 2 minutes behind the leader.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSTT2.jpg

The day would belong to Richie Porte (Sky) who would be first through both checkpoints and the finish line. Putting Cadel Evans (BMC) 23 seconds behind him.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/AusChamp/AUSTT3.jpg

The new champs will certainly be excited to continue the season wearing Australian colors, a good feeling for Bontrager Cycling Team and Sky Procycling.

New Zealand Championship (ITT)
January 11th, 2013
Christchurch: 40.1 kms - Flat

After a grest start for the team in Australia, James Oram would be expected to give the next performance in his championships in New Zealand, starting with the time-trial. While Oram is certainly not currently an elite rider, a very limited New Zealand field opens the doors for everyone to get a win.

James would be one of the first riders to ride this 40.1 km course and would provide a great run setting a time that would stand for almost the whole day.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/NZChamp/NZTT1.jpg

It wasn't until the second to last rider, Jack Bauer (Garmin), crossed the line that Oram would lose his spot atop the rankings. Crossing 21 seconds faster than Oram.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/NZChamp/NZTT2.jpg

Unfortunately for Jack, his spot wouldn't last anywhere near as long as the last man out of the gate came in with the fastest time at 58'32", 18 seconds up Bauer and 39" ahead of Oram. Jesse Sergent (RLT) would win the New Zealand Time Trial.

New Zealand Championship
January 13th, 2013
Christchurch-Christchurch: 181.6 kms - Flat

A very small field of contenders for the New Zealand Road championship makes for unique race. James Oram will be hoping to match teammate Caleb Ewan and claim the national title for himself, while everyone else is giving their best to win also.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/NZChamp/NZC1.jpg

The breakaway wouldn't take long to form, and with 5 riders the break might just stand a chance to stay away from the smaller field. In order, Michael Torckler (Bissell), Alex Meenhorst (Differdange), James Oram (BCT), Clinton Avery (Champion), Tom Scully (Raleigh).
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/NZChamp/NZC2.jpg

Michael Torcker attacks his mates in the breakaway with 30 km left to go, the other four don't react, planning on running him down as a group.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/NZChamp/NZC3.jpg

With 10k left, it is apperant to James Oram that the group isn't going to catch Torcker, and he needs to put the chase on himself. Clinton Avery tries to follow, but is never able to get on Oram's wheel.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/NZChamp/NZC4.jpg

Neither Oram or Avery were going to catch Torckler though as the 25 year old crosses the finish all alone (well Oram just appearing on the last straight). Exciting day for him and Bissell Cycling.

Scouting Report

As a U23 team our scouting and ability to sign new young riders will be paramount to the success of the team. So we have two scouts out looking around the US and the rest of the world for riders.

Currently we are taking a good look at two US sprinters, 21 year old Zack Simpson and 19 year old Derrick Baker. We believe both could be promising talents and will consider sponsoring them if we believe they have the skills to continue their career in cycling.
