Pretty elated with 2nd place for Shikai. I snuck a look at this stage last year and got pretty worried seeing how random the results were so pretty relieved it panned out normal this time. Don't really have any dreams of beating Cras (congrats Ezee!) so some small gains on Stussi and Galta + a decent amount on Schlegel is a great result. A little worried still to see how Shikai's low MM works out over the next couple stages though.
Thanks for another great report redordead! Appreciate the effort spent covering such a wide portion of the field, made for a great read.

Big win for Cras! Congrats Ezee
Have to be honest, I didn't expect a lot from Le Creuset here

Solid from Masnada.
Obviously his MO is a touch low compared to the competition, so hopefully he can limit his losses on S6 and S8 and put his energy stats to good use for S7.
T10 feels well in touch, as does a T20 for Smith. |

Happy to see Pira didn't lose a lot of time on this TT, but let's see how he does in the pure mountains. Good to see Bilyi as well, holding on to that white jersey with the tiniest of margins.
Thanks a lot red or dead for the extensive TT-reporting! |

Everything isn't lost.
Decent MTT by Rachid (and Azman). I hope to see Rachid on the defense, conserving energy, and Azman doing the opposite, attacking.
Excited to see how the race unfolds, despite Sureda’s submission to worst underperformance this season. There’s still plenty to ride for.

Cras with a good ride, but not more than expected thankfully - Osorio doing just what he needs to do and sit top 5 which he should be able to fight for throughout the race.
Obando giving Bilyi a run for his money in the youth race was also a goal, so glad it's playing out correctly so far. Main the 3rd to help in the team battle.
This race is going to be a razor's margin for the top 10, team top 3, and youth race I feel and which way it falls will determine whether multiple managers consider this a success.

Shocking from Cras and Schlegel. The body language when they were under the 1km banner indicates that they were already completely out of energy, but that's pretty weird. I hope they can recover a bit over the next stages, Cras is particular is still within reach of at least a Mid-Top 10 finish. But a tough result for both teams.
On the other hand, big congrats to trek, Shikai looks amazing. And cool to see Galta give Billstedt their first taste of good results here, too

Good to see that Pira can compete with the best. In two races there is a mountain stage only 127km long, and that should suit Pira really good. The 16,5 ITT in the last stage is way too long though
Really weird to see Cras and Schlegel not keeping up with the pace, in this relatively easy stage. But they might come very strongly back in the next two, so this will be really excited.
Really good reporting so far redordead |

I like how Doubey placed first and foremost
Very good result for Chikai there, congrats trek! I would think next stage is the most scary for him. Burke specially should be really scary on that one with how strong he looked at this stage

Shikai! Absolutely awesome result. Got a bit worried seeing him so far down the peloton then suddenly he just rode past everyone. Especially given I was hoping just not to lose time it's amazing and unexpected to get a stage win and the GC lead. Still a long way to go though. We don't have great support to defend the jersey and next stage especially is pretty scary for Shikai.
Do feel for Cras and Schlegel, hope they can come back on the next couple stages.
Thanks again for another great report!

Huh. On the one hand, the team sat towards the front and Masnada limited the damage as hoped, and there's especially not too much to complain about given who was behind him.
On the other hand, odd we seemed to be working at the front to bring the breakaway back? And would've hoped for a bit more from Smith (though he did finish with Schlegel and Cras, so...).
Next stage should suit Masnada the best, so let's see if he can climb back into the T10. |

It's a shame the break Antonelli got into wasn't allowed to stay away as a KOM attempt woukd suit him here.
On the positive side he did well to still finish top 15 on the stage so there's hope he can climb up the GC a little

That was unexpected
Luckily, Rachid is living a quiet life and looking good.
Kulindwa is also in place for a decent youth classification.

The Turtles are doing our job! Great work by Obando to jump ahead of our friends at Tafjord and moving toward the front of the team classification - we feel confident there especially with our focus on stage 9.
Osorio moving into 3rd is a huge benefit, but there's lots of climbers who should still have great stage 7 and 8. Let's see how that changes the dynamics and for that, we are glad we don't have to control things as the yellow jersey.

Wtf happened here? Just why? After the great day before he seem to just decide not to put in any effort today. The time itself isnt a huge problem but the fact that like 20 people now ahead of him is. Horrible job of our whole team today, there it goes our ambitions for this race.
Congrats to the ones who actually did good today and thanks for this report.

I put that as a big win for Shikai to not really loose time on this stage.
Congrats Niska with a good win, and a cool top 5 with only 2 teams in it

Hum OK days I gues.
If Berthet can fight and get the KoM tomorrow, Rochas slide into the points and Politt get a top 3 on the last day, the race could be considered a relative success. A big break tomorrow would be nice.
Thanks for the reports red, always a pleasure to read.

Like to see that 1-2 by Jura alumni (plus Aebi in 4th) Congrats Nisky, guess Rohendi can already be considered a good addition by now
Weird to see S6 though, maybe the hard racing on the flat wasn't good for Cras and Schlegel if they weren't protected well enough, don't really see another explanation... Should make for some aggressive racing tomorrow, at least hoping to see some big action there
